I’d have loved us to sign Eze, but Palhinha could end up as the signing of the season if he keeps this up. Absolutely outstanding performance there and giving us the bite we’ve missed for so long.

  3. Man City 'way off' Spurs' levelpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time

    FT: Man City 0-2 Tottenham

Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

There was a lot of talk after week one that this Man City team were back. I think this lets everybody take step back and reassess that.

They were way off the level that Spurs were at today. Thomas Frank assessed how his group of players could beat the opposition group of players. They looked so athletic, quick and determined.

This Spurs team, if they keep it up, they can do something this season.

City look FAR from it. Spurs deserve this win and the respect of winning away from home. Count Spurs out this season at your peril, Frank is a decent manager.

    Rae

Not a Spurs fan but Frank is the real deal. Intelligent and adaptable.

Is Thomas Frank the best signing of the summer?

Spurs are a different animal under the Dane.

    How far can they go?

A performance bursting with guts and character. A magnificent response by Tottenham's players after a difficult week for the club off the pitch.

  7. Palhinha makes his presence feltpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time

    Man City 0-2 Tottenham

Joao Palhinha has been superb for Thomas Frank's side this afternoon, making his presence felt at both ends of the pitch and scoring Spurs' second goal.

How important could he be during his season-long loan spell in north London?

Deep into stoppage time now and there are thousands of empty blue plastic seats. Wilson Odobert goes close but James Trafford makes the save moments after keeping out Dominic Solanke.

All the hype about City last week…! They’ve been found wanting already. Outfought and outplayed at home. Spurs have been right at it and deserve their lead!

    Paul

Hmmm.... Looks like the Man City hype, and the criticism of Spurs in the past week were all premature? Unfair? Exaggerated? Take your pick

What a performance from Joao Palhinha today.

Just the *ten* defensive actions for the Portugal midfielder. Some effort.

How damaging will this defeat be for Manchester City in the long run?

It's early doors, of course, but the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool can go three points clear of Pep Guardiola's side this weekend.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 89 mins

    Man City 0-2 Tottenham

By the way, Tottenham made another change earlier.

Another highly encouraging performance by Mohammed Kudus, who has been replaced by Lucas Bergvall.

This performance shows that Ange wasn't getting the best out of Spurs. For all his self-confidence with the old "I'm not changing, mate", he was lacking pragmatism. Frank the far better manager.

    What a move!

Spurs have magic in their boots as substitutes Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert combine before the latter lashes it agonisingly wide.

Manchester City are still looking to find a way back into this and Phil Foden forces Guglielmo Vicario into a save.

The Tottenham keeper, by the way, is about five minutes plus stoppages from making it two Premier League clean sheets in two this season.

James Trafford is reading it by the book and he is trying to implement the style as he's been told. Sometimes it doesn't happen like it does on the training ground.

Will Ederson return for that one - or will Pep Guardiola stick with James Trafford after this?
