    FT: Leeds 0-3 Middlesbrough

Connections all over the place this evening.

Middlesbrough midfielder Jonny Howson started for the visitors tonight and was sent off for Leeds the last time Boro won at Elland Road back in 2011.

This was the first time Boro had beaten the Whites 3-0 since March 2018. The hat-trick scorer for the Teesiders that day? Leeds' number nine Patrick Bamford.

  13. 'What a result'published at 22:05 British Summer Time 14 August

    FT: Leeds 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Neil Maddison
Former Middlesbrough midfielder on BBC Tees

What a result and what a performance, especially second half.

The shape defensively - they must have worked so hard at it because it's so much better.

  14. 'Not much depth'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 14 August

    FT: Leeds 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Adam Pope
    BBC Radio Leeds commentator

Middlesbrough have been good value for this result in the second half.

The worrying thing for Leeds, is that there doesn't look like there's much squad depth at the moment based on this.

Leeds made eight changes from the 3-3 draw with Portsmouth on the opening day.

Terrific win for Middlesbrough in this tale of two halves.

Leeds had the better of the opening exchanges of this game before the away side grew into it before the break and then went goal-mad in the second 45.

Full-back Anferenee Dijksteel went on an Alan Hutton for Aston Villa against Birmingham style run forward and gave them the lead with a beauty.

It was 2-0 when Delano Burgzorg saw his deflected effort beat Karl Darlow and, moments after Leeds boss Daniel Farke had made a quintuple sub, it was three when Josh Coburn gobbled up a loose ball in the area.

That was that on a chastening night for Leeds.

  16. Hull is round the corner for Rooneypublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 14 August

    FT: Plymouth 3-0 Cheltenham

Having said the scoreline was a little hard on Cheltenham, Plymouth finished on an xG of 3.35 to the Robins' 0.27.

Argyle had 32 attempts and eight of the 10 on target.

They host another of the teams in action tonight, Hull City, on Saturday.

The Tigers won 2-0 in Rooney's first home match of his 83-day reign at Birmingham City last season.

    Leeds 0-3 Middlesbrough

Ilia Gruev sends a free kick wide for the home side.

It was a long way out.

Not too many Leeds fans left in the ground to see it and those still there take that shot as a sign to leave.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 14 August

    Leeds 0-3 Middlesbrough

This really could have been 4-0.

Finn Azaz whips a shot across Karl Darlow from the Boro inside left but it goes narrowly wide of the post.

Leeds defender Pascal Struijk is booked for a cynical trip.

About four minutes of time added on to go.
