Great start for the Tigers and a first goal for the club for Eliot Matazo.

A corner is played short to Steven Alzate who delivers the cross to the back stick where Sean McLoughlin heads it back and Matazo pokes it home.

This is a crucial game and Hull have that early breakthrough.

  2. 'What a start!'published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Millwall 1-1 QPR

    Chris Peddy
    BBC Sport at The Den

I hope no-one has been late to their seats! Two goals inside three minutes.

First Aaron Connolly gets his first Millwall goal with a tidy finish into the bottom corner following Mihailo Ivanovic's miskick.

But QPR respond really well and Alfie Lloyd finishes a lovely team goal involving Paul Smyth and Kieran Morgan, firing across Lukas Jensen and in off the far post.

    What a start! Game on.

There was a delay in starting here in Swansea as the net is fixed - top of the goal, in the home end.

Out came the step ladder but it seems to be sorted now and finally we’re underway!

  4. goal

GOAL: Millwall 1-1 QPRpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Alfie Lloyd (3 mins)

    What?!?!

QPR hit back immediately and it's 1-1 after three minutes at The Den. Some start to this London derby.

A great move by the Hoops is finished off brilliantly by Alfie Lloyd, who breaks into the area and squeezes one in from a tight angle at the far post.

  5. 'Important Leeds get on the front foot early'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Leeds 0-0 Cardiff

    Simon Grayson
Ex-Leeds manager on BBC Radio Leeds

It's important that Leeds get on the front foot early on against a team who are on a good run but they're not the best in the league.

They've got to be weary of Callum Robinson's pace.

  6. goal

GOAL: Millwall 1-0 QPRpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Aaron Connolly (1 min)

    What. A. Start.

Aaron Connolly puts Millwall one up after 30 seconds with his first goal for the club!

The Lions work it well down the right and it comes to Connolly in the area who fires a first time effort into the far corner from about 12 yards out.

    #bbcefl

We're off and running in seven Championship games.

It's one of those rare occasions where the top three all in action at the same time. It might not happen again until the final day of the season.

Will there be any big movers and shakers in the race for automatic promotion?

  8. Millwall's club record signing Neghli introduced to fanspublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Millwall v QPR (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Peddy

He might not be involved today, but the Millwall fans have just been introduced to their new club record signing Camiel Neghli, who signed for the club yesterday.

The 23-year-old Algerian walks out at The Den for the first time and gets a warm reception from the home fans as stadium fills up.

Already very loud here, players are walking out and we're almost ready to go in the Championship's only remaining London derby this season.

  9. Can Leeds shake off Cardiff’s Elland Road hoodoo?published at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Leeds v Cardiff (15:00 GMT)

How’s this for an incredible stat? Cardiff City have lost just one of their past 13 league games at Elland Road (W7 D5), which was a 1-0 defeat in November 2015.

Championship leaders Leeds United are in impressive form at the moment, though, despite their goalless draw with promotion rivals Burnley on Monday night.

That result kept them top of the pile and extended their unbeaten run in the league to 11 games (W7 D4), while the Whites are also undefeated on home soil in 12 matches since a 1-0 defeat to Burnley in September (W11 D1).

The Bluebirds haven't lost for seven games (W3 D4) but are still only four points above the drop zone and will be keen to try and pull away from the bottom three.

It's a tough ask to pick up anything at Leeds but as history tells us, Cardiff have done it a few times before...

Derby v Sheff Utd (15:00 GMT)

There is definitely a ‘big game’ feel to this one today for a whole lot of reasons.

Two sides from opposite ends of the table, and two bosses in very different places come face-to-face at Pride Park.

Derby County are on a six-match losing Championship run at the minute. Another defeat will see them equal their worst league run for 17 years.

Rams boss Paul Warne is well aware of the pressure he is under as head coach, having said pre-match that he is a “big boy that knows how football works”.

Things could not be any different for visitors Sheffield United.

They are flying high in second spot – and are capable of going top if things go their way today - while boss Chris Wilder has signed a new contract and has people talking of him being one of their finest bosses of the modern-era if he can get their to the Premier League again.

New Hull forward Louie BarryImage source, Hull City FC

In this tale of two cities - Hull seem to have benefitted quickly from their change of boss with Ruben Selles managing to get his team out of the bottom three and above the dotted line.

A magnificent win at high-flying Sheffield United the highlight and, of course, they have been active in the January window with seven new faces, probably the most eye-catching was the capture of Louie Barry on loan from Aston Villa.

The home side will be hoping to continue their recent improvement against a Stoke team now in the care of Mark Robins. The Potters have drawn three and lost one of his four games in charge and it's likely to be a slow process to get the Staffordshire outfit moving up the table.

In fact, Robins has praised the work of Hull City in the January window and highlighted how the new faces have given them a real boost.

A defeat for either side could plunge them back below the dotted line but whatever happens here today, I think fans of both know there is a lot of drama still to come between now and the end of the season.

  12. Pompey aim to crack Burnley codepublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Portsmouth v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

A young Portsmouth fan outside Fratton ParkImage source, Rex Features

January is a time for tightening things up after the Christmas excesses and Burnley certainly took that message to heart.

Not a single goal conceded in five league games, although the only problem was three goalless draws hampered their progress towards the top two, including Monday night's bore draw with Leeds.

But those 0-0 draws were all at Turf Moor and the Clarets have been better and more prolific on the road with 31 points from 15 games - a Championship high.

However, Fratton Park in recent weeks has proven a very tough place for teams to travel with Portsmouth winning four in a row to take them out of the bottom three.

But that run was stopped by Millwall on Tuesday and they remain precariously positioned in 22nd, just two points above the dreaded bottom three.

It's been a busy couple of days at The Den with three incomings, and one of those goes straight into the team.

Luke Cundle completed his move from Wolves to line up in the Lions squad today, he replaces Duncan Watmore in attacking midfield.

First-choice goalkeeper Lukas Jensen returns in place of Liam Roberts in Alex Neil's only change to the XI that started in Tuesday's 1-0 win at Portsmouth.

Striker Ajay Matthews and club record signing Camiel Neghli are not involved today.

  14. Cifuentes stays home with illness, Dunne not in squadpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

QPR boss Marti Cifuentes hasn't travelled for the match today as the club's doctors have advised him to stay home with illness, meaning assistant head coach Xavi Calm is in charge today.

Jimmy Dunne is not in the squad following a rejected bid from Sheffield United this week, with just two days left of the transfer window.

Captain Steve Cook returns from injury, with Ronnie Edwards replacing Dunne at right-back, while Alfie Lloyd comes in up front in place of Michael Frey in the only change to the Hoops team beaten 2-0 by Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

Loan signing Yang Min-Hyeok, who joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur this week, is on the bench.

  15. A big London derby daypublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Millwall v QPR (15:00 GMT)

Alex Neil celebrates with his players after Millwall beat PortsmouthImage source, Rex Features

Millwall and QPR’s seasons are both effectively at a crossroads. The Lions have been slipping downwards in recent months and the Hoops climbing up.

Now they’ve both met somewhere in the middle (of the Championship table) and the next few results will likely determine whether they’ll be scrapping for a play-off place or trying to survive.

Millwall did end a six-game winless run with two 1-0 wins on the bounce away from home - first at Luton last weekend and then at Portsmouth on Tuesday night.

QPR, meanwhile, lost for only the second time 14 games (W8 D4) when they were beaten 2-0 by Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday.

Just one point separates the two London clubs and victory for either at The Den could put them right back in the conversation for top six contention.

  16. The more that changes...published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Hull v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

Hull City manager Ruben SellesImage source, Rex Features

Back in September, Hull City claimed a first win of the season under new German boss Tim Walter against Stoke's new head coach Narcis Pelach.

Fast forward almost five months and both bosses have gone and now it is Stoke's Mark Robins chasing his first three points against Ruben Selles' Hull.

The touchline may have different personnel involved, but the situation for those teams remains the same as they peer over their shoulders.

Side by side, 19th and 20th, but only two points above the relegation places, something needs to click if they are to make a decisive move away from danger.

Hull will hope they have that in new Aston Villa loan forward Louie Barry, who was prolific in League One for Stockport before Christmas.

  17. Will Owls extend Hatters' miserable away run?published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Sheff Wed v Luton (15:00 GMT)

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny RohlImage source, Getty Images

Sheffield Wednesday are rumbling along nicely as they look to turn themselves from second-tier strugglers to play-off contenders.

Their form has been mixed since the turn of the year, but they're on a four-match unbeaten run at home under Danny Rohl and within three points of the top six.

The direction of travel contrasts with Luton who find themselves second-bottom and bang out of form, but could today be the day that second-bottom Luton find their mojo under new boss Matt Bloomfield?

The Hatters have picked up just one point from their past seven league matches and Bloomfield heads to Hillsborough looking for a first win in his fourth match at the helm.

Their supporters must board the coach or train with more hope than expectation these days after a run of 11 straight league defeats on the road - the worst run in England's top four tiers.

Yet history, if that's a reliable guide, does provide hope. They've won seven of their past eight meetings with the Owls.

Finding it hard to remember a pre-match build up so completely dominated by chat about one player - Matt Grimes.

A Swansea club captain approaching 10 years at the club. An ever-present, on the way to earning “Swansea great” status, settled in south Wales… until he wasn’t.

He will now be watching this one play out through a Coventry lens as Frank Lampard’s new signing.

With social media ablaze with comments from both club’s fanbases, it gives this game an edge I don’t think anyone expected at the start of this week.

  19. In-form Sky Blues looking to rewrite historypublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Swansea v Coventry (15:00 GMT)

Frank Lampard arrives at the Swansea.com StadiumImage source, Rex Features

A match of contrasting ambitions as Coventry look to further ignite their hopes of a run to the play-offs, while Swansea are bidding to halt their slide towards potential relegation trouble.

The Welsh side have lost their past three in the league and their leaky defence has conceded 15 goals in their past five league outings, including a 5-1 thumping at Norwich last weekend.

In contrast, Coventry, are on a three-match winning run in the Championship under Frank Lampard and looking to win four on the bounce for the first time since November 2022.

Yet to do so they'll have to halt a miserable run of results against the Swans.

They've failed to win any of their 18 league meetings, stretching back more than 43 years, and haven't won a league game in Swansea in their past 12 visits.

  20. Warne needs to spin Rams out of a holepublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Derby v Sheff Utd (15:00 GMT)

Derby manager Paul Warne shouts from the touchlineImage source, Rex Features

Championship matches do not come much more important than this one with issues at both ends of the table.

Quite simply, Derby County and Paul Warne are desperate for a win.

The Rams have lost six in a row and gone out of the FA Cup to Leyton Orient in a dreadful run that has seen them slip into the relegation zone.

Warne was relegated on his previous Championship cracks with Rotherham and doubts persist within the fanbase about whether he can keep Derby up.

On the other hand, Chris Wilder's future at Sheffield United is rock solid after signing a contract extension in midweek.

The Blades are second and determined to make a return to the Premier League at the first attempt although they were shocked by Hull City last time out.

Many Blades fans will probably have this trip to Pride Park circled for three points as they plot that top-two finish.
