Perhaps unsurprisingly Gary Caldwell has kept faith with the same Grecians XI which thumped Blackpool 4-1 last Saturday.

Nigel Clough has made four changes to the Stags side which suffered a late defeat at home to Doncaster last weekend.

Jordan Bowery, George Maris, Frazer Blake-Tracy and summer signing Luke Bolton are handed starts.

Ryan Sweeney misses out while Elliot Hewitt, Kyle McAdam and Dom Dwyer drop to the bench.

Mansfield make the long trip to St James Park for a lunchtime kick-off seeking to avoid their worst start in 26 years.

The Stags lost 2-1 at Burton and dramatically by the same score at home to Doncaster in their opening two fixtures - they haven’t lost three straight to start a campaign since 1999 while in the bottom tier.

Nigel Clough’s side have picked up just one point from their past four visits to Exeter, going winless since March 2019.

Last Saturday’s 4-1 thumping of Blackpool made it four home games unbeaten for Gary Caldwell’s Grecians, who began their season with a 1-0 defeat at Doncaster.

What a way to start the day...

Burton will seek to maintain their impressive home form when Port Vale come to town this lunchtime.

Albion’s form at the Pirelli Stadium was the foundation of their great escape last season with 21 points from their past 11 home games in League One.

The Brewers beat Mansfield 2-1 at home on the opening day, before a last-gasp 3-2 defeat at Barnsley last weekend, while Port Vale followed-up their 2-1 defeat at Rotherham with a battling stalemate against Cardiff.

Darren Moore’s men did however win 1-0 at Blackpool in the EFL Cup in midweek, while Burton’s tie at Tranmere was postponed due to a power failure. Vale go into this game seeking a third straight win at the Pirelli Stadium.

The visitors have also mustered 34 shots on goal across their opening two league games, more than any side in the division.

Two games, two draws for Oldham as they settle back to life in the EFL. Today they’ll be searching for their first EFL win since April 2022 after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Colchester last time out.

Micky Mellon has named Charlie Olson on the bench after signing the defender on a season-long loan from Blackburn earlier in the week. Will Sutton and Luke Hannant both start while Kane Drummond is named on the bench.

Swindon go into today’s game after being knocked out of the EFL Cup on Tuesday by Cardiff.

It’s been a mixed start to their League Two season after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Walsall on the opening day, but they bounced back to beat Cambridge at home last Saturday.

The Robins have a good record as they head to Greater Manchester. They are unbeaten across their past three away EFL games against the Latics (W2 D1), since a 2-0 loss at Boundary Park in April 2016.

Aaron Drinan and Finley Munroe return to the Swindon starting XI, while Ollie Clarke, Gavin Kilkenny and Jake Tabor all miss out.

  7. Lopata to make debut for the Gaspublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 16 August

Chesterfield v Bristol Rovers (12:30 BST)

    Chesterfield starting XIImage source, Opta

Chesterfield have posted an unchanged line-up from last week's 2-0 victory over Cheltenham with both goal scorers Lee Bonis and Dylan Duffy looking for more from the get-go.

There will be a debut for new Bristol Rovers signing Kacper Lopata, who joined on loan from Barnsley on Thursday.

He replaces Taylor Moore as part of the side's three changes.

Fabrizio Cavegn and Isaac Hutchinson join Moore on the bench as Ellis Harrison rotates into the XI.

Meanwhile, Ryan Howley makes his league return after missing last week's loss to Fleetwood Town.

Bristol Rovers Head Coach Darrell Clarke talks ahead of Saturday's trip to Chesterfield.

Bristol Rovers have not started life in League Two as brightly as they would have liked.

Having suffered relegation to the fourth tier at the end of last season, this campaign is proving to be just as much a struggle after they lost both their opening two league matches, as well as their Carabao Cup encounter with Cambridge United.

It means they are winless as they head to Chesterfield but Rovers boss Darrell Clarke said the fans still have faith the team can turn things around.

"I'm comfortable with the process of where we need to get to," Clarke told BBC Radio Bristol.

"But within that, it's a massive jigsaw puzzle and you're trying to put all the pieces together.

"Nobody wants to work with patience or time in football, but I feel I've got the trust of the fanbase that I'm going to get it right."

In English class, you might have learnt that that the 'power of three' makes things more memorable. So just how much of the third Saturday of the League One and Two season will be worth remembering?

We will see what promoted Bradford City can provide for their fans when League One contenders Luton Town come to visit, while Huddersfield Town will want to retain their top dog status as they visit slow-starters Blackpool.

Bromley, fresh off their Carabao Cup upset against Championship side Ipswich Town, will be oozing confidence when they host Crawley this afternoon, but they will need to avoid a celebration hangover if they are to remain unbeaten this season.

But before all that we get going with four 12:30 BST games as a warm-up for the excitement to come - care to tag along?
