  1. Shinnie back to see off Spartans?published at 14:35 British Summer Time 27 July

    Shinnie's back. Back again...

A winner takes all tussle in West Lothian.

Livingston only require a point to progress as group winners, but if Dougie Samuel's Spartans pull off a big win, they'd nip ahead on goal difference.

They visit a Livi side who have Andrew Shinnie back, though. The attacker initially left at the end of the season, but he's back in familiar surroundings after rejoining the club. Like he never left...

Elsewhere, Cove Rangers travel down to Fife after they were sanctioned for fielding a suspended player in two group games.

Cove had played striker Grady McGrath, who had a two-match suspension from his time with Brechin City, in their 5-0 defeat by Spartans and a 1-1 draw with Forfar, who then took the penalty shootout bonus point.

The altered result means Forfar are now level with Spartans, but the Angus side have already played all four games.

  2. Dundee dominance in Group Dpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 27 July

    Group D

    This'll be short and sweet.

Nothing can happen in Group D.

Dundee have already qualified and no one else in the group can join them, as whoever finishes second won't be among the three-best tallies to progress.

Annan Athletic are currently in second on seven points, but have completed their group games.

They're playing for pride in Midlothian, with Bonnyrigg Rose and Arbroath both searching for their first win.

  3. Gray demands 'reaction' against Blue Toonpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 27 July

    Group C

As I mentioned, our radio commentary today comes from Easter Road where Hibernian host Peterhead.

David Gray said there "were no excuses" for Hibs' shock defeat to Kelty Hearts last Saturday, but stressed "a reaction is important" this afternoon.

The Hibees are still top, but Peterhead and Queen's Park are both on six points so no doubt the Spiders will be keen to pounce on any slip-up in the capital.

Another group here that second spot could be enough for progression.

  4. Champions face off in FK2published at 14:29 British Summer Time 27 July

    Group B

    This could be a cracker.

Last season's League 1 champions, Falkirk, host local rivals and reigning League 2 champions, Stenhousemuir, in a tasty tie in Group B.

The pair were actually meant to meet in a pre-season friendly to mark Stenny's 140th anniversary, but when the draw was made, that was quickly cancelled.

Any win for the Bairns will take them above current top spot holders, Dundee United, who have played all their games.

Jim Goodwin's side could drop to third if Ayr United pick up a win too against Buckie Thistle.

  5. Goals, goals and... goalspublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 27 July

    Group A

This is one of the uber-exciting groups, where eyes must be kept on both games.

Aberdeen know a point will do for top spot, but Jimmy Thelin stressed yesterday his side are going for the win and a flawless group campaign.

He also said we can expect to see Bojan Miovski involved again.

Airdrieonians are the second-best current incumbents of a second spot across the groups with an impressive +8 goal difference.

The Diamonds impressed many at Pittodrie on Tuesday and will hope to repeat that performance with a few goals, too.

But their visitors, Queen of the South, know too that a win will take them on to a very competitive nine points.

  10. Who needs what to reach League Cup last 16?published at 14:11 British Summer Time 27 July

    It's never straightforward, is it?

Well, actually, for some teams today it is. A fair few have their fate in their own hands.

But for some, fingers and toes are crossed that other teams can do them a turn.

Speaking of helping out, we've put together a wee piece detailing the tale of the tape in each group.

    Hiya.

13 Premier Sports Cup ties to get stuck into today with 10 qualifying places for the last 16 up for grabs.

For many, it's their last outing before their league season starts, too, so plenty to play for.

There's no grand opening ceremony to the final round of fixtures like in Paris last night, so there's no point waiting for Celine Dion to cue me in.

Lets get going in three, two, one...
