  2. CLOSE!published at 19:56 BST

    Millwall 0-0 Coventry

Coventry pick up the first corner of the game and ooph, it's a dangerous one.

It's whipped towards the back post as Brandon Thomas-Asante is diving in to try and knock a header into the net.

The Lions defender does enough to block the Sky Blues attacker though and Thomas-Asante can't guide it towards the target.

    Millwall 0-0 Coventry

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto's messy pass hands Millwall possession and begins an attack.

The ball is distributed inside the box but straight into the Coventry keeper's gloves to see the chance go to waste.

Some kinks to iron out but the hosts look like they'd like an early bite.

Hello from what is at the moment a quite empty Fratton Park ahead of kick off.

Road delays into Portsmouth mean some fans might be late for tonight's game with the stands much emptier compared to how they usually are this close to getting under way.

This feels like a big game for Pompey and one they need to pick points up in.

The Hornets have only won twice this season, with one of those victories coming in their last league game against Hull City.

Queens Park Rangers make five changes to host Oxford.

Rumarn Burrell, Koki Saito, Jonathan Varane, Nicolas Madsen and Liam Morrison all rotate to the bench as Michael Frey, Karamoko Dembele, Sam Field, Isaac Hayden and Steve Cook start.

Oxford stick with the same squad from their loss to Sheffield United on the weekend.

  11. In-form Hoops host deflated Oxfordpublished at 19:34 BST

After being humbled in a 7-1 loss to Coventry at the end of August, Queens Park Rangers enjoyed a stellar September.

They collected 10 points out of a possible 12, including keeping a clean sheet during their win over high-flying Stoke City.

But visitors Oxford United know all too well that a run of form doesn't protect you against a weakened opponent.

The U's collected five points against promotion-challengers Leicester City, Coventry City and Bristol City, the latter supplying them their first win of the season, but all that built-up confidence came crashing down when they lost to basement club Sheffield United last time out.

Now Oxford will be hoping to give the Hoops a taste of that disappointment in a bid to drag themselves out of the bottom three.

Norwich make three changes as they look for their first home points of the season.

In come Emiliano Marcondes, Jose Cordoba and Ante Crnac.

Jakov Medic, Liam Gibbs and Jovon Makama are on the bench.

West Brom bring in Josh Maja up front with Aune Heggebo among the substitutes.

  13. Canaries and Baggies yet to lift offpublished at 19:30 BST

Norwich v West Brom (19:45 BST)

New broom, new manager = new Norwich?

Well, not quite, at least not yet anyway.

The Canaries went to some lengths to tempt Liam Manning, fresh from reaching the play-offs with Bristol City, to return to the city of his birth in June.

It's early days but City are three points worse off than they were at this stage last season and have lost their opening three home league games - they've never lost four in a row at the start of a campaign.

A raft of new signings are yet to 'click' but perhaps more importantly they have retained the services of striker Josh Sargent who already has six goals this season.

West Brom arrive in Norfolk with two wins from their past three games on the road which is more than they'd managed in the previous 20.

A promising start under rookie boss Ryan Mason remains just that despite a run of only one point from a possible nine.

"My opinion on my group of players hasn't changed," Mason told BBC Radio WM.

"I really believe in them and what we're doing - we're in a good place, we really trust what we're doing and I'm sure the results will come with it."

These two have very recent Premier League experience, you get the feeling results need to come quite soon if they're to stand a chance of a return this season.

  14. Four changes for Pompey; five for Watfordpublished at 19:28 BST

    Portsmouth v Watford (19:45 BST)

Once again there's no Josh Murphy for Portsmouth in a team showing four changes from that beaten by Ipswich at the weekend.

Jordan Williams, skipper Marlon Pack, John Swift and Conor Chaplin get starting berths.

Mark Kosznovszky, Luke Le Roux, Zak Swanson and Adrian Segecic are among the substitutes

There are five changes to the Watford side which started Saturday's win over Hull City.

Goalkeeper Egil Selvik returns from injury while Moussa Sissoko, James Abankwah, Caleb Wiley and Hector Kyprianou all start.

Kevin Keben is rested but Nathan Baxter, Jeremy Ngakia, Edo Kayembe and Nampalys Mendy are all on the bench.

  15. Pompey chase home comforts against travel sick Hornetspublished at 19:25 BST

    Portsmouth v Watford (19:45 BST)

Such was Portsmouth's home form last season it takes a second glance to believe they have lost two of their first three league games at Fratton Park.

Only sides finishing in the Championship's top six won more home matches than Pompey's 11 last year but tonight they find themselves trying to avoid back-to-back league defeats at fortress Fratton for the first time since September 2024.

Successive losses to Sheffield Wednesday and at Ipswich have also suddenly threatened to overshadow what has been a very creditable start to their second campaign back in the Championship.

Injuries aren't helping boss John Mousinho with defender Conor Shaughnessy the latest to join the list while winger Josh Murphy sits out a third match with an ankle injury.

Watford's troubles, and those of their latest boss Paulo Pezzolano in particular, have been alleviated by Saturday's 2-1 win over Hull City but on the road they have huge problems.

One point from their past eight away games and five straight defeats at Portsmouth are hardly cause for optimism tonight.

These two need a win, but will they cancel each other out?

  16. Mitchell returns to Millwall XI; Sky Blues unchangedpublished at 19:23 BST

    Millwall v Coventry (19:45 BST)

    Millwall XIImage source, Opta

Billy Mitchell makes the starting XI for Millwall after coming off the bench against Swansea last time out as he returns from a quad injury.

Femi Azeez also makes the squad after five games out but Josh Coburn is ruled out after suffering a knock.

Massimo Luongo also misses out while Thierno Ballo, Ryan Leonard and Will Smallbone are available from the bench.

Mihailo Ivanovic, Camiel Neghli, Luke Cundle and Wes Harding complete the starting line-up.

Coventry named an unchanged squad after a dominant performance against Birmingham but there's still no Jack Rudoni, who is set to be out of action for "weeks" with a calf problem.

There are only two sides in the Championship yet to fall to defeat this season - league leaders Middlesbrough and third-placed Coventry City.

Boro extended their run to an eighth game yesterday with a goalless encounter with Stoke City and tonight, the Sky Blues will be hoping to match them against Millwall, but doing so may prove tricky.

Alex Neil's side are the only team to have served Coventry a loss since the season started in August, doing so with a 2-1 victory in the Carabao Cup.

Can they repeat the feat at The Den once more or will Coventry's defiance prove strong enough to see them soar into the top two unblemished?

Coventry City will have the opportunity to rise into the top two should they keep their undefeated run going at The Den this evening.

A victory for Oxford against QPR will see them out of the bottom three while the Hoops, West Bromwich Albion and Millwall will all be eager to settle into the top six with three points of their own.
