Well this isn't good timing for Pep Guardiola. Manuel Akanji is down after a head collision.

No Ruben Dias. No John Stones. Guardiola will be crossing his fingers that Akanji is OK to continue.

Worried about that Liverpool first half, but Bayer Leverkusen will have lined up to stop us. I feel we’ll be more prepared now we know what to expect

    Sporting 3-1 Man City

What an incredible start to this second half. There's only 50 minutes on the clock.

Manchester City have got a serious job on their hands now. They have struggled so much this season keeping a clean sheet.

What was Josko Gvardiol thinking? His foul on Trincao was just utterly unnecessary.

Brilliant penalty. Viktor Gyokeres slams home and Ederson has no chance of saving that.

Conceding right from kick off is absolutely criminal! You can’t defend that! Shocking!

Goodness me! What a start to the second half!

A ridiculous challenge from Josko Gvardiol. Oh dear. The wheels have fallen off for Manchester City.

    Maximiliano Araujo (46 mins)

    Straight from the kick-off!

Glorious pass threaded through for Maximiliano Araujo and he glances up, picks his spot and slots it straight through Ederson's legs.

That must've been some half-time team talk - 20 seconds from the kick-off.

Sporting have had three shots, two on target.

But City haven't made them count so far and have been punished for it.

City look well off it this season. Don't put teams away when they have the chance and very shaky at the back.

    HT: Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Leverkusen have been very good in possession without really hurting Liverpool. In contrast Liverpool have looked more dangerous on the counter attack, but as we said both teams are lacking that bit of quality in the final third.

  20. Postpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Cody Gakpo has a lot of space on the left-side of the penalty area, but the shot is straight at the middle of goal. Lukas Hradecky, looking solid so far, has his angles spot on and the ball bounces off him and away.

Gakpo might be a bit disappointed he didn't make that tougher for the keeper.
