  1. 'That is Liverpool at their best'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Outstanding counter attacking football from Liverpool. The movement between Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz is very good and they find Mo Salah. He lays it off to Curtis Jones, who tries to curl it into the top corner but doesn't quite catch it. That is Liverpool at their best.

  2. AC Milan lead in the Bernabeupublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Real Madrid 0-1 AC Milan

Well, just as I said Kylian Mbappe had come close to putting Real Madrid ahead, they're now behind!

  3. 'Awareness from both teams how they can hurt each other'published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

There is a real awareness from both teams around how they can hurt each other. Liverpool will try to play a bit more direct when Leverkusen have the ball. Leverkusen tend to have their centre-halves step in and that leaves space for a diagonal ball over the top.

    Sporting 0-1 Man City

    Another chance for Erling Haaland.

It's a brilliant pass from Matheus Nunes close to the half-way line on the left. Haaland picks it up on the right-hand side of the penalty box and takes it on the half-volley but he snatches at it and it's well wide.

  5. Postpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

A good move from Liverpool. Luis Diaz starts it off down the left wing with a bright run forwards from the halfway line, Mohamed Salah nudges the ball back into the direction of Curtis Jones and he strikes low at goal from 18 yards out.

But Leverkusen keeper Lukas Hradecky is well positioned and able to dive forwards and claim the ball close to the ground.

  6. Gyokeres had too much time, and not enoughpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Sporting 0-1 Man City

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter in Lisbon

    That was so strange.

Manchester City were completely out of shape, allowing Viktor Gyokeres to run straight into the visitors' box.

He had time to make up his mind what to do but was moving so quickly everything looked rushed.

He went for the chip and completely failed to execute.

It was like he had all the time in the world and none at the same moment.

Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen side trying to keep possession to take the heat out of the Anfield atmosphere, just slowing the tempo down and easing their way into the game.

Those fireworks are still going outside Anfield - there has been a lot of money spent somewhere tonight.

  8. Mbappe comes close for Madridpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Real Madrid 0-0 AC Milan

Phil Foden's goal for Manchester City is the only goal across Europe in the late kick-offs.

Kylian Mbappe has come close a couple of times to putting Real Madrid in the lead against AC Milan but it remains all square in the Bernabeu.

  9. Postpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have only won one of their 11 away major European matches in England (drawn three, lost seven), beating Tottenham 1-0 in November 2016; they’ve lost both of their two visits to Anfield.

    End-to-end stuff here.

Erling Haaland forces Franco Israel into a save before Sporting get up the other end but it's snuffed out by two City defenders.

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

These Leverkusen players have ideas in their heads, they just know where their next pass is. It is a clear understanding of how the manager wants them to play.

  12. Postpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Sporting 0-1 Man City

Just as I say that, Sporting get on the counter attack after Rico Lewis loses the ball and Viktor Gyokeres races through.

He gets himself one-on-one with Ederson but the finish is really poor and straight at the Brazilian. With the form he's in, you really expected him to do better.

  13. 'Might have a great game in store'published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

If this opening six minutes is anything to go by then we might have a great game in store. Both sides are probing and trying to find gaps in midfield.

Cody Gakpo has seen plenty of the ball so far for Liverpool with a couple of shooting chances, one outside the penalty area and one inside it.

But on both occasions the shot doesn't reach the goal with solid Leverkusen defending resulting in a couple of decent blocks.

    Sporting 0-1 Man City

Sporting goalkeeper Franco Israel will probably think he should've done better with that goal when he watches it back.

Manchester City have started really well, Sporting look a little pedestrian at the minute.

  16. Postpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has scored in each of his last five Champions League appearances at Anfield (five goals). The last player to score in six consecutive home games in the competition for an English club was Ruud van Nistelrooy, for Manchester United in April 2003 (six).

GOAL - Sporting 0-1 Man Citypublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Phil Foden (4 mins)

That's how you bounce back from back-to-back defeats.

Sporting lose the ball deep in their own half and it falls to Phil Foden on the edge of the penalty area.

He glances to his left wondering whether to lay it off for Matheus Nunes but decides to shoot himself and fires off with his left foot, slamming into the back of the net.

Amorim is presented with a gift marking his time at the clubImage source, PA Media

There was a presentation to Ruben Amorim just before the teams stood for a moment's silence in honour of the victims of the floods in Spain.

The suggestion has been many supporters are not happy with Amorim leaving for Manchester United in mid-season.

If that is the case they set their feelings aside this evening as there was a huge ovation for Amorim, with his name being sung as he made his way off the pitch.

  20. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

A first chance of the game comes from the visitors, but Victor Boniface, standing on the edge of the Liverpool penalty area, can't get a clean connection and screws his shot well wide.
