There are very few places in English football that are louder than the City Ground when the home team is playing well and today the decibel levels must be close to maximum level. Nottingham Forest have been by far the better side and it should be more than 1 nil but with Edson Alvarez sent off they’ll be confident of scoring more goals second half.

To add insult to injury for Alvarez, after he was shown the red card he walked off the pitch the wrong way. He thought the tunnel was in the corner of the stadium when it’s in the centre. The Forest fans loved that.

Leicester boss Steve Cooper is sat along the row from me in the stands, and his change in posture was reflective of how the half played out. First 20 minutes, he sat back, relaxed, and watched on as Mavididi fluffed their best chance, after Vardy squared to him from across the box. Buonanotte and Fatawu also drew saves from Muric.

After that bright start Cooper was sat forward, hunched over the desk, during numerous Ipswich chances. Most clear cut saw Szmodics and O’Shea both head over, when you could strongly argue they should instead have rippled the net.
