    The Championship table bottom 10

Down below the fold and it makes grim reading for Plymouth fans.

Their 1-0 loss to QPR at lunchtime, along with Cardiff's 3-0 thrashing of Swansea in the South Wales derby, Portsmouth's 2-1 defeat of Middlesbrough and Hull's 1-0 victory over Millwall, leaves them five points adrift at the foot of the table.

Hull, Pompey and Luton all sit on 26, with the south coast club and the Hatters in the drop zone on goal difference, though Portsmouth have a game in hand.

Derby's poor run means they continue to slide down the table.

I think it is the best win so far, it's a performance where Middlesbrough were the better team first half, and Pompey showed great spirit in the second half.

Ritchie has turned it around and as a Pompey lad, it's a dream come true for him.

The atmosphere was fantastic, when they're behind them, the fans don't stop and it really spurs on the players.

Middlesbrough miss the chance to move into the top six after Blackburn's defeat by Oxford and West Brom's draw with Stoke.

A reminder that this game was delayed by around 30 minutes due to a medical emegency in the stands at Fratton Park.

    Wow.

Matt Ritchie take a bow. He's singlehandedly turned this game around. He finds his second as Portsmouth come from behind to lead Middlesbrough and it's fortuitous as his effort rebounds off the bar to go in.

Potentially a massive goal in their survival fight.

  8. Postpublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Matt Ritchie has the bit between his teeth.

Having equalised for Portsmouth he tries his luck to find a second, and possible winner, against Middlesbrough.

I thought Murphy would take another touch and speed past his man for the one-on-one.

That's a chance you have to take in a game like this!

  11. CLOSE!published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

  14. 'Preston lack cutting edge'published at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

    FT: Luton 0-0 Preston

    Mick Payne
England C goalkeeping coach on BBC Radio Lancashire

At the end of the day, they had a go. The second half was better than the first.

The Luton backline made it really tough, in terms of creativity that's where Paul Heckingbottom will want more - Preston just lacked a bit of cutting edge up top.

It was there to win, the game got stretched, and Luton made changes to get over the line. All in all, the Luton keeper didn't have to do much.

  15. Postpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

A reminder that we've still got just over 20 minutes remaining in Portsmouth's game against Middlesbrough.

That's because of a medical emergency at Fratton Park halting play for 30 minutes earlier on.

It's still 1-1 as things stand in a finely poised game with plenty at stake for either side at both ends of the table.
