  1. Five coaches to leave Chelsea and join Hayespublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 21 May

Five members of Emma Hayes' staff at Chelsea will leave the club and join her set-up with the United States women's national team, the WSL champions have announced.

Denise Reddy, Stuart Searle, Bart Caubergh, Ferdia O'Hanrahan and Cameron Meighan have left the Blues following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea won their fifth successive WSL title with a 6-0 win at Manchester United on Saturday, in what was also Hayes' final match in charge.

  2. Scotland v Israel behind closed doorspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 21 May

The Women's Euro 2025 qualifier between Scotland and Israel will be played behind closed doors, the Scottish FA have announced.

The game will be played at Hampden Park on 31 March.

The Scottish FA said the decision has been made due to "updated intelligence and following extensive security consultations with all key parties", and said all fans who paid for tickets will be refunded.

The decision has been made due "to the potential for planned disruptions to the match" as a result of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

The away fixture, due to be played in Hungary on June 4, will also be played behind closed doors.

Mary Earps, England women’s goalkeeper, speaking to BBC Newsbeat’s sports reporter Elizabeth Conway: “You're thinking about a major tournament pretty much all year and you're thinking about your form or you're thinking about how you can best prepare yourself and improve yourself to be in tip top shape for the summer.

“I think when they get the call it will be joy, excitement, and probably relief as well.

“Then they can just get their focus right ready for the tournament.

“Of course I’m rooting for the boys. Yeah I can’t wait, a summer of footy, what’s better than that?”

@DaveJames1664 on “X”: Who would be your number two goalkeeper?

Good name for a question about keepers. My choice would be Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

Everton’s Jordan Pickford has had another superb season and is unchallenged but there have been injury issues around the likes of Newcastle’s Nick Pope and Crystal Palace keeper Sam Johnstone.

It leaves Ramsdale as deputy, although not ideal as he has hardly played for Arsenal this season.

  7. Pickford 'undisputed number one'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 21 May

    Alex Howell
    BBC football news reporter

Jordan Pickford is Gareth Southgate's undisputed number one. This will be the fourth major tournament where Pickford will be Southgate’s first choice. His ability to start attacks with his feet and the fact he is proven to be able to deal with big moments means his position isn’t in discussion.

The goalkeeper issue Southgate has is the back ups. Sam Johnstone was looking to be Southgate’s number two. He played in the match at Wembley against Australia ahead of Aaron Ramsdale and was due to play in the last camp before an elbow injury ended his season.

Nick Pope has not been in a squad since and has struggled with injury this season.

Aaron Ramsdale has not played regularly this season after his much publicised battle for the Arsenal number one spot with David Raya.

And Burnley’s James Trafford – an U21 Euros winner in 2023 – was dropped by Burnley after a difficult time in the Premier League.

Rangers keeper Jack Butland and Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson are the last two English goalkeepers who are playing regularly. It would be some turnaround for Henderson who after a £20m move to Palace from United was behind Johnstone.

Rashford is certainly not the player of 12 months ago, though he has the ability to come on and impact a game, I’m not sure he has the confidence at the moment!

    Ben in Lincoln

Rashford is out, and it's the right decision. He needs to leave Manchester United before he completely becomes the forgotten man. Not sure about Curtis Jones but Quansah definitely deserves a shot.

Marcus Rashford's huge dip in form encapsulates Manchester United's season.

Last term he scored 30 goals for United. The idea of him not making England's squad this summer would have been non-existent.

But this season, Rashford has struggled badly. He has lacked confidence at times and was carrying an injury for long stretches of the season.

He has scored eight goals and none since March. He featured for 15 minutes in England's friendly against Brazil, as a substitute for Anthony Gordon.

Rashford came on as a substitute against Newcastle last week when Gordon caused the home side huge problems.

Little wonder it looks likely Gordon has got the nod.

  10. Grealish's injury-hit seasonpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 21 May

    Jack GrealishImage source, Getty Images

Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has only played 20 Premier League matches this season, half of which has been as a substitute due to injuries, but he's in Gareth Southgate's squad.

Grealish has scored three goals and provided one assist, giving him an average goal contribution average in the league of one every 251 minutes.

However, of all players with over 1,000 league minutes this term, Grealish is the most fouled per 90 minutes, winning 3.7 of decisions per 90 minutes.

  11. Rashford without a goal since Marchpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 21 May

    Marcus RashfordImage source, Getty Images

Last season Marcus Rashford scored 34 games in a staggering 63 appearances for Manchester United and England.

He went on a run of 16 goals in 17 games between December 2022 and February 2023.

He's currently on a run of eight games without a goal.

Marcus Rashford had appeared in all but one of England's games this season. He didn't play in England's last match, a friendly with Belgium in March.

Rashford is a confidence player and currently has none. Based on form doesn't deserve to go. I'm curious to see if this will damage his confidence even more, hampering his performance for Man U this coming season.

Manchester United's Marcus Rashford struck seven goals and two assists in 33 Premier League games last term.

That's a goal contribution every 253 minutes, way off Cole Palmer's goal or assist every 80 minutes.

He's likely to feature for United in their FA Cup final with rivals Manchester City this weekend.

We also still don't know if Dominic Solanke will make the squad.

The striker appeared in all 38 of Bournemouth's Premier League games last season. He scored 19 goals and made three assists.

Only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak scored more Premier League goals last term.
