Can’t ask Bruno to give any more. He might have saved us from the Championship but he was the only threat we had. Apart from the money, why would he want to go to Saudi at 30?! I have no answers. Sad times

Whilst it's probably true Utd would have been in a worse position this season if not for Bruno, the club need to rebuild and if that means he goes for a decent fee, then I wish him well.

They are real but are they a metaphor for Manchester United’s current position.

The Hong Kong stadium is one of the most picturesque in the world, surrounded by tall trees and even taller buildings.

But the rain that has largely held off after yesterday’s downpour could return.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho start for what could be their final appearances for the club.

Bruno Fernandes can leave as far as I am concerned. Frankly, any player involved in ‘that’ 7-0 defeat can go. The team should’ve been disbanded the following week because aside from the credibility issue, it demoralised the team. They have never recovered. Fernandes was the disappearing skipper that day, just as he was in Bilbao the other night. We need reliability, not players who only play when in the mood.

For those wondering, 'that' 7-0 defeat was the astonishing game at Anfield in March 2023.

Any Manchester United fan who thinks this is what Fernandes wants, you need to have a serious think. I find it very hard to believe someone as dedicated as Bruno believes Saudi Arabia is a strong next step for his career. The owners are clearly trying to replace the Champions League money, selling our best player to do so might actually send us to the Championship.

  8. 'I am just a very lucky guy'published at 11:46 British Summer Time 30 May

Hong Kong v Man Utd (13:00 BST)

But, after some reflection, Bruno Fernandes slightly changed his tune when speaking after Man Utd's final Premier League game.

“I am just a very lucky guy who is living his dream in one of the best clubs in the world, in the best league in the world. What more can I ask?

“I just have to give it my all, for my team-mates, for myself, for my fans and for everyone who has been through every moment with me. That’s all.”

  9. Fernandes speaks on futurepublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 30 May

Hong Kong v Man Utd (13:00 BST)

After the Europa League final loss to Tottenham in Bilbao, Bruno Fernandes spoke about his future.

“If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash-in, football sometimes is like this.”

So Bruno might leave. Who cares? Players come, players go. He’s been captain of the worst United side in history and has to accept his share of responsibility for it. It’s about Manchester United, not this player and that player. Thanks, goodbye and good luck.

  12. Is this it for Garnacho and Fernandes?published at 11:25 British Summer Time 30 May

Hong Kong v Man Utd (13:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport chief football news reporter in Hong Kong

Could this evening's game in Hong Kong be the last time Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes play for Manchester United?

Garnacho has been told he can find another club by manager Ruben Amorim, while Fernandes has been the subject of a massive offer from Saudi Pro-League outfit Al Hilal.

They want Fernandes to be part of their squad for next month's Club World Cup, so a decision on the United skipper's future is expected imminently.

  13. Fernandes to leave Man Utd?published at 11:20 British Summer Time 30 May

Hong Kong v Man Utd (13:00 BST)

Time to talk Bruno Fernandes and the possibility that he leaves Man Utd next week to join Saudi Pro-League side Al-Hilal.

Fernandes' representatives are said to have met Al-Hilal officials in the past few days for further discussions about a move that would allow the 30-year-old to take part in the forthcoming Club World Cup.

The issue has been the topic of conversation on United's current tour of Asia.

While Fernandes has remained focused and continues to take his responsibilities as captain seriously, he has offered no guarantees about his future, which has led to some thinking he is ready to leave.
