In all my years covering Bolton Wanderers I have never seen so many fans in a stadium with short sleeved shirts on.

It has been a warm one today.

But the Wednesday fans seem to be enjoying their day so far.

Craig: Good luck to SWFC a club suffering at the hands of an owner not paying the wages of hard-working folk. Playing against BWFC, who I remember having to play the academy players in a similar circumstance.

Good point this, not so long ago that Bolton were on the brink. Hopefully some positives for Wednesday fans to draw from that...

Really bright start from the Terriers, who look to be oozing with confidence after their perfect start to their League One campaign.

Foxes keeper Jakub Stolarczyk dealt with an early corner well and was alert to Ben Wiles' speculative effort from range too.

A trip to Sunderland awaits the winner of this one.

Tonight’s skipper Ben Wiles and Ruben Roosken are the only Terriers starters who were in the XI which won 2-0 at Reading on Saturday.

By contrast Marti Cifuentes has retained four of his starters from the 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, Jakub Stolarczyk in goal, Luke Thomas, Oliver Skipp and Boubakary Soumare, with Sunday’s match-winner Wout Faes, 16-year-old hot-shot Jeremy Monga and Patson Daka among those to be brought into the fold.

As well as our featured games, there are two other ties this evening with League Two sides looking to upset third-tier opposition.

Fleetwood Town equalled their best run in this competition last season with notable wins over West Brom and Rotherham before losing at Stoke in a penalty shootout in round three.

They head to Barnsley (19:45 BST) whose best EFL Cup effort saw them reach the quarter-finals back in 1982.

Cheltenham Town meet Exeter City (19:45 BST) in a bit of a South West derby with the Robins having gone out at the first hurdle in each of the past three seasons while the Grecians made round four two years ago.

We'll bring you goal news from those two games.

Three-time winners Leicester head to Huddersfield for their first ever EFL Cup meeting aiming to avoid becoming the third Championship club ousted by lower division opponents from Yorkshire in the opening round.

Last night Ipswich went out on penalties at League Two Bromley while Middlesbrough were thumped 4-0 at home by Doncaster, Blackburn lost 2-1 at home to Bradford and Plymouth came from 2-0 down to beat QPR 3-2.

The Terriers have begun the League One season with a bang under new boss Lee Grant, pictured, sitting top of the pile after eye-catching wins over Leyton Orient and Reading, scoring five goals and conceding none against two sides who finished more than 10 points above them last season.

The Foxes came from behind to pinch a 2-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday in their first game following relegation back to the Championship on Sunday and have won 12 of their past 15 games against Town, including the last five in succession.

The omens are good for new Foxes boss Marti Cifuentes. Huddersfield have lost their past 10 ties against higher-division opposition across the past 22 years and City have progressed from their past 13 ties against lower division sides, keeping a clean sheet in the past eight of those.

  12. 'Testament to the Wednesday fan base'published at 19:34 British Summer Time 13 August

Bolton v Sheff Wed (19:45 BST)

    Adam Oxley
    BBC Radio Sheffield

The stand to our left-hand side here at the Toughsheet Community Stadium hasn't got too many fans tonight, just a couple in there, which is largely closed.

The Upper tier across looks the same, but incredibly with Sheffield Wednesday the stand away to our right has got blue and white and black and gold which is what people have been encouraged to do with the current protest at the club and it is looking pretty full.

I expect we might well see as many, if not more Wednesday fans as Bolton fans here tonight. That is testament to the fan base after everything that is happening regarding the current situation at the club.

  13. Trotters aim to heap more woe on Wednesdaypublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 13 August

Bolton v Sheff Wed (19:45 BST)

Such is the crisis swirling around Sheffield Wednesday this summer that the 1991 winners head to League One side Bolton tonight as rank outsiders with bookmakers in a two-horse race.

The threadbare Owls were stung by Leicester’s second-half comeback to win their Championship opener 2-1 on Sunday, suffered more injury woe and saw talisman Barry Bannan sent off, earning a one-match suspension.

Bolton bounced back from their opening day defeat by Stockport in League One with a one-sided home win over Plymouth on Saturday and are heavy odds-on favourites to end a seven-game winless run against Wednesday dating back nearly eight years.

The Trotters - twice beaten finalists - have progressed from round one in four straight seasons while six of Wednesday’s past 11 EFL Cup ties have been settled by spot-kicks.

I wonder whether Owls boss Henrik Pedersen (pictured) - not the former Bolton hero, by the way, for you neutrals out there, just his namesake - would settle for making that seven of 12 right now...
