That's as far as we go here tonight.

Oddly, the biggest winners were probably a team who didn't even play and dropped to third in the table...

Leaders Leicester fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat at struggling Millwall and Leeds had to settle for a point in a frustrating 0-0 draw with Sunderland.

Ipswich can go back up to the Championship summit with a home win against Watford tomorrow night.

Join us tomorrow night for coverage of that and the other five remaining midweek games from the second tier.

    Cheers!

  2. More midweek action to come...published at 22:26 British Summer Time 9 April

One night of midweek Championship football down, and one more to go.

It's now over to Ipswich to see if they can capitalise on Leicester's defeat at Millwall tonight.

Beat Watford, and they return to the top of the Championship pile.

But that's just one of the six matches on tomorrow, including a big home game for struggling Birmingham:

    • Birmingham v Cardiff
    • Bristol City v Blackburn
    • Hull City v Middlesbrough
    • Ipswich v Watford
    • Swansea v Stoke
    • West Brom v Rotherham

  3. 'A tough night' - Marescapublished at 22:22 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Millwall 1-0 Leicester

Enzo Maresca looks dejectedImage source, Rex Features

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca says his side have no time to dwell on their defeat by relegation-threatened Millwall.

Defeat leaves Leicester top, but they can be overtaken on Wednesday if Ipswich beat Watford.

"It's a tough night but we knew it would be a difficult game," Maresca told BBC Radio Leicester.

"As I've said many times, now until the end every game will be difficult because every club is playing for some target.

"We struggled a little in the first half to find space and to create chances.

"In the second half it was much better, but they scored a fantastic goal and we missed some of them.

"There is no time now to think about tonight's game, we need to be focused already in Friday's game."

It's another huge game at the top and bottom on Friday when Plymouth host the Foxes.

  4. 'We were cruising' - Breepublished at 22:18 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Southampton 2-1 Coventry

Southampton defender James Bree says victory against Coventry came as a confidence boost after a stuttered run of form

"It's a good three points and we needed that after the last few games.

"That builds confidence, I thought we played some really good stuff at times and we were cruising until they scored their goal.

"It was a sloppy one for us to give away and then we made it hard work in the last 20 or 25 minutes.

"But in the first 60, I though we were top draw. If we can play like that for a full 90 and put it together, I keep saying we will be fine."

  5. Osmajic in elite companypublished at 22:12 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Preston 4-1 Huddersfield

    Talk about super sub...

Milutin Osmajic had some impact on this game. Brought on in the 74th minute he scored a hat-trick to turn one point into three for the play-off chasing home side.

In so doing he became the first sub to come on and score a hat-trick in the top four tiers of English football this season.

He's the first to achieve the feat since Son Heung-min did it for Tottenham in September 2022.

  6. Whites fail to capitalise on Leicester losspublished at 22:06 British Summer Time 9 April

FT: Millwall 1-0 Leicester; Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

    Championship top 10

How crucial might Leicester's game in hand be come the end of the season?

Leeds will feel it's a huge missed opportunity tonight after they drew with Sunderland.

Norwich looked to be set fair to nail down a play-off but conceded two late goals to draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

Preston came back from a goal down to hammer Huddersfield 4-1 and welcome the Canaries to Deepdale on Saturday in a game that could go a long way to deciding who ends up pinching sixth spot.

  7. Lions show teeth to down Foxespublished at 22:03 British Summer Time 9 April

FT: Millwall 1-0 Leicester; Plymouth 1-1 QPR; Sheff Wed 2-2 Norwich

    Bottom of the Championship

It stays as tight as ever at the bottom of the Championship. Any two of nine sides could still go down...

Sheffield Wednesday miss the chance to climb out of the bottom three for the first time since August but a point is enough to see them in the relegation zone on goal difference only.

Millwall's stunning win over leaders Leicester moves them four points clear of trouble.

  9. 'Frustrating Leeds'published at 22:00 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

    Aidy White
Former Leeds United full-back on BBC Radio Leeds

Such a frustrating one. This season Leeds have been so good and we are so used to seeing decent performances from them but tonight they've been off it - just like Leicester.

There was no real quality in the final third, not as dynamic a performance as we've seen from them. Although it's a point gained, ultimately it's two dropped.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 9 April

    Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

Leeds go back up to second but stubborn Sunderland stop them from securing a 10th straight home victory.

The Whites had 70% of the possession in this game but registered just one shot on target.

Leicester's defeat means they've closed the gap on the Foxes to just a point but, with Ipswich playing tomorrow, will slip back to third should Town avoid defeat.

    Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

Into three minutes of time added on.

Willy Gnonto's shot deflects over for a corner and then the set piece is headed over.

Boss Daniel Farke is furious that there's only been three minutes added on.

I expect he might have something to say about the penalty his side didn't get for the Luke O'Nien handball a few minutes ago too...

    Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland fans saw their team ship five goals at home to struggling Blackburn the other week.

Fair play Leeds haven't been at their best tonight but, into the last minute, the home side have had one shot on target all game in this one.

Some turnaround from the Black Cats.

  13. 'The play-off push is on'published at 21:50 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Preston 4-1 Huddersfield

    Sanny Rudravajhala
BBC Radio 5 Live at Deepdale

“He’s magic you know…” echoes around Deepdale. Milutin Osmajic has swept home for a 15 minute hat-trick and what a turnaround for Preston.

It’s a hammer blow to the confidence of Huddersfield as they battle to survive in this division but it’s exactly the response Ryan Lowe would have wanted from his side going 1-0 down at the break.

The Preston boss described this week as the most important of the season and with Norwich here next, the play-off push is on.

  14. Postpublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 9 April

    Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

If Sunderland can hold out here, quite a big if, they will be the first team to stop Leeds scoring at Elland Road since Sheffield Wednesday on 2 September.

  15. Postpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 9 April

    Leeds 0-0 Sunderland

Heading into the final five minutes at Elland Road.

Sunderland very much living on their nerves as the home side look for a winner that would send them back to the top of the table.

  16. 'What a performance'published at 21:45 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Millwall 1-0 Leicester

    Aaron Paul
    BBC Radio 5 Live reporter

They love playing the big boys do Millwall. What a performance from Neil Harris’ side under the lights at their beloved Den. They were organised, tenacious and technically excellent when they needed to be, holding off a Leicester side that have played some really swashbuckling stuff at times.

THEN they get the bonus of a stunner from Ryan Longman to seal all three points.

This is a huge result at both ends of the table, for Leicester, the gap to Leeds is a point, but the Foxes crucially, have a game in hand at the top. Millwall go four points clear of safety, enough breathing space? Who knows, but this win will certainly fuel them for the onward journey.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 9 April

    Millwall 1-0 Leicester

Relegation-threatened Millwall have pulled off a seismic victory against Championship high-flyers Leicester.

    The aftershocks could be significant.

If Leeds win tonight, they will overtake the Foxes at the summit.

Ipswich can also go above Leicester if they win tomorrow.

As for the Lions, they leap four points and five places clear of the drop zone.

  18. Postpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 9 April

    Millwall 1-0 Leicester

Another big chance goes begging for Leicester.

Patson Daka is found at the near post, but he gets his header all wrong and it goes harmlessly off target.

  19. Norwich should have won 5-0'published at 21:43 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Sheff Wed 2-2 Norwich

    Leigh Bromby
Former Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich defender on BBC Radio Norfolk

I did not see that coming. I was willing to put money on Norwich getting more goals.

Norwich will be disappointed but they were actually very good today. It was a really good performance, the only critique is they should have won the game 5-0. They should have won the game.

  20. Postpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 9 April

    Millwall 1-0 Leicester

We are into seven minutes of injury time at the Den and Leiester's Kelechi Iheanacho sees a header cleared off the line.

It's an utterly brilliantly piece of backtracking defending by Billy Mitchell, as he got himself in the exact right spot at the perfect time to nod the effort over.
