Lando Norris is told his race is with Max Verstappen in third. Does mean the Briton is out of contention for the race win already?

We are still seeing the medium tyre on the top ten [apart from Stroll] still being faster and doing faster times. The hard tyre at this point is not quite as quick it seems.

While Oscar Piastri stays focused at the front of the field, the gap between Lando Norris in second and Max Verstappen in third is 2.9 seconds. Lewis Hamilton, Silverstone winner supreme, is a further 1.2 seconds behind Verstappen.

Fastest lap of the race stopwatch is way down the pack at the door of Nico Hulkenberg's Haas in 13th place. Lance Stroll's perky red tyres are keeping the Canadian in P7 ahead of the RB of Yuki Tsunoda.

Lance Stroll is doing an amazing job at keeping the soft tyre alive.

The gap out in front now is three seconds for Oscar Piastri to play with. On a track with minimal chances to overtake, the Australian must be giddy at the position he finds himself in. But as we know, there is loooong way to go in this race...

Just behind the Bottas-Russell due is the patched-up Red Bull of Sergio Perez. The Mexican is 11th place now, so not in the points just yet, but how desperate will he be to collect some gold coins in Hunagary today?

George Russell was a surprise knockout in Q1 yesterday but the Mercedes driver has climbed the field already and is running in the points now following those pit stops and sits in 10th place behind Valtteri Bottas.

It's crucial for the likes of Verstappen because DRS is powerful around here.

On the Red Bull we know that the DRS is really powerful than it is on some others [cars].

Fernando Alonso started on the soft tyre and they've now been dumped for for some yellow medium rubber. Daniel Ricciardo has also visited the pits to get some hard tyre.

Alonso is 15th, Albon is 16th, Magnussen is 17th and Ricciardo is 18th.

Alex Albon and Kevin Magnussen have come into the pits at the same time. Both drivers have switched over to hard compound of tyre.

Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri has built a nice little 2.5-second gap to McLaren team-mate Lando Norris.

I wouldn't say that any one of those three cars necessarily do anything wrong, that's just a consequence of having everyone bubbling in the first corner.

I can understand why Max is upset but I can understand why Norris is upset.

After some words from his engineer, Max Verstappen moves over and lets the McLaren of Lando Norris go through. "OK, so you can just run people off the track then?" says the Dutchman on the radio. He also mentions the FIA in his message. He is not happy.

Sho: Another poor start from Lando. Max should be giving that place back though.

Andrew Priestley: Verstappen at his lark again. Leaving the track then gaining an advantage before then pushing Hamilton off the track around the outside of Turn 3. You can’t have it both ways, Max. No matter how many times you try it.
