  1. Double bogey at 18 for Brownpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -3 (73)

Fine effort from Dan Brown but an excellent round has come unstuck right at the end.

He's played so well but he'll have to put aside thoughts of being in the final group on Sunday.

    Double bogey at the last.

  2. Postpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -5, Lowry -2 (17)

Shane Lowry doesn't get enough on it and he's going to be left with 21 feet for par.

As for Brown, he hasn't gone at the flag and it's rolled away to nearly 30 feet away.

He was probably worried about the steep face of the bunker but suddenly he's contemplating a double bogey here.

    BBC Two

Still action going on, of course, but just to let you know that the BBC's two-hour television highlights of day three's play are under way on BBC Two.

You can also watch it later on the BBC iPlayer.

    Brown -5, Lowry -2 (17)

A fan has just thrown Shane Lowry back his ball.

He'll play the same one and he does have some space to land this on the green and give himself a sniff of par.

  5. Postpublished at 20:14 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -5, Lowry -2 (17)

Oh yikes, is it unravelling for Dan Brown as he takes his chip and lands it straight in one of these bunkers that flank the 18th green.

He gets a brilliant reception as he stalks towards the finish.

Shane Lowry is not hitting it from the stands - that counts as a temporary movable obstruction according to the rules official - so he'll get a drop one club length away.

  6. 'Brilliant from start to finish from both of them'published at 20:14 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -4 (69) Rose -3 (73)

    Graeme Storm
Two-time European Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Live

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish from both of them.

All the fans who stayed to watch have just witnessed a fantastic celebration from Justin Rose.

  7. Rose through in 73published at 20:11 British Summer Time 20 July

    Rose -3 (73)

Justin Rose chips beautifully out the bunker at the 18th and then nails a slightly tricky putt for par to end the day. He punches the air in celebration.

Rose began the third round at five under, but under the circumstances he will be extremely happy to finish the day in touch with the leaders.

A gritty round for the Englishman.

    Brown -5, Lowry -2 (17)

The crowd have cleared a passageway for Shane Lowry to take aim at the green and he wallops it.

He hasn't been able to cut it back though and it lands in the grandstand, fizzing along the pathway.

Sensible play from Dan Brown as he carefully chips his shot along the 18th fairway towards the green. Too late to risk doing anything more ambitious.

  9. Round of 69 for Horschelpublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -4 (69)

Billy Horschel opted to putt from off the green rather than chipping for a potential birdie, but comes up short.

The American misses a putt for par to bogey the last to get round in 69. Nevertheless an impressive round from Horschel who has firmly put himself in contention.

    Brown -5, Lowry -2 (17)

One final tee shot for Dan Brown in round three and if his heart is racing, he's showing no sign of it.

    Totally unflappable today.

In saying that, as he did at the first, he's found the very fringe of a greenside bunker.

It's hands on hips for Shane Lowry as he's carved it right and off towards the car park.

  11. 'Heck of a par for Lowry'published at 20:01 British Summer Time 20 July

    Lowry -2 (17)

    Andrew Murray
Former European Tour winner on Radio 5 Live

That’s a heck of a three (for Shane Lowry).

He was absolutely dead and buried in that bunker. Fabulous.

    Really pleased for him.

    Brown -5, Lowry -2 (17)

Why waste time reading the green eh, Dan?

The leader climbs out of the bunker, addresses his ball and thunders it at the hole. It's slightly long but he's probably OK with three feet for bogey.

And hello Shane Lowry, there's your putter. He's just drained from 20 feet to save par and there's a huge cheer from the gallery.

Some serious guts there from the Irishman.

    Brown -6, Lowry -2 (16)

We've done this movie before as Dan Brown and Shane Lowry weigh up near-identical bunker shots on a par three.

Back at eight, Lowry slumped to a double bogey and Brown also dropped a shot.

This time, Lowry's out but held by the wind and leaving a lengthy par putt.

Brown does brilliantly to get out but he will now face 50 feet for par.

Fine sportsmanship too from Lowry as he offers: "Good shot" to his playing partner.

    Horschel -5, Rose -3 (17)

Billy Horschel and Justin Rose tee off at the 18th with the wind blowing into their faces.

American Horschel has just about enough carry to get his on to the fairway, while Englishman Rose hits wide but has a reasonable lie.

  15. Even 71 for Schefflerpublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 20 July

    Scheffler -2 (71)

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

Scottie Scheffler leaves himself four feet for par on the final hole...but no danger this time as he rolls it in - and follows it quickly to get his ball and get out of there!

That's a level-par round of 71 for Scheffler that started well and should've been much better but for his putting, before he had to scramble and battle down the stretch when the weather turned nasty.

At two under he's right in the mix.

  16. Postpublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -6, Lowry -2 (16)

I bet these chaps cannot wait to get back in the clubhouse.

Dan Brown approaches his tee before retreating back under his caddie's umbrella.

Now he sizes up this 232-yard hunk of a par three and whips his shot into a greenside bunker.

Up steps Shane Lowry and finally the frustration boils over as his finds the sand too and he resorts to two giant air swipes with his club.

This is as tough as it gets.

  17. 'Rose can't be too disappointed'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 20 July

    Rose -3 (17)

    Graeme Storm
Two-time European Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Live

Justin Rose is still right in the hunt. He’s hung in really well.

He can’t be too disappointed - to only be two over for the day is relatively good in these hard, tough conditions.

But the thing he’ll take heart from is he’s only two or three behind and anything can happen going into tomorrow.

  18. Bogey for Rosepublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -5, Rose -3 (17)

Billy Horschel struck a flat chip towards the green at the 17th which dribbled agonising close to the hole. He putts for par.

Playing partner Justin Rose, meanwhile, found the bunker with this tee shot on the 17th, and overcooks the chip out the sand.

It left Rose with a tricky putt which he bogeys.

(I'm a northerner too - I'm allowed to say that).

  20. 'Brown is confounding everyone'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -6 (16)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

This young man from Yorkshire really is confounding everyone.

He marches off in the miserable rain with a skip in his heart.
