    McIlroy -10 (11)

Not quite lighting up this back nine Rory McIlroy.

With 10 feet left to the hole on the par three 11th the Northern Irishman would have fancied his chances.

But, much like the story of his PGA Championship it just doesn't drop and it is another par.

    Rose -13, MacIntyre -11 (5)

Robert MacIntyre lets out an expletive as he punches his second straight in the greenside bunker at the sixth. We have all been there Robert.

  4. Birdies apiece for DeChambeau and Hovlandpublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 19 May

    DeChambeau -15, Hovland -14 (5)

Lift-off for Viktor Hovland who finds his touch on the fifth green and sinks from 18 feet. First circle on the card.

He's followed into the hole by Bryson DeChambeau who gives his previous two shots the finish they deserved. One off the lead.

  5. Miss for Xanderpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 19 May

    Schauffele -16, Morikawa -15 (3)

That's a big miss by Xander Schauffele with six feet for birdie on the third - but he can't convert and that could be a crucial miss for momentum.

  6. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 19 May

    DeChambeau -14, Hovland -13 (4)

Sometimes it looks like Bryson DeChambeau's playing on a different golf course as another phenomenal drive eats up the fifth hole.

His second shot is a mere 100 yards and he takes advantage, dancing his ball to within six feet.

  7. Here comes Scottie...published at 20:21 British Summer Time 19 May

    Scheffler -11 (13)

    He couldn't, could he?

Scottie Scheffler is really starting to catch fire now.

He plays another beauty into the green of the thirteenth. Unlucky for some but not for Scottie as he knocks it in from six feet to make his third birdie in four holes on this back nine.

It would still need a few more birdies and the leaders to drop back for him to get a third tournament win in a row.

  8. Lowry chip sets up birdiepublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 19 May

    Theegala -14, Lowry -15 (4)

Oh my word. Shane Lowry almost chips in for eagle on the fourth and a share of the lead but his ball bumps the pin and stops dead an inch from the hole.

The 2019 Open champion is cooking at the moment.

Sahith Theegala's wedge in had looked the absolute business as well to eight feet, but he can't knock in the putt and trudges off with a par.

  9. Postpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 19 May

    Rose -13, MacIntyre -11 (5)

Conditions are good, players are going low, and pars, however solid they are, probably aren't going to help Justin Rose or Robert MacIntyre win the big prize today.

  10. Postpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 19 May

    McIlroy -10 (10)

Ah that will be frustrating for Rory McIlroy.

For somebody of his big hitting prowess, not picking up a birdie on a par five will almost feel like a dropped shot.

Trips to the fairway bunker and the rough stifle his chance of picking up a fourth shot in four holes.

With eight holes left to play he is going to need something pretty spectacular to be in contention come the end of day.

  11. Noren continues his climbpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 19 May

    Noren -12 (16)

He's too far back surely but Alex Noren drops in a long right-to-left putt from the back of the 16th hole to make his sixth birdie of the day.

Great round this from the Swede, who but for three bogeys down the stretch on day two, could have been right in the mix here. As it is he's up 21 places at present in a tie for eighth.

  12. Steady pars for Hovland and DeChambeaupublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 19 May

    DeChambeau -14, Hovland -13 (4)

Delicious chip from Viktor Hovland as it takes a skip onto the green and comes to a six feet out.

He's wayward with the putter though and stays three back.

Harder approach for Bryson DeChambeau with his ball embedded in the rough. He chunks it out to still set up 22 feet for birdie but he can't convert.

  13. Lowry back within two of leadpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 19 May

    Theegala -14, Lowry -14 (3)

Massively conservative from Sahith Theegala, who finds the left edge of the green on the par-three fourth.

All the trouble is off to the right but crikey he may as well be in a different State putting from there. Has he had a putt from inside 50 feet yet?

Shane Lowry, shows him how it should be done, nailing his approach to eight feet and brilliantly sinking the putt.

  14. Postpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 19 May

    Schauffele -16, Morikawa -15 (2)

We talked about Xander Schauffele's approach before he teed off, and he's certainly looking aggressive to me - firing right at the pin on the dangerous third despite the water over there.

And he's stuck it to about five feet. Stunning

  15. Two parspublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 19 May

    Schauffele -16, Morikawa -15 (2)

Beautiful splash out of the bunker from Xander Schauffele for the sand save and par four.

Collin Morikawa was left with 81 yards after having to just hack out of the rough, but he stuck his wedge shot stone dead so can tap in for par.

  16. More birdie joy for Scottiepublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 19 May

    Scheffler -10 (12)

Scottie Scheffler joins Rory McIlroy in the group sitting at 10 under.

It is fairway. Green. Birdie putt once again for the world number one.

He takes his chance from 15 feet on the par four 12th and gets himself to double figures under par for the tournament.

The problem for him and the chasing pack though is the leaders are also picking up early shots.

  17. Birdie for Rosepublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 19 May

    Rose -13, MacIntyre -11 (4)

Nice from Justin Rose and Bob MacIntyre who both go right to open up the fourth green and then clip wedges in to leave birdie opportunities from 12 feet.

The Englishman is up first a rattles the back of the cup with his ball. Now can MacIntyre follow suit? Nope, his ball veers left at the last moment.

  18. Pars for Hovland and DeChambeaupublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 19 May

    DeChambeau -14, Hovland -13 (3)

Bryson DeChambeau contemplates 20 feet for another birdie on the par-three third.

He gives his ball a tickle towards the hole but it's too soft and holds up short.

Meanwhile, playing partner Viktor Hovland sends a terrific effort from distance on its way but it hangs right and there'll be no change to his score once again.

  19. Postpublished at 20:00 British Summer Time 19 May

    Schauffele -16, Morikawa -15 (1)

Xander Schauffele is not a million miles away from the hazard off the second tee, and his shot out of the rough is a flier that whizzes through the green and into the sand, leaving him a touch short sided as well so his third shot will be interesting.

  20. Postpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time 19 May

    Thomas -11, Finau -10 (5)

Tony Finau grabbed a shot right back after his earlier bogey, but nothing more for Justin Thomas after his hole out from the bunker on two.

They're both still there or thereabouts, but they'll need to step on the gas sooner rather than later.
