    Takeda -7, Yamashita -10 (14)

The wind is blowing a bit at Royal Porthcawl but Miyu Yamashita and Rio Takeda hit fantastic approach shots from the tee into the par-three 15th.

Both will get an immediate chance to atone for those bogeys on the previous hole.

Warm applause for Rio Takeda and then Miyu Yamashita as they each escape with bogey on 14.

There is a sense of relief for both players, for it could have been worse.

  3. Bogeys for Takeda & Yamashitapublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 2 August

    Takeda -7, Yamashita -10 (14)

Miyu Yamashita and Rio Takeda are both having problems down the 14th.

The leader is playing her third from a ditch, taking a baseball/rounders style stance to knock a bump and run into the dance floor.

She'll have a long par putt but her ball does not have enough gas and halts a couple of feet from the pin.

Takeda also comes up short with her third and then when putting for par. Bogey, bogey. Ouch.

  4. Woad finishes with a birdiepublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 2 August

Lottie Woad ends her round on a high as she plops in her second birdie of the day to shoot 71.

It's been a story of 'what ifs' for the 21-year-old. Had she been able to convert some of her pars into birdies she would have been much higher up the leaderboard.

Playing partner Megan Khang is in with a chance, though, as she cancels out a bogey at the 17th with a birdie at the 18th.

  5. Korda ends disappointing third roundpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 2 August

Nelly Korda signs for a disappointing two-over 74 with a par on the 18th. The world number one and two-time major winner would have wanted to use "moving day" to charge into contention.

Instead she has slipped out of it into a tie for 36th, with too many missed birdie putts proving costly.

The 14th, 15th and 16th holes are a tough stretch into the wind, which will test the final group.

They haven’t made the best of starts, with both players carving their tee shots right on 14.

  7. Birdie for Takedapublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 2 August

    Takeda -8, Yamashita -11 (13)

Miyu Yamashita makes a gritty par on the 13th after shooting through the green with her third. She'll take that as Rio Takeda knocks in a birdie putt to move a shot closer, into a share for second.

Both players are level par for their rounds today.

  8. Lee shoots 67published at 17:30 British Summer Time 2 August

    A Lee -8, Y Liu -2 (F)

Andrea Lee lost a bit of momentum in the back nine after seven birdies in nine holes earlier in her round.

She generates a little bit too much power for a birdie putt on the 18th but tucks away a knee-knocker in blustery conditions to bank a par.

The American's third round of 67 leaves her eight under and she will be among the pack chasing Miyu Yamashita in the final round tomorrow.

  9. Major champions in 2025published at 17:30 British Summer Time 2 August

Maja Stark (pictured) is the only one of this year's four major champions who failed to make through to the weekend.

Mao Saigo is the best-placed of the trio remaining, on three under par, so it's almost certain there will be a different name to complete the list of 2025's major winners.

I have just bumped into Royal Porthcawl member and former men’s European Tour player Rhys Davies by the side of the 18th green.

He knows this place as well as anyone - and reckons 10 under par may well be the winning mark come tomorrow evening.

But, he adds, you can drop that down by a couple of shots if the weather takes a turn for the worse, as the forecast suggests it will.

  11. Yamashita makes back-to-back birdiespublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 2 August

    Takeda -7, Yamashita -11 (12)

Beautiful tee shot from Miyu Yamashita, which is rewarded with a tap-in birdie on the par-three 12th.

Back-to-back birdies and her lead is back up to three strokes.

Her playing partner also makes a two on a very productive hole for the Japanese duo.

I’ve just arrived at the 16th green as Lottie Woad makes another clutch par putt, on a hole where she made a round-altering triple bogey yesterday.

There’s a booming noise and a “Go on Lottie!” from her supporters.

  13. Woad saves parpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 2 August

    Woad -2, Khang -6 (16)

A ripple of applause for Lottie Woad as she saves par on the 16th with a tricky putt. Megan Khang also settles for par and looks like she could be one of those capable of challenging in the final round tomorrow.

  14. Korda's struggles continuepublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 2 August

    Korda E (16)

Nelly Korda cannot have envisaged this.

She drops another shot on the 16th and is now two shots worse off than when she got under way and is slowly fading out of contention.

  15. Rhodes shoots 70published at 17:10 British Summer Time 2 August

    Rhodes -3 (70)

It’s a frustrating finish for Mimi Rhodes, as a five-foot birdie putt slips past the hole on 18.

That would have been a nice way to end after bogeys on 16 and 17, but the 23-year-old Englishwoman will surely be fairly pleased with a round of 70.

She will go into Sunday at three under - seven shots off the lead as it stands.

  16. Yamashita bounces back as Takeda drops a shotpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 2 August

Great shot. Miyu Yamashita is in the right rough on the 11th but clips into around six feet on the narrow putting surface. Can she knock in her first birdie of the day? Course she can.

Meanwhile, Rio Takeda's ball lands a yard off leaving her a close-range birdie chance.

Instead though, it catches the right of the green and funnels off down the slope towards the rough.

This is tricky... but she throws her ball up into the air and almost clips it in. The 22-year-old is putting from four feet for par but misses left. Remarkable.

Gasps from the crowd as Andrea Lee goes close with birdie putt at the 17th but it just fizzes past the hole. Lee comes back and slots in a three-foot putt for par.

Lee strides purposefully to the 18th hoping to finish strongly.

It was always going to be difficult to make par on the 15th for Wales’ remaining hope Darcey Harry.

Her chip clears the bunker but races 20 feet or more past the pin.

She two-putts from there and is now back at one over.

The six kite surfers I can see in Rest Bay are making the most of the windy conditions that are testing a few of the later starters today.

With the wind set to pick up further tomorrow afternoon, it could make for an interesting finish.

    AL Kim -8 (13)

Miyu Yamashita's lead is down to one shot as A Lim Kim birdies the par-five 13th.

It was very nearly an eagle but her putt for a three just drifted past the cup.
