A fine round from Tommy Fleetwood has just closed in slightly disappointing fashion with a bogey at the 18th.

Even so, he's carded -3 today and bumped up to two under for the tournament.

Alongside him, Wyndham Clark has also impressed with a four-under 68 and he's at level par.

As for Jon Rahm? A gutsy par putt right there could be what keeps him at Augusta this weekend. It keeps him at two over for the week - and that is right on the cutline.

  2. Birdie for Hatton at sevenpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 11 April

    Spieth E, Hatton -4, T Kim +1 (7)

    Here comes Tyrrell Hatton.

The Englishman has dug out a second birdie of the round at seven and nudged back up to seven under par.

He's keeping himself firmly in contention.

  3. Scheffler makes amendspublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -6, Thomas E (8)

Classy and inventive from JT on the eighth as he purposely clips his third into a banking to the left of the green and uses the slope to send his ball snaking down towards the cup.

He'll have a slippy putt from seven feet or so for birdie, but he whiffs on it and misses.

Scottie Scheffler makes his birdie putt from similar range albeit over to the left.

This fella isn't going anyway and rejoins Rory McIlroy on six under.

Wind is noticeably picking up here at Augusta, which could prove tricky for the afternoon players.

  5. DeChambeau in solo secondpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7 (68)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

There's another Bryson DeChambeau fist pump as he knocks in for his par at 18 and that's also a round of 68 for the US Open champion who enters the clubhouse in second place and just a shot behind Justin Rose.

The American bounds up the hill behind the 18th green with plenty of adulation from the patrons as he is right up there with the big crowd favourites in men's professional golf these days.

  6. Lowry signs for a 68published at 20:32 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lowry -5 (68)

Shane Lowry is agonisingly short with his birdie putt on 18, with the ball just a couple of rolls from dropping into the cup - but that's a fine 68 for the Irishman to leave him on five under and right in the thick of the action.

  7. Postpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -5, Matsuyama -3 (14)

Bryson DeChambeau is on the 18th fairway and looking to give himself a chance to tie the lead, but his approach is a bit conservative and after landing short of the flag spins back down a ledge to leave a lengthy effort coming up.

  8. Postpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -6 (66)

Yesterday, Rory McIlroy strode straight past the media to go to the practice ground having made two double bogeys in his final four holes.

It must be a totally different feeling today after a remarkable second half of his round.

He looked potentially out of it at seven back overnight.

Now he's only two behind leader Justin Rose.

  9. Bogey for Schefflerpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -5, Thomas E (7)

First dropped shot of the tournament for Scottie Scheffler.

He can't reach the green in two and his chip over the front bunker leaves a tricky downhill putt to negotiate, which rolls right around the cup but won't drop.

The American briefly shows a flicker of displeasure. Not sure he can believe that didn't disappear.

  10. McIlroy closes with a parpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -6, Aberg -3 (73), Bhatia +2 (76)

Never fear, that's not how Rory McIlroy's second nine has gone today.

What a great putt to wrap up an outstanding round of six under par.

  11. Postpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -6, Aberg -4, Bhatia +1 (17)

For the first time on this second nine, Rory McIlroy is nervy with the putter and leaves it five feet short.

A bogey would be an infuriating way to close out if he can't hole this.

  12. Bogey finish for Hovlandpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 11 April

    Hovland -4 (69)

Disappointing end to the round for Viktor Hovland as he closes with two bogeys to fall back to four under, but that 69 is still a great round.

He never looked confident over his par save on 18 and you do wonder if all his self analysis and the downplaying he's done over his game just leaves him vulnerable to things like that - after all he's played beautifully today but just needed a bit more positivity to finish the round off.

He's right there though, so surely he needs to come out tomorrow in a positive frame of mind. He's some player when he does.

  13. Postpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -6, Thomas E (6)

Scottie Scheffler gets a bit of luck on the seventh. He hits a terrible tee shot well right but it rebounds around in the trees and tumbles out into the first cut.

Justin Thomas, who is ranked eighth in the world, clings on to the right side of the fairway and launches his wedge shot onto the putting surface but it'll be a long birdie putt from there.

  14. Postpublished at 20:14 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -6, Aberg -4, Bhatia +1 (17)

One last approach for Rory McIlroy and he'll be coming from the first cut down the right of the 18th.

Off it flights and clings on to the back of the putting surface.

It's some distance from the flag but getting home safely is surely the aim here.

  15. Bryson's birdie responsepublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -5, Matsuyama -3 (17)

Bryson DeChambeau responds to that bogey with a birdie on 17 - like we'd expect anything less from him! There's a fist pump and a pose from the US Open champion who knows if he gets in the clubhouse at seven under at least he'll be in great shape.

  16. Dunlap bouncing backpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 11 April

    Dunlap +15 (8)

    Credit where credit's due.

Nick Dunlap shot +18 yesterday but is three under par through eight holes today.

    Terrific comeback!

  17. Morikawa scrappingpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 11 April

    Morikawa -1, Niemann -1, Lee E (7)

Collin Morikawa is battling his way back into red figures after a scratchy start - it was the opposite yesterday as he was three under until a late collapse, but today after an early bogey he's now carded back-to-back birdies to go to one under.

  18. Bogey for Brysonpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -6, Lowry -5, Matsuyama -3 (16)

Ouch! That one will hurt for Bryson DeChambeau as it's a three-putt bogey from 40 feet on the 16th green that sees him drop a shot for the first time today.

  19. Birdie for Schefflerpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -6, Thomas E, Ballester +6 (6)

As expected Scottie Scheffler collects a birdie on the sixth.

It's as you were for JT though, despite landing 14 feet from the pin.

  20. Postpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -6, Aberg -4, Bhatia +1 (17)

Whoa the wind is swirling round the trees that dwarf the 18th tee box.

They were forecast to get stronger this afternoon so pity the later starters.

Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose may well be thankful to be safely in the clubhouse.
