    Scheffler -4, Thomas E (11)

Wow. Scottie Scheffler gets away with one on the 12th, completely flying the green and landing in the bushes at the back.

But like Rory McIlroy on Thursday, he sees his ball scoot out of the foliage and back into a position where he is very much in play.

  2. Conners in contentionpublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 11 April

    Conners -6 (14)

    Corey ConnersImage source, Getty Images

A ship steadying par on the 14th for Corey Conners, who may not be a household name but has some decent form around Augusta National - with three top-10 finishes in seven appearances.

He's also one of the best iron players on the PGA Tour so that's a natural fit for doing well around here.

  3. Scheffler & Thomas drop shotspublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -4, Thomas E (11)

Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas are both having problems down the 11th.

JT, as expected, didn't have a shot into the dance floor after his wayward drive and the defending champion ended up well right with his second and looks like he'll be putting for par from 22 feet.

Both are going to drop shots here. And do.

All that after Scottie took an eternity to play off the tee.

  4. Day looking goodpublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 11 April

    Day -5 (12)

    Jason DayImage source, Getty Images

Australian Jason Day is also in the thick of things at five under with three birdies today and not one bogey on his card.

Day finished runner-up in his Masters debut back in 2011 but has had some issues over the last couple of years - he's looking back near his best this week though.

  5. Postpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7 (68)

Remember when Bryson DeChambeau was persona non grata in the golfing world?

    Now he's well loved.

Just check out the reaction of this kid after getting Bryson's signature.

  6. Par for Langerpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 11 April

    Langer +2 (16)

Get in.... Ohhhhh. Bernhard Langer's birdie putt trickles left of the hole. Just a par for the German. One hole down, two to go. .

  7. Langer battling to make cutpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 11 April

    Langer +2 (15)

Bernhard Langer is known for being able to grind things out and he'll have to use all his fighting qualities on the final three holes after getting his feet wet on the 15th and carding a double.

He needs to play the 16th, 17th and 18th in level par or better to extend his final Masters appearance into the weekend.

He begins that stretch with a great approach into the par three to give himself a look at a birdie.

Masters 2025: Rory McIlroy speaks to BBC Sport NI after his second round at the Masters

Rory McIlroy has been speaking with BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson after his six-under-par 66 in round two.

"I'm really proud of how I bounced back after last night. But I had to keep reminding myself that i played really well yesterday and I wasn't going to let two bad holes dictate the rest of the tournament for me.

"I had a chat with (sports pyschologist) Bob Rotella this morning and we talked about patience, letting the score come to you. I've done too many times round here where I've tried to chase too early and shot myself in the foot so it was a really good display of discipline and patience and I feel like that was rewarded.

"I rode my luck a little bit on the back nine with that shot on 13 but sometimes you need a bit of luck to get yourself in position at these tournaments.

"It was a great day, I did a lot of things well and I'm going to have to continue to do the same things over the next two days.

"I'm excited for the opportunity. I feel like I'm as equipped as ever to handle whatever comes my way."

  9. Hovland only six out of 10 todaypublished at 21:34 British Summer Time 11 April

    Hovland -4 (69)

Viktor Hovland was asked how his gollf swing felt out of 10 today: "I would say maybe a six. Six and a half.

Compared to what it was previously: "It was nonfunctional so it was a one."

But what about when he won the Valspar Championship last month: "Four, maybe."

And so with all these problems he is having, will he be able to win the Masters on Sunday? "Probably not."

Hovland did add though that contending at Augusta despite all the swing changes he is trying to do gave him confidence - and in this game you never know.

"Sometimes you get a nice week and you can time it up nicely and you make a few putts, short side yourself, and instead of making bogey or double, you chip in and make a birdie. I mean, this game is silly."

  10. Hatton has to settle for parpublished at 21:33 British Summer Time 11 April

    Spieth E Hatton -6, T Kim +1 (10)

So close to four in a row for the rampaging Tyrrell Hatton at the 10th but it's come up eight inches from the cup.

He has to be satisfied with par.

An ugly birdie for Jordan Spieth moves him out of the red and back to level par where he started his round.

  11. Who won't make the cut?published at 21:31 British Summer Time 11 April

    Dustin JohnsonImage source, Getty Images

With the cut line likely to be at +2, that means as ever we'll be saying farewell to a host of famous faces.

It’s bye to former winners Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia.

Another LIV golfer and multiple major champion Brooks Koepka is also heading home after a nightmare quadruple bogey at the 18th put him at five over.

Similarly, the round of 2022 Open winner Cameron Smith has unravelled since the turn and he'll need at least one birdie in his final few holes to make the weekend.

Meanwhile, Team Europe Ryder Cup player Sepp Straka and America's Russell Henley came in with wins on the PGA Tour this season – but will leave empty-handed.

  12. Postpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -5, Thomas -1 (10)

When Justin Thomas isn't happy with something, he certainly lets all and sundry know.

The two-time major winner swishes his tee shot right on the 11th and finds a bed of pine needles. Will he even have an angle to get down to the green from there?

  13. Bogey for Schefflerpublished at 21:23 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -5, Thomas -1 (10)

A collector's item. Scottie Scheffler can't get down in two.

He tentatively pushes his first putt and then slides his second right from five feet, meaning he'll drop a shot.

  14. Up and down round for Connerspublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 11 April

    Conners -6 (13)

Corey Conners is on a bit of a rollercoaster out there now, with a birdie on 13 meaning he's now gone bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie over his last four holes.

So basically it's been a lot of huffing and puffing to end up right back where he started four holes ago on six under - meaning the Canadian is still bang in business.

  15. Postpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -6, Thomas -1 (9)

Scottie Scheffler has an iron in from 193 yards at the 10th, which he starts well left.

But if that is meant to turn in, it hasn't and he'll face a treacherous putt from around 50 feet across an undulating green.

JT, who must be a good 40 yards on down the fairway, shouts "get up" as his ball holds up in the wind and comes up short of the dance floor.

Justin Rose got up and down from an identical spot earlier.

  16. Three in a row for Hattonpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 11 April

    Spieth -1, Hatton -6, T Kim +1 (9)

    Three-rell Hatton!

A tasty run of birdies from Tyrrell at seven, eight and nine has launched him up alongside Rory McIlroy in joint third.

A well-judged iron shot at the ninth deserves to be slotted - and Hatton does the business.

  17. Collin creeping uppublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 11 April

    Morikawa -2, Niemann -1, Lee E (7)

Collin Morikawa gets himself another birdie on the ninth and slowly but surely he's climbing up the leaderboard towards contention.

Joaquin Niemann is going in the other direction though sadly after he has just boeyed the 10th.

  18. Hatton on the movepublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 11 April

    Spieth -1, Hatton -5, T Kim +1 (8)

Tyrrell Hatton shares a joke with caddie Hugo DobsonImage source, Getty Images

More forward momentum from Tyrrell Hatton who has cashed in at the par-five eighth to move three shots off the lead.

Playing partner Jordan Spieth has also bagged a birdie to move into the red for the first time since some dramatic double bogeys yesterday afternoon.

  19. Postpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -6, Thomas -1 (9)

Almost an eagle for Scottie Scheffler on the ninth as he lands his approach just past the pin and spins it back towards the flag.

His ball works back and halts around 12 feet from the hole, big birdie chance which he undercooks, with his ball turning left to right at the last minute.

No issues for JT. A sensational wedge shot leaves an inviting birdie chance which he snaps up from two feet.

  20. Langer on course to make cut?published at 20:54 British Summer Time 11 April

    Langer E (13)

    Bernhard LangerImage source, Getty Images

As it stands the 1985 and 1993 champion Bernhard Langer is in a decent position to make the cut on his final Masters appearance.

The 67-year-old German is two under for the day and level par through 13 holes.
