  1. See you Saturdaypublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 19 July

Right, as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy get their private jets back to Florida, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose will be gearing up for what they hope will be a defining Saturday in their bid to win the Claret Jug.

Let's not rule out Daniel Brown though who has shown no signs of nerves in his Open debut, while Scottie Scheffler is lurking dangerously with fellow American big guns Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay right there with him.

And with more tricky wind to cope with, Saturday should be a real stunner and moving day could be very apt - both up and down the leaderboard.

So make sure you join us tomorrow from 14:00 BST for the third round of the 152nd Open Championship.

  3. 'The wind got the better of me'published at 21:04 British Summer Time 19 July

    McIlroy +11 (75)

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

Rory McIlroy reflects on missing the cut:

"Obviously got off to the worst start possible today, being six over through six. If I need to remember something about this week, it'll be the last few holes that I played.

"When I look back on the two majors that I didn't play my best at, here and the Masters, the wind got the better of me on Friday at Augusta, and then the wind got the better of me the last two days here.

"I didn't adapt well at all to that left-to-right wind yesterday on the back nine, and then this afternoon going out in that gusty wind on the front, as I said, it got the better of me, and I felt pretty uncomfortable over a few shots. Yeah, that four-hole stretch to start off is what cost me."

  4. 'That was carnage'published at 20:59 British Summer Time 19 July

    MacIntyre +5 (75)

Robert MacIntyre describes his emotions after two triple bogeys in his first four holes:

"That was carnage. When I made that eight on four, my head was completely gone. Then you're standing on five going between a eight iron and a rescue, and you're honestly trying to make bogeys instead of doubles and triples that I was making.

" I didn't think I was going to make the weekend, but Mike said, Look, fans are here to watch. Just give them what they want, a severe dig and fight, and that's what I done. I just tried my best and managed to turn it around."

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

The Scotsman was proud of his comeback and thanked the fans for helping him make the cut:

"To be honest, anything's possible in links golf, especially with the weather. I think it's going to be raining tomorrow. Look, I'm just proud of the way I fought, kind of making this cut, especially after last week.

"The support I had out there was unbelievable. With that start, I felt like I was letting everyone down, not just myself, but my team and the fans. But it was just about fighting, and they helped me a long way."

  5. Late pair chasing the cutpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morrison +6, Migliozzi +6 (17)

Both amateur Tommy Morrison and Italian Guido Migliozzi are bang on the cut number as they head off down 18, but if they both make birdie then they could dumped out all of those on six over - including Max Homa, Rickie Fowler and Matt Fitzpatrick.

So as the gloom descends and the stands empty there's still some late drama to be played out around Royal Troon.

  6. 'No lead is safe'published at 20:41 British Summer Time 19 July

    Rahm +1 (70)

    Jon RahmImage source, Getty Images

Jon Rahm is happy to be involved at the sharp end of a major again after a bad run this year:

"It's nice to be up there. I think top 15 going into the weekend, eight shots back, and with the weather conditions that we're having, if the wind stays up like this, anything can happen.

What score does he need to shoot on Saturday?

"I can't tell you because the golf course is firming up, so if we get two more days of wind, you never know. No lead is safe. I still think obviously you need to get to double digits. In my case I'll get as low as I can. But we'll see.

"If you have to make up shots, you almost want difficult weather where if you can post a one, two, three maybe three under par round, you can make up more shots than in a regular event."

  7. Misery for McIlroypublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 19 July

    Macilroy +11 (75)

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

I'm not sure many expected Rory McIlroy to go and win the Open after suffering through that US Open heartbreak, but we did not see this performance coming.

He's never been in it and his 75 today was largely the round of a beaten man right from the start.

His wait for a fifth major will stretch into an 11th year, and it won't be long before the talk turns to his pursuit of the Green Jacket at the Masters next April....

  8. Homa makes the cut!published at 20:24 British Summer Time 19 July

    McIlroy +11, Hatton +8, Homa +6 (F)

Tyrrell Hatton's 50-footer never really has a chance and he trudges after the ball angrily - a state he's been in for most of the back nine actually.

But Max Homa, still from about 30 feet manages to get his ball to drop and he lets out a scream usually seen on the Sunday as he celebrates just being around for the weekend.

    Only in the majors...

  9. Postpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 19 July

    McIlroy +11, Hatton +7, Homa +7 (17)

Tyrrell Hatton and Max Homa will both have really long putts to try and make the cut on the last hole.

Ironically enough Tory McIlroy plays the best approach shot of the three so has the best chance of a closing birdie.

  11. Defending champion Harman makes the cutpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 19 July

    Harman +4 (73)

Brian Harman takes the acclaim of the galleries on the 18th and lines up a five-footer for birdie on the last - which he makes.

Another round of 73 and the champion of 12 months ago will be back for the weekend.

Playing partners Viktor Hovland and Sahith Theegala will be planning their journeys home this evening.

  12. Bryson bows outpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 19 July

    DeChambeau +9 (75)

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

Bryson DeChambeau has been THE man in the majors this year having finished T6 at the Masters, second at the US PGA and then of course winning the US Open.

Links golf is almost a different ball game though and watching him struggle to figure out Royal Troon summed that up perfectly.

The game is more than good enough, but it's the game plan that you really need to get right out on the links.

  13. Postpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 19 July

    Hatton +7, Homa +7 (17)

Pars on 17, so the equation is simple for Max Homa and Tyrrell Hatton - birdie the last and they should be around for the weekend.

  14. Postpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 19 July

    Homa +7, Hatton +7 (16)

Max Homa and Tyrrell Hatton will struggle to make their two on 17 - they're both at the back of the green, about 50 feet from the pin.

Here's Ken Brown's view on the penultimate hole at Royal Troon...

  15. Postpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 19 July

    Harman +5 (17)

Brian Harman can afford a bogey on the final hole and should still make the cut.

  16. Postpublished at 20:00 British Summer Time 19 July

    Aberg +8, DeChambeau +9, Kim +11 (17)

That bogey on 17 was the end of the line for Bryson DeChambeau, but that has not stopped him from attacking the 18th with his regular gusto.

He's hammered a drive just short of the green and pitched up to 10 feet, so he could at least sign off with a birdie to finish.

  17. Postpublished at 20:00 British Summer Time 19 July

    Hatton +7, Homa +7 (16)

A birdie for Max Homa and a bogey for Tyrrell Hatton on 16 - they're both in need of a closing birdie on either of the last two holes to make the cut.

  18. Much more like it from Rahmpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 19 July

    Rahm +1 (70)

Jon Rahm missed a short putt for birdie on 18 but that was a lot more like him today, especially his back nine as the chip-in on the ninth looked to ignite that Spanish spark.

Even his bogey on 16 wasn't really through playing badly, and he was aggressive and skilful coming down the stretch - with two 400-yard drives thrown in for good measure!

He's eight shots off the lead but after that back nine today don't be surprised if he goes low tomorrow..

  19. MacIntyre makes the cut!published at 19:51 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +9, MacIntyre +5, Rahm +1 (F)

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

Robert MacIntyre finds the green nicely from the right rough on 18, and he gets a huge reception from the Scottish fans in the grandstand after what has been a remarkable fightback.

He can't quite make the birdie, but the par is good enough to see him make the cut and when he taps it in the roar is as big as if he'd just won the thing!

After that horror start when he played the first four holes in eight over, he played the next 14 in four under - that's some resilience.

  20. Watch: Scheffler in contentionpublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -2 (70)

World number one Scottie Scheffler is an ominous figure lurking just below the leaders after two rounds.

The two-time Masters champion has carded two consecutive rounds of 70 and will start tomorrow's third round five off the lead.
