    Harman +5, Hovland +9 (16)

Brian Harman escapes from the sand to secure a par on the par-five 16th.

Viktor Hovland's Open will end in a couple of holes' time, though. He found the burn with his tee shot and his bogey puts him back to nine over.

  2. Another 400 yarder!published at 19:46 British Summer Time 19 July

Jon Rahm has unleashed the fury again with that driver of his, as he hammers his golf ball once again for another mighty drive that rolls into the front bunker guarding the 18th green.

It's measured at 404 yards, his second 400-yard drive of the day as well! And it would've gone even further had the sand trap not been there. Incredible.

    McIlroy +12 (15)

That drive from Rory was actually 383 yards.

  4. Postpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 19 July

    McIlroy +12 (15)

Rory McIlroy gives his drive the beans on 16. Clears the burn by miles.

The Open's shot tracker has it travelling more than 400 yards.

A bit of wind assistance and no shortage of frustration in that tee shot from the Northern Irishman, whose most recent major win was sealed 10 years ago tomorrow.

The wait for another will go on.

  5. Big miss by Brysonpublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 19 July

    Aberg +8, DeChambeau +8, Kim +11 (15)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

Bryson DeChambeau fails to make that birdie putt on 16 and so as he stays on eight over he now needs to finish birdie-birdie to make the six-under cut line.

Unlikely, but this is Bryson DeChambeau we're talking about here.

Ludvig Aberg has quietly picked up his second birdie in four holes so he also needs a birdie-birdie finish to make the cut.

  6. Postpublished at 19:34 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +8, MacIntyre +5, Rahm +1 (16)

Robert MacIntyre leaves himself a testing chip from the rough off the back of the 17th green, but his confidence is high right now and he almost goes and holes it!

Leaving just three feet that should be a par that almost guarantees he'll make the cut.

  7. Postpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 19 July

    Hatton +6, Homa +8 (15)

Needing to probably pick up two shots to make the cut, Max Homa really needed that birdie try on 15 to drop. It's just wide from 18 feet, though.

Tyrrell Hatton saves par to stay on six over and just on the right side of the line.

  8. Postpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 19 July

    Aberg +9, DeChambeau +8, Kim +10 (15)

Bryson DeChambeau has 215 yards to the 16th green and is on the right side to attack, but he's pulled his iron shot and it sails left and misses the green.

Having to chip over the bunkers, he makes a decent effort but now has an eight-foot birdie putt that he simply has to make.

  9. Birdie means breathing room for Bobpublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +8, MacIntyre +5, Rahm +1 (16)

Robert MacIntyre fires his second onto the green so he has a 40-foot look for eagle, and although it doesn't drop the simple birdie moves him to five over and a shot inside the current cut line of six over.

There's more than a hint of relief as much as anything else, but he's still got two holes to navigate before planning for the weekend.

Jon Rahm has a disappointing bogey despite playing that hole pretty well - just hitting his tee shot too well if anything with that driving iron and finding the burn.

  10. Postpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 19 July

    Harman +5 (15)

A putt from 25 feet for birdie doesn't quite have the legs, but Brian Harman can walk away from the par-four 15th with a par.

The defending champion is moving a little closer to booking in for the weekend.

  11. Bombs away from Brysonpublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 19 July

    Aberg +9, DeChambeau +8, Kim +10 (15)

    Th OpenImage source, Getty Images

Bryson DeChambeau made eagle on 16 yesterday and he's going after it again as he unleashes a maximum effort driver off the tee, which sails 346 yards down the left and drops with such velocity that it bounces out of some rough and rolls just onto the fairway, giving him a great look at the green again.

He needs to pick up two shots to make the current cut, he'll try and get them both here.

Coming up 18, there was respectful applause for Tiger Woods and there was a different feel to it.

Slightly low-key. Sympathetic. There was a cry of, ‘Thanks for coming, Tiger’ which was well-meaning, but sounded a little cringe-making.

Everybody, you sensed, was sad to see this version of him, but there’s no other version these days, alas. For the unsurpassable genius of yesteryear, this is as good as it gets now.

Read the thoughts of BBC Scotland's chief sports writer Tom English on another chastening day for a legend of the sport.

  13. McIlroy magic!published at 19:16 British Summer Time 19 July

    McIlroy +12 (14)

At last - something to smile about for Rory McIlroy and his supporters!

He finds the bunker with his tee shot on 14, but he splashes out brilliantly, a little bit of check spin and into the cup it drops.

Meanwhile, Tyrrell Hatton stops the run of dropped shots with a two-putt par and stays six over.

  14. Postpublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +9, MacIntyre +6, Rahm E (15)

Jon Rahm's momentum could be halted on 16 after he found the burn off the tee, hitting a long iron for safety but it's taken a hard bounce and rumbled on down there into the hazard.

Bob MacIntyre isn't sitting back now he's right on the cut line after it shifted to six over, as he pulls out the big dog and lashes his ball up and over the burn and well placed to have a good go at the green.

  15. 'Hatton's head has gone here'published at 19:09 British Summer Time 19 July

    Hatton +6 (13)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

Another shot has gone for Tyrrell Hatton and his head has gone here.

He has gone to six over par and is rocketing his way out of the championship.

  16. Postpublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 19 July

    Harman +5 (14)

Brian Harman gives that birdie on 13 straight back, failing to get up and down in two from the bunker.

His putt from long range was bang on line but just need a couple of extra rolls on it.

  17. Postpublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 19 July

    Aberg +9, DeChambeau +8, Kim +10 (14)

Lovely approach from Bryson DeChambeau to the 15th green, which he plays in a much more controlled fashion, landing it short and letting it run on up the green pin high - about 15 feet across for birdie.

That's a proper links shot and much more suitable for conditions.

  19. Nervous times for Tyrrellpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 19 July

    Hatton +6 (13)

Tyrrell Hatton was looking in decent shape at two over after birdies at the seventh and eighth holes.

However, since parring the 10th, he's gone bogey, double-bogey, bogey and is now six over - just safe above the cut line, but only just.

  20. Cheers for a Bob birdiepublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +9, MacIntyre +6, Rahm E (15)

Plenty of home fans still at Royal Troon following Robert MacIntyre to cheer him on to making the cut - and he's moved a step closer after rolling an 11-foot birdie on 15 which, as it stands, would see him in at the weekend.
