    Rahm -1 (5)

Another look at a birdie from long range for Jon Rahm on the par-three fifth, again it sneaks by the cup, but it's been a very good start from the two-time major winner.

Well, he's never even played at a major before, Catriona!

Setting his expectations rather high for the future.

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup

I think Dan Brown will pumped to be playing with Scottie Scheffler.

I mean how often do you get to play with the world number one and go out in the last round of a major with a chance to win it?

    Brown -3 (13:55 BST)

If Daniel Brown comes out on top today, he would become just the second Englishman to win on his major debut.

The first? Horace Rawlins back in 1895.

English winners have been scarce - the most recent was Sir Nick Faldo way back in 1992.

Brown has shown some serious guts already this week. Playing with the world number one Scottie Scheffler is yet another milestone for him to tick off.

    MacIntyre +10 (17)

Scotland's finest Bob MacIntyre hasn't been short of support during his four days at Royal Troon - there's even been a special message for him left on the beach just across from the first tee.

He's coming down the 18th now.

  7. Horror start for JTpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 21 July

    Jordan E, Thomas E

Justin Thomas strides onto the first tee, looking dapper in a soft pink jumper, picks his spot and, bang, huge block out to the right and his ball sails out of bounds - almost onto the beach!

So JT suffers the embarrassment of having to go back to his bag and pull out another golf ball. The reload is better, it's on the course at least, but in the bunker....

  8. The battle for the Silver Medalpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 21 July

    Scott +4 (6)

Four amateurs made the cut at Royal Troon and Scotland's Calum Scott is best placed to claim the Silver Medal at the tournament's low amateur.

He started his final round on +3, by which point his closest challenger Jacob Skov Olesen of Denmark was back at +9 for the championship.

American Tommy Morrison finished on +11, while Luis Masaveu of Spain ended +18.

  9. Lowry tees offpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 21 July

    Lowry -1, Scott E

Shane Lowry strolls on the first tee. Behind his grizzly beard is a big smile. The Irishman would have been kicking his heels last night but he seems in good spirits this afternoon.

He's partnering Adam Scott, who is evens after a round of 66 yesterday.

Lowry strikes a huge drive down the fairway. He's not going to leave anything in the locker today you feel.

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at Royal Troon

A huge cheer and round of applause for Shane Lowry as he emerges on to the first tee. With Scottie Scheffler and Dan Brown in the next group off, and Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele to follow, one wonders how many will stick around for our final two groups, who don't have a marquee name among them

At 13:32, I asked if JT had figured out links golf.

His tee shot at the first has disappeared onto the beach and his second attempt is in a fairway bunker.

That may spell the end of JT's challenge before it has even started on the final day.

  12. Spieth goes round under parpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 21 July

    Spieth +5 (70)

Jordan Spieth, the 2017 Open champion, has just completed another Open campaign in five over par and ended with a flourish, holing a 25-footer for birdie on the 18th.

Among the players approaching the end of their final rounds are Scotland's Robert MacIntyre, 2013 Open winner Phil Mickelson and our defending Open champion Brian Harman.

How much do we want Richard to keep us updated on this...?

    Rahm -1 (4)

Jon Rahm's run of birdies is over at the fourth, but its a safe par for the Spaniard.

He had a look at a 25-footer for birdie and it lipped out three or four feet by - he's certainly going to give himself a chance of holing some putts today.

Playing partner Alex Noren three-putts for a bogey six to drop him back to one over for the tournament.

Obby, Kent: Most open Open for years? Love to see Rose hold the Claret Jug, but will others eg Sam Burns (eight under for past 36 holes), be making the winner's speech. Absolutely intriguing.

Don't forget to do our poll as well

  16. Has JT figured out links golf?published at 13:32 British Summer Time 21 July

A top 10 at his home Hoylake course last year for Matthew Jordan and he’s at it again here showing that links golf really is his speciality.

Two-time US PGA champion Justin Thomas has never really figured out links golf but maybe, just maybe, this is his year? He’s certainly got all the shots as one of the most creative players on the PGA Tour.

Thomas also leads the field in birdies so far this week with 16 so if he can keep that going but cut out the big numbers, he'll be in business.

  17. An American clean sweep?published at 13:30 British Summer Time 21 July

List of men's major winners in 2024

Unfortunately, there are no Scots in contention at Royal Troon this year.

In fact, six of the top 12 overnight were American.

US golfers have won the first three men's majors of the year - what chance a clean sweep for the first time since 1982?

The final three majors of 2023 also went Stateside.

    Can a European triumph?

Thumbs up if you think the Claret Jug will stay this side of the Atlantic.

Thumbs down if its heading across the pond.

  18. 'A rare Scottish win'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 21 July

You can meet some interesting people at an Open Championship. Take Harry McEachan here, who was just outside the gates.

When I asked him who he'd be following today, the 88-year-old said: "I agree with Mark Twain's opinion on golf (a good walk spoiled)."

It turns out Harry is here to promote the local Largs Viking Festival, which takes place in late August and celebrates, as Harry put it with a glint in his eye, "a rare Scottish win, and one I wish they hadn't so we'd all be Norwegian".

  20. 'Winner will be best player from tee to green'published at 13:20 British Summer Time 21 July

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

There are any number of potential winners here.

I think level par and better are likely winners, but when you see the quality of the players who are at two over par, if one of them is able to go out there and post a really low one, then that can have an effect on those up ahead.

My feeling is the quality of those who will eventually prevail here will be ball-striking, I don’t think it will be won by the best putter. It will be the best player between tee and green.

Some bloke called Scottie Scheffler tends to come up OK in that regard.
