  1. Hojgaard continues to impresspublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 12 April

    Hojgaard -5 (13)

Nicolai Hojgaard is playing well, clearly pumped and at the moment looks like he's got more tricks up his sleeve than David Blaine.

The Dane slings his second out of the pines down the right and skips it over the tributary to Rae's Creek and onto the elevated green.

His eagle putt up the slope stays left but he rolls in from four feet for a birdie.

    Some Masters debut so far.

  2. Same again for Scheffler?published at 18:35 British Summer Time 12 April

    Scheffler -6 (18:48 BST)

Scottie Scheffler's first-round 66 was his lowest score in 17 rounds at the Masters.

His previous best was a 67 in the second round in 2022 ( which he went on to win). Thursday's round was also his first ever bogey-free round at the Augusta National.

He tees off his second round shortly.

    Willett -2 (6)

Whatever happens today, it is good to see Danny Willett back playing.

Remember, the 2016 Masters champion has been sat on the sofa watching golf on the TV for most of the past seven months.

Willett had shoulder surgery in September and it's remarkable he's even competing at Augusta.

He's still playing with a smile on his face, despite dropping a couple of shots already today.

Well, you will grin when you almost hole out for a birdie from a greenside bunker.

  4. Young in the drinkpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 12 April

    Young -2 (11)

Cameron Young is finding out how quickly Augusta National can bite you, as he's dropped three shots in the space of three holes to slip quickly backwards to two under par.

The big damage is done on 11 when he finds the water short of the green with his second shot, which costs him a double-bogey six.

The trick now is to shake that off, not try and chase anything and basically go back to business as usual.

  5. DeChambeau saves parpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 12 April

    DeChambeau -6 (5)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Reuters

A satisfied smile for Bryson DeChambeau as he navigates his lengthy putt by rolling it to four feet.

He tucks that in for par to avoid back-to-back bogeys and stays within one of Max Homa.

  6. Latest leaderboardpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 12 April

    -7 Homa (10)

    -6 DeChambeau (4), Scheffler (18:48 BST)

    -5 Hojgaard (13)

    -4 Young (10)

    -3 Davis (F), Conners (3), Fox (4)

  7. Aberg bouncing backpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 12 April

    Aberg E, Spieth +7, Theegala +4 (9)

    And another.

Ludvig Aberg is an absolute joy to watch and he zings his approach into two feet on the ninth before tidying up for a birdie.

If he can keep this up, who is to say he can't get himself into contention over the next couple of days.

Talking of the weekend, Jordan Spieth makes a superb up and down to save his par. The 2015 champion has clearly not given up hope of sticking around for the weekend.

  8. Pars all roundpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 12 April

    Woods +1, Day +2, Homa -7 (10)

Lengthy birdie putt for Tiger on the 10th - it's left and long to leave a testing one back for a par, possibly from eight feet or so.

Judged perfectly as it goes right into the centre of the cup - Woods stays one over.

Meanwhile, a straightforward par for Max Homa to maintain the outright lead.

  9. Postpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 12 April

    DeChambeau -6 (4)

An excellent drive from Bryson DeChambeau on the fifth but for the second shot, he seems to have left his magic wand from yesterday in his hotel room.

This approach drifts off to the left and he will have an evil-looking 52-foot putt from the wrong part of the green.

  10. Birdie for Abergpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 12 April

    Aberg +1, Spieth +7, Theegala +4 (8)

Ludvig Aberg is pulling out all the shots as he tries to get claw back those bogeys on the fifth and sixth.

Listen to the sound of that...the 24-year-old absolutely stripes his ball down the eighth with a hybrid and runs it on to the lower plateau of the green.

Two putts from there and he's back in business.

  11. Double bogey for Willettpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 12 April

    Willett -2 (5)

It didn't look promising for Danny Willett when he walloped his second shot on the par-four fifth over the back of the green.

It looked even worse when you couldn't see the 2016 Masters champion on the TV screen because he was chopping his third shot out from the bushes.

The ball still didn't make the green and it took Willett another three shots to finish.

A double-bogey six. That's the golfing equivalent of hitting a snake and sliding down the board.

  12. Swings and roundaboutspublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 12 April

    Hojgaard -4 (12)

    Swings and roundabouts Nicolai.

Nicolai Hojgaard looks annoyed as his birdie putt doesn't drop in on the 12th. It's a good effort from 18 feet that just lacks a touch of gas but given the outrageous fortune he had to land on the dance floor I'm not sure he can be too frustrated by a tap-in par.

  13. DJ out of tunepublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 12 April

    Johnson +10, Morikawa -1, Fleetwood +1 (7)

    Dustin JohnsonImage source, Getty Images

The seventh has struck for all three players in this group as they all make bogey.

It's back-to-back bogeys for Dustin Johnson and the 2020 Masters champion is tumbling out of this year's tournament with a whimper as he falls to 10 over par.

  14. DeChambeau bogeys the fourthpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 12 April

    DeChambeau -6 (4)

Long putt incoming from Bryson DeChambeau but he's barely tickled it and the green refuses to carry his ball the full way to the hole.

He'll have to take a bogey and for the first time in 24 hours, he is off the top of the leaderboard.

Max Homa on his own up top.

  15. Postpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 12 April

    Fox -3 (2)

Ryan Fox rescues a par on the second after going well left off the tee.

The New Zealander looked like he'd need a sat-nav to find his way back from there but actually gave himself a look at birdie after a fine second shot put him within reach of the green.

  16. Postpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 12 April

    Woods +1, Day +2, Homa -7 (9)

Max Homa has gone out in 34 - a very good front half.

Tiger Woods isn't too far behind, mind.

The five-time champion scrambles a par in the end on the ninth, meaning he finishes level for the front nine and scribbles down 36.

Woods' movement and swing is looking decent at the moment. That's 14 down of his 23 holes today.

Playing partner Jason Day is battling to keep his head above the Masters guillotine and does his chances of weekend survival the world of good with a rare birdie.

  17. Postpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 12 April

    DeChambeau -7 (4)

Trouble for Bryson DeChambeau on the par-three fourth as he overshoots the green with his tee shot.

He tries to clip it back but does not get enough behind it.

He's left himself a nasty 17-foot putt to save his par.

  18. Postpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 12 April

    Woods +1, Day +3, Homa -7 (8)

While Woods makes his apologies to the patrons, Max Homa remains in his own lane.

Another birdie chance for the co-leader and another opportunity to move clear of Bryson DeChambeau.

Again, it isn't an easy one and Homa doesn't putt too aggressively.

Keep calm, take the par and move on.

  19. Postpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 12 April

    Woods +1, Day +3, Homa -7 (8)

Uh oh, Tiger Woods is running into trouble on the eighth.

After dragging his tee shot left, already not an ideal start, Woods punches his second shot right into the patrons.

Getting hit by a stray ball - even if it is one belonging to Tiger Woods - is not what anyone wants.

  20. What's the cut number?published at 17:58 British Summer Time 12 April

    Woods +1 (8)

    Tiger WoodsImage source, Getty Images

As it stands the cut line is set at three over par, with 58 players currently on that score or better and heading into the weekend.

That gives Tiger Woods a two-shot buffer as he looks to break the record for consecutive cuts made at the Masters.

And even better news for Tiger is Augusta is drying out fast and the wind is getting up, making it even more spicy for the late starters, so that number may even go higher.
