  1. Reed hits reversepublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 13 April

    Conners -7 Reed -4 (3)

Patrick Reed has hit reverse now with a bogey at the short par-four third. The 2018 Masters champion has excelled in approach player during the week, topping the field on one day, but he can't put his entire game together.

First up will be Bryson DeChambeau who lofts onto the green and spins it safe.

It's about 25 feet back after clinging onto the edge.

Terrific from Rory McIlroy to maximise his drive. Clipped on and judged beautifully to roll it round pin high.

    That's a tasty birdie chance.

  3. Bogey for Scottiepublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 13 April

    Scheffler -4, Lowry -5 (4)

World number one Scottie Scheffler doesn't have his best stuff today, he hasn't all week really, and he finds the sand off the fourth tee and then can only get to 14 feet with his escape.

That's a bogey to slip back to four under and you'd think out of the picture. It is Augusta on Sunday though.

  4. 'Rory has to get this out of his head'published at 20:09 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -11 (2)

Bryson DeChambeau’s body language is about as up as you could possibly get. I think he’s absolutely buzzing inside.

Rory has to get this out of his head. Different body language from yesterday understandably. He has to remember how he well he’s been playing.

Those two holes don’t change what’s happened over the past few days.

  5. Postpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -11 (2)

Shot tracker says Rory McIlroy has left himself 24 yards to the pin with that drive.

    Brutal!

Bryson DeChambeau picks up an iron to take aim down the third and avoid those big fairway bunkers.

    Smart from golf's biggest thinker.

No such holding back from Rory McIlroy - but that swing will do him the world of good.

Driver out, smashed down the middle.

He's marmalised this short par four.

John: A start as bad as yesterday's was good.

Dan: It sickens me to say it as a fan, but I can't see him even making top 3 at this rate. Head's gone already

Stephen: More than the double at 1, his body language after his 3rd shot on the 2nd tells me he's already in full meltdown mode. Sad that the most talented golfer of his generation can not compete mentally. Come on Rory, calm down

    Sixteen holes to go.

This isn't the US Open 2024 where Bryson DeChambeau held all the cards.

We know what Augusta National can do to people.

    Can Rory McIlroy reset?

  9. DeChambeau edges aheadpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -11 (2)

OK, a first well judged shot from Rory McIlroy of the round as he rolls that niggling 30-foot putt in close and finishes it off for par.

    Bleeding stemmed.

It won't help his mood though to look round and see Bryson DeChambeau knocking in that birdie putt.

    He's into the lead.

  10. 'Bryson, man of the people'published at 20:03 British Summer Time 13 April

    Stephen Watson
BBC Sport Northern Ireland at Augusta National

Before they teed off you could feel the atmosphere on the range as Rory and Bryson hit balls beside each other. Rory left first to rapturous applause, followed by the American who left it late - just six minutes before their start time. Ever the showman Bryson stopped to sign autographs with the many young fans, with cheers of “Bryson man of the people!"

  11. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -10 (1)

Bryson DeChambeau's big long putt crawls down the hill, starts to go again and then stops dead.

He'll have a birdie chance but I reckon that's about 15 feet still.

  12. 'Ragged start to his round'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -10 (1)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio Five Sports Extra

More frustration from McIlroy in this ragged start to his round. He’s shaking his head, and his knees go and he’s just looking disconsolate.

He cannot believe it. He bent down at the waist, dropping his club in frustration.

Wafted in from Rory McIlroy with his third shot but it was tentative and he's left it well short.

Not sure where the swashbuckling golfer from Saturday has gone.

  14. Green speedspublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 13 April

    Aberg -7 Day-5 (3)

These greens are rapid today! Ludvig Aberg just breathes on his putt at the third but it rolls on and on down the hill and pulls up barely a foot away wfter a nice judge of pace from the Swede.

If they continue to dry out, come the second nines these greens will be like putting on the proverbial marble staircase and trying to stop it on the second last step.

  15. Postpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -10 (1)

Bryson DeChambeau has walked 365 yards to find his ball, and it's perfectly positioned to attack the second green.

It's a swooping seven iron in and he's landed his ball at the top left of the green.

That will be a difficult long putt - but it will be for an eagle.

  16. Postpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 13 April

    Conners -7 Reed -5 (2)

Augusta made Corey Conners look a bit of a mug on the first, and it tests him out again with a knee-knocker for par, but the Canadian holes out this time.

He's such a great iron player usually, but the chink in the Conners armour is with the putter - not what you need at the Masters.

Stuart: Double bogey start and just like that advantage gone. Going to be a long day at the office for Rory. Mentally as much as anything.

Fi: Rory needs to ignore the noise. Not get drawn into fighting DeChambeau, play the course like he has done the last 3 days and fingers crossed that’s enough.

  18. Bad bogey for Lowrypublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 13 April

    Scheffler -5, Lowry -5 (3)

Bad bogey for Shane Lowry on the third, as he lays up 150 yards back even though it's only a 350-yard par four, but the plan backfires as he then guns his approach miles over the back of the green.

The chip back is almost impossible to get close so a shot goes begging.

You could say the same for Scottie Scheffler too who chipped up his second pretty close but then missed the putt!

  19. 'It's gone - just get on with it'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -10, DeChambeau -10 (1)

    Trish Johnson

Not ideal. I will only say one thing – if you’re going to do this, do it early and he’s done it on the earliest hole and maybe that will get rid of the nerves.

It’s gone – just get on with it.

To be fair to Rory McIlroy, he's been very unlucky twice with those tee shots.

On the first and the second, he's literally clipped the edge of the bunker and seen his ball rebound.

A yard further and he'd have been safely away and running down the middle.

Did he walk under a ladder or break any mirrors this morning?
