"You are the bane of my existence ... and the object of all my desires."

Sounds like Rory McIlroy and his hunt for a Masters title!

With the four-time major winner hoping to relax/sleep in front of Bridgerton and Bryson DeChambeau favouring James Bond, let's have a bit of fun.

Hit us with which film/TV characters are most like each player - in fact any of the players out there today.

I fancy Bryson would relish the role of a classic Bond villain...

Remember to include #bbcgolf for a shoutout.

The first person to meet Rory McIlroy at the tournament practice area is Bob Rotella.

The pair embrace and the renowned sports phycologist takes Rory inside for a three-minute chat before he emerges to commence his warm-up.

The advice has been working so far this week.

  4. Bogey finish for Hidekipublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 13 April

    Matsuyama -2 (66)

Ah Hideki. With a 64 in reach, he dumps his second shot to the par-four 18th into the front bunker.

He splashes out to eight feet but pushes his putt a fraction. Bogey to finish.

Still, I reckon there'd be some golfers teeing off in the next 45 minutes or so who would be delighted with a six-under-par 66 today.

  5. Who are the career Grand Slam winners?published at 18:46 British Summer Time 13 April

    Jack Nicklaus.

    Gene Sarazen.

    Ben Hogan.

    Gary Player.

    Tiger Woods.

If Rory McIlroy stays precisely where he is on the leaderboard over the next 18 holes, he joins that exclusive club.

  6. More people walked on moon than won Grand Slampublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 13 April

There have been 470 men's major championships played in golfing history, with 233 players winning at least one.

Only five players have managed to win all four though, and that number by itself illustrates perfectly what a truly historic feat is awaiting Rory McIlroy in just 18 good holes

Even in the most comparable sport of tennis - with the same big four major events with big fields - there have only been eight men and 10 women to have won their career Grand Slam.

But in golf it's proven to be much more elusive - more people have walked on the moon than won a golfing Grand Slam.

A McIlroy victory would take him into the stratosphere of sporting greatness.

There's no running at Augusta National, so this morning when the patrons entered the property there was a lot of fast walking by those wanting to go and get their favourite viewing spots for today's spectacle.

"I'll have some dinner and try to make it through the second episode of the third season of Bridgerton," Rory McIlroy said of his evening plans. "I fell asleep during episode one [on Friday night].

"I'll put the phone away. I've tried to stay clear of that this week. Try not to look at it until Sunday night."

As for Bryson DeChambeau, he's very happy to keep his phone out:

"Eating, looking at my phone – I don't have a problem with that," he said.

"Watching a movie – probably James Bond or something. I love James Bond movies. Pierce Brosnan."

Tomorrow never dies? If McIlroy wins here, it'll be today that is remembered forever.

  9. A low score out therepublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 13 April

    Matsuyama -3 (17)

We seem to say it every year, but there is always one out of contention player going low on the final day, leaping up the leaderboard.

Today, that player is 2021 champion Hideki Matsuyama. Seven birdies. No bogeys. The 18th to play. The Japanese is looking at a top-15 finish from out of nowhere.

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

But... that's not the last time these two met.

Think of it what you will, but back in December, McIlroy teamed up with Scottie Scheffler in Las Vegas for matchplay against DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in the inaugural The Showdown.

    And the winners?

Scheffler and McIlroy inside 14 holes.

    He'd take that today.

On a balmy Sunday evening in June last year, Bryson DeChambeau outlasted Rory McIlroy to score his second major victory - with the US Open title.

It was crushing for McIlroy too - he had a two-shot lead with five to play but coughed up two short putts and lost by one.

A decade since his previous major, this was one of the most heartbreaking of them all.

Plenty are billing this as the rematch...

  12. But Bryson brought his own fireworks...published at 18:29 British Summer Time 13 April

After hanging in tough for 17 rounds, Bryson DeChambeau exploded on the 18th green with this remarkable birdie putt.

Don't rule him out for anywhere around that final hole if he has a chance to win the Masters later tonight.

  13. Flying startpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

We should take a moment to appreciate Rory McIlroy's start yesterday.

Three birdies and an eagle in his first five holes - and the first golfer ever to open at Augusta with six threes.

And this after lighting up the second nine on Friday three birdies and an eagle.

Hopefully, he has had the same breakfast today.

If Rory McIlroy isn't just a little scared today, he should be! After all, he's facing all of his golfing demons in one go in his bid to lift a decade of mounting pressure on his shoulders.

He has to bury the ghost of Masters past at the scene of his first major meltdown in 2011.

He'll be doing while staring into the eyes of his tormentor-in-chief from last year in Bryson DeChambeau, who wrestled the US Open title out of his hands after his late fumble.

Those are some serious mental barriers McIlroy has to deal with. and they go far and above the actual physical performance on the course.

More reasons why a win would be so monumental.

Rory McIlroy solo 54-hole leads at majors graphics. Won all but 2011 Masters

Rory McIlroy has had the solo outright 54-hole lead at a major five times.

On four of those occasions, he has closed it out.

The outlier? On this property way back in 2011, when he melted down on the second nine.

    Time to rewrite history.
