We all know what the real competition is between two of the game's biggest bombers.

According to the Masters official website, Bryson DeChambeau is just edging Rory McIlroy for average distance this week - 329.8 yards to 324.5.

Can Rory get his hands on the prize everyone wants this week?

Right then, shall we get on with it?

    Caffeine? Check.

    Snacks? Check.

Four hours (and more) of spectacular sport is coming right up.

Why would you think about going anywhere else?

  3. 'The tactician and the street fighter'published at 19:24 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

    Nick Faldo
    Three-time Open Champion

Three-time Masters champion Nick Faldo speaking on Sky Sports:

"You’ve got two guys who are completely different. You’ve got the tactician, and you’ve got the street fighter.

"If Rory McIlroy hits four great tee shots down the par fives, set them up, make easy birdies and maybe an eagle as well, then he will be very difficult to catch.

  4. Big change on 16...published at 19:23 British Summer Time 13 April

    The MastersImage source, The Masters

Interesting move by Augusta National in deciding against the traditional Sunday front pin placement on 16 and instead going for the back right of the green in honour of Jack Nicklaus, who won his fifth Masters title 50 years ago this year.

Back in 1975, Nicklaus claimed yet another Green Jacket thanks in part to a huge 40-foot putt to this flag on the 16th, which is a must harder position than the usual one.

    Will it prove decisive tonight?

    Anyone excited?

  7. Cool start for Collinpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 13 April

    Morikawa -5 (4)

Collin Morikawa has not been to the fore this week, but has acquitted himself fairly well to hover around the top 10 throughout.

It's a fine start for the two-time major champion today with a couple of birdies through his opening four holes.

That'll take him to five under.

Too far back to challenge though you'd have to think.

  8. Postpublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

Worth saying that Rory McIlroy would become the first European to win the career Grand Slam if he gets the job done.

So far, it's four Americans and one South African in the club.

(Test yourself on who, then check out the post at 18:46 BST for the list)

  9. DeChambeau to make history?published at 19:15 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

Of course, Bryson DeChambeau has his own chance at joining an exclusive club with victory here.

Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the only three players to win the US Amateur, the US Open and the Masters.

DeChambeau already has two US Opens, and won the amateur title in 2015.

    McIlroy -12, Dechambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

Bryson DeChambeau spoke to CBS Sports earlier:

Last player at the tournament practice facility last night - grinding between that 150-200 yard marker - what did you find?

"Just a more comfortable position and getting my face alignment a little more consistent. That's what you've got to do to get your golf ball round here, and hopefully it pays off."

What does being ready look like for you?

"Just excited for the opportunity. Going to have a lot of fun today.

"It's going to be a great battle."

  11. Practice makes perfect?published at 19:10 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

No-one can accuse Bryson DeChambeau of being work-shy.

Prior to yesterday's round, he'd hit almost 1,000 balls at the practice area during the tournament - far more than anyone else.

And he was back there again last night until after sunset - working on his approach shots.

    "The Scientist" is always tinkering.

  12. How the two frontrunners comparepublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

Graph of McIlroy and DeChambeau's ranks for strokes gained this week: Metric	McIlroy	DeChambeau Off the tee	2	5 Tee to green	1	2 Approach	1	49 Around the green	11	1 Putting	30	5

These two are barely separable off the tee and from tee to green but after that we start to see some divergence.

Rory McIlroy has been outrageous in his approach work this week - and that's Bryson DeChambeau's weakest area. If McIlroy starts by flighting in close, then that will throw the gauntlet down.

Tables are turned on the greens though where Bryson's putter has been red hot.

It helps when you drain birdie putts from 48 feet but we've seen McIlroy's flatstick go cold on Sunday before. He was ranked seventh in round two - it would be useful for him to rediscover that form today.

  13. Watch: DeChambeau and McIlroy warm up ahead of the final roundpublished at 19:06 British Summer Time 13 April

    Stephen Watson
BBC Sport Northern Ireland at Augusta National

Bryson de Chambeau walks onto the tournament practice area to a ripple of applause, followed by Rory McIlroy a few minutes later who receives loud, prolonged cheers.

You can feel really feel the support from the patrons for Rory, despite Bryson being an American.

The two then go straight to the putting green where they concentrate on their own practice without interaction.

  14. Rose opens with a birdiepublished at 19:06 British Summer Time 13 April

    Rose -6 (1)

That's more like it from Justin Rose.

An immediate move from the 18-hole and 36-hole leader.

He's eked into Rory McIlroy's lead with a beautifully crafted birdie at the first.

  15. In case you didn't believe mepublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 13 April

    McIlroy -12, DeChambeau -10 (19:30 BST)

To hammer home the point that Rory McIlroy wins things - a lot - I made this graphic.

How much it counts when you're standing over a knee-knocking six-footer at the 18th to win the Masters, I'm not quite sure.

    McIlroy v DeChambeau career stats. Major victories 4 v 2, PGA Tour titles 28 v 9, Other professional wins 15 v 4, Best finish at the Masters 2nd v 6th

So much focus on the US Open last year, but look beyond that to see how Rory McIlroy is a far more seasoned winner than Bryson DeChambeau.

Even this year already, he has two huge events to his name - winning at Pebble Beach and closing at The Players have to stand him in good stead.

DeChambeau is a showman, who enjoys the big stage, but his record on LIV is patchy. He's not won a tournament since 2023.

McIlroy just needs to do what Scottie Scheffler does and "stay in his lane".

Other horses in this race include rock-solid Canadian Corey Conners, 2018 winner Patrick Reed , sophomore sensation Ludvig Aberg...and you've probably heard of Scottie Scheffler.

  18. What are the biggest Masters comebacks?published at 18:57 British Summer Time 13 April

Nick Faldo embraces his caddie Fanny SunessonImage source, Getty Images

Of course it looks like Rory McIlroy v Bryson DeChambeau for the Masters title, but Augusta National is famed for comebacks, so what are the biggest?

There's so much quality in this field tonight that you could easily see someone making a move.

Hideki Matsuyama has already proved birdies are out there - but big numbers still lurk around every corner.

    Biggest comebacks after 54 holes

    • 8 shots - Jack Burke (1956)
    • 7 - Gary Player (1978)
    • 6 - Nick Faldo (1990)

    Final round comebacks

    • 2016 - Danny Willett - five shots with six holes to play
    • 1979 - Fuzzy Zoeller - three with three to play
    • 1989 - Nick Faldo - three with three to play
  19. Four groups left to go outpublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 13 April

Now that Justin Rose is out on the course, here's a reminder of who is left to tee off.

7.00pm Scottie Scheffler (US), Shane Lowry (Ire)

7.10pm Ludvig Aberg (Swe), Jason Day (Aus)

7.20pm Corey Conners (Can), Patrick Reed (US)

7.30pm Rory McIlroy (NI), Bryson DeChambeau (US)

  20. What happened to Rosey?published at 18:55 British Summer Time 13 April

Amid the madness of yesterday, the leader through both rounds one and two Justin Rose slid back with a three-over par 75.

So dialled in on the greens in racing out to -8 through Thursday and Friday, he ranked dead last for putting going out with Bryson DeChambeau.

He'll be away from the spotlight this evening as he tees off alongside former winner Zach Johnson.

Probably just how he will like it.
