    3UP Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark (13)

A smart iron shot from Sarah Schmelzel gets her on the dancefloor on the 13th. She watches Emily Pedersen miss a putt for birdie, then cashes in by stoic birdie putt of her own to win the hole.

It draws roars of approval from the crowd and an encouraging clap from watching US captain Stacy Lewis.

The American duo are 3UP on their European counterparts.

  2. Way to celebratepublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 13 September

    Al Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom - Europe win 6&5

This is actually Madelene Sangstrom's honeymoon after tying the knot with LPGA Tour caddie Jack Clarke last weekend.

And who is her husband caddieing for this week? Playing partner Anna Nordqvist.

"It's just amazing," Sangstrom said. "It's just incredible watching him work with Anna over this past year. They work really well together.

"[We are] really happy on the golf course and to just be there and experience it together. This is what we dream about.

"It's fantastic. I couldn't be any more happy to celebrate my honeymoon here with them."

Magdelene Sagstrom and Anna Nordqvist spoke on the 13th green after claiming Europe's second point on a tough opening day:

Magdelene Sagstrom: "Suzann [Pettersen] thought we were a strong team together and we played really well. .

"Today all we needed to do was go and get a point for Europe. She believed in us to play together, which is a first."

Anna Nordqvist: "We’re just going to have to keep putting our best foot forward. I think we had a really good game plan for the week.

"Obviously the States came out really strong today, which we really expected but there’s a lot of golf left.

"You’ve got to keep doing your best."

  4. Zhang extends leadpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 13 September

    4UP An Lee/Zhang v Grant/Hull (12)

    Hammerblow from Rose Zhang.

She has a lengthy eagle putt and, before Grant gets her birdie shot, she thrashes it into the hole.

A beaming smile breaks out as this US pair move four clear with only six to play.

Six holes to go, so can Linn Grant and Charley Hull mount a recovery? You feel this par-five 12th is a key place for it to start?

Linn Grant spins a chip out of the rough from behind the green and sets up a decent birdie look.

Madelene Sagstrom is still buzzing on the 13th green as she stands arm-in-arm with fellow Swede Anna Nordqvist.

But given state of the match it’s rather quickly been brushed over by the US contingent, that now includes Nelly Korda, waiting for Lauren Coughlin and Sarah Schmelzel to arrive.

    2UP Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark (12)

Birdie chances for all four players on the 12th.

Emily Pedersen comes up short while American pair Lauren Coughlin and Sarah Schmelzel go wide.

Maja Stark has the best opportunity, but sees her putt kiss the lip of the hole then swing out.

    The hole is halved.

    Lydia Hall
Ladies European Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Europe haven’t played bad golf [but] they haven’t holed the putts they needed to hole. There were plenty of birdie opportunities but they didn’t fall in the hole.

Suzann needs to step up and I want to see her almost on the tee and in these girls' faces saying: "Come on, fight for every single half point."

These girls need to get riled up and they need to find something.

  10. Swedes too hot to handlepublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 13 September

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom 6&5 (F)

Anna Nordqvist is in her ninth Solheim Cup but showed she's as good as ever by fending off Lexi Thompson and Alison Lee before Madelene Sagstrom found her stride after nine holes.

The Swedish pair won six holes in a row and combined to go nine under for 13 holes - just stellar golf from the Swedes.

  11. Swede success for Europepublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 13 September

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom - Europe win 6&5

Anna Nordqvist sinks her putt on the 13th to seal a brilliant 6&5 victory alongside Madelene Sagstrom over Lexi Thompson and Alison Lee.

That's some demolition job by the European pair in what otherwise has been a dominant USA display today.

    Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire - USA win 6&4

World number one Nelly Korda and Megan Khang have been speaking on Sky after wrapping up a commanding victory:

"I hit some solid putts in the morning but obviously then I saw the green speed and how they were breaking so that was beneficial in the afternoon," Korda said.

"When you have a team-mate that's so pure off the tee, you don't have to worry and just kind of end it. The motto was to go for it and send it and if I sent it in the wrong direction, I knew I had a partner who doesn't miss often."

Megan Khang: "We have been asking for this pairing for quite a while and when we were told we had got it we were pumped. We had so much fun out there!

"Even when I missed a couple of putts early on we told each other it was OK.

"It's awesome to have a front-row seat to see some of the putts Nelly has been making."

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom 5UP (12)

Anna Nordqvist fires in a dart with a six iron to the 13th green, and Madelene Sagstrom manages to stick it even closer with her approach.

These two Swedes have hit some red-hot form over the last five holes, making four birdies and an eagle for a best-ball six under during that stretch. Even Nelly Korda would struggle to cope with that.

  15. US extend lead in final grouppublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 13 September

    An Lee/Zhang v Grant/Hull (11)

Over at the par-three 11th, Linn Grant is up first with a birdie putt attempt from 15 feet. It misses - and that gives the USA a chance to make it three holes in a row. This was previously a very tight match.

It's a chance Rose Zhang gobbles up. It looks a long way back for Europe in this one.

  16. Five star Swedes in controlpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 13 September

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom 5UP (12)

Madelene Sagstrom from a different post code, sorry, zip code, sees her land an eagle on the 12th to put Europe 5UP with five to play so they can't lose this one now after hitting a massive hot streak.

The Swedish pair have hit the afterburners around the turn, and have now won five holes in a row to take total control of this match.

    Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire - USA win 6&4

    Lydia Hall
Ladies European Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

They've done the exact job Stacy Lewis would have wanted - to go out, win, and win hard.

It's looking a little bleak now for Team Europe going two down in the bottom two matches too.

I don't think I've ever seen Nelly Korda so animated, enjoying being in that situation. Both her and Megan Khang look like they thoroughly enjoyed it.

  19. Korda & Khang triumphpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 13 September

    6&4 Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire (F)

An imperious performance from Nelly Korda backed up by some pretty handy golf by Megan Khang has given them an emphatic victory over Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire.

World number one Korda's sumptuous approach slot at the 14th gives her an eagle putt, and she finishes in style.

USA go 4-1 up on Europe.

  20. US go two up in final matchpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 13 September

    An Lee/Zhang v Grant/Hull (10)

Here comes Rose Zhang with an eagle attempt at 10. It scoots by but Andrea Lee will tuck home a birdie putt of her own to pile the pressure on the European pair.

Oh and Linn Grant has pushed it off the toe of her putter and past the hole. With Charley Hull stuck out in the rough, it is a gift of a hole to the Americans.
