The USA have got a certain Barack Obama cheering them on at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.

  2. Missed chancespublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 13 September

    Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark A/S (6)

Europe dodge a bit of a bullet on six - actually two bullets. Both Lexi Thompson and Alison Lee have very makeable putts to win the hole, but both fail to hit the target.

That's almost like a win for Europe.

  3. Khang puts USA firmly in controlpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 13 September

    4UP Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire (7)

Nelly Korda is human after all, missing a birdie putt at the seventh. However, American partner Megan Khang duly steps up and sinks hers instead.

Georgia Hall has a chance to halve the hole, but her putt flirts with the hole but does not drop in. Europe cannot catch a break.

The USA are running away with match one.

  4. Postpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 13 September

    Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark A/S (5)

Fabulous bunker shot from Emily Pedersen looks to have given Europe the upper hand, but Lauren Coughlin is equal to it as she drains a birdie putt of her own to halve the hole.

  5. Throwing dartspublished at 18:58 British Summer Time 13 September

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom A/S (5)

Alison Lee is joining the party as she takes dead aim at the flag at the sixth - followed immediately by Lexi Thompson and the Americans have it surrounded and are favourites to take this hole after the approach shots.

  6. Grant gets Europe back in frontpublished at 18:54 British Summer Time 13 September

    An Lee/Zhang v Grant/Hull 1UP (4)

We've not seen a huge amount of Linn Grant but she's shown her teeth with a lovely birdie putt at the fourth.

A great response to Rose Zhang's huge putt at the last - and then the American misses again from closer in.

Some blue does return to the leaderboard.

  9. Korda's putter on firepublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 13 September

    3UP Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire (6)

Nelly Korda's putter is absolutely sizzling.

She birdies the sixth which leaves Leona Maguire needing to do the same to share the hole, but she skims it.

Georgia Hall and Maguire are under the pump here.

  10. Lexi levels it uppublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 13 September

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom A/S (5)

Lexi Thompson ties this match up at the fifth as she takes advantage of the par five to make a birdie and drag it back to all square.

The longer holes are playing into the hands of Team USA so far today, which is what Suzann Pettersen predicted before the tournament as she said the course is set up to favour the bigger hitters.

  11. Zhang holes monster puttpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 13 September

Red roars are reverberating around Robert Trent Jones Golf Club and that's because Rose Zhang has just sunk a terrific putt from off the back of the third green.

Stunning, especially after she'd missed two much simpler putts previously in this round.

It's enough to win the hole and level the scores again.

  12. Great sand savepublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 13 September

    Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark A/S (4)

Big time sand save for par by Sarah Schmelzel at the fourth and in one of those 'classic matchplay moments' from Europe being favourites to win this hole, all of a sudden they're under pressure to save it.

Emily Pedersen stabs a twitchy short putt wide of the mark but Maja Stark saves the day by cleaning up for the half.

  13. Postpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 13 September

    2UP Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire (5)

Nelly Korda looks every inch the world number one as she effortlessly chips out of the sand at the sixth hole and on to the green.

Both Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire are also in with birdie shouts, though.

  14. Water troublepublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 13 September

    Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark A/S (3)

Lauren Coughlin's struggles continue at the fourth as she finds the water off the tee - which spooks Sarah Schmelzel and she tugs her tee shot miles left and into the bunker.

  15. Scrappy thirdpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 13 September

    Coughlin/Schmelzel v Pedersen/Stark A/S (3)

It just gets a bit slow and scrappy at the third with a couple of fluffed chips and Lauren Coughlin ending up with a double bogey.

Sarah Schmelzel gets her par though to halve the hole with the Europeans who both make four.

  16. Korda putting supberlypublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 13 September

    2UP Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire (5)

Nelly Korda's short game is absolutely on song at the moment.

The 26-year-old nails a long putt at the fifth to win a second hole and gets a high five off team-mate Megan Khang.

Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire need to find a response from somewhere.

    American supportersImage source, Getty Images

Of the 100,000 fans expected to be present at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club this week, organisers say only around 5% will likely be rooting for a victory for Europe.

The data used for working out support is far from perfect mind because it feeds off the home address given by fans, so any Europeans living in the US that have purchased tickets will inaccurately be classified under the home crowd.

In reverse, any American fans travelling from Europe would be regarded as away fans.

  18. Zhang putt slides bypublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 13 September

    An Lee/Zhang v Grant/Hull 1UP (2)

Looks like Rose Zhang has not packed the right putter in her bag for this afternoon session.

A magic approach shot set up five feet for birdie at two but, as at the first, she's missed it.

It costs the Americans the chance to level the final match.

  19. Quality birdiespublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 13 September

    Lee/Thompson v Nordqvist/Sagstrom 1UP (4)

Anna Nordqvist is one of the most stylish golfers around, even her first pump when she knocks in her birdie putt on four is delivered with more style than aggression.

Lexi Thompson, though, follows her in for the half and her first pump has a lot more American enthusiasm behind it, before geeing up the crowd as she strides off to the next.

  20. Hall into the sandpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 13 September

    1UP Korda/Khang v Hall/Maguire (4)

Georgia Hall pulls the three wood out the bag in an attempt to hit the green with her second shot on the fifth, but it's not quite got the legs on it and she finds the sand.
