    2UP Vu/Schmelzel v Ciganda/Grant (12)

Sarah Schmelzel is behind the 12th green down a rough-coated slope but is able to dig her shot out and knock it in close enough to have a tap-in birdie..

Europe's Carlota Ciganda has a long-range putt to match her but she does not like that at all and it comes up way short.

It's conceded but the hole is USA's - and they go two up.

  2. Zhang & Coughlin take controlpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 13 September

    3UP Zhang/Coughlin v Boutier/Valenzuela (14)

Rose Zhang and Lauren Coughlin are beaming from ear to ear on the green at the 14th hole after they two putt to go three up.

The American duo look to have match two sewn up with four holes left to play barring something special from Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela.

  3. Big miss from Hullpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 13 September

    2UP Korda/Corpuz v Hull/Henseleit (15)

That's an awful miss and at even worse time from Charley Hull, who fails to convert from five feet to allow Nelly Korda to tap in a tiddler and take a two-hole lead with three to play.

Errors have marred this match for Europe, but that's the first really bad missed putt from Hull, who will be fuming at that one. Those are killers in this competition, but even more so why you are heading down the stretch.

  4. Two bad missespublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 13 September

    Ewing/Kupcho v Stark/Pedersen 3UP (13)

Disappointing putt from Emily Pedersen from only about five feet as it's a weak effort that breaks away from the cup.

That leaves Ally Ewing with only four feet for the hole - but she batters the ball through the break and it slams into the left lip and stays up.

Europe stay three ahead with five holes left.

  5. Valenzuela in the lakepublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 13 September

    2UP Zhang/Coughlin v Boutier/Valenzuela A/S (13)

With Europe playing catch up in match two Albane Valenzuela attempts a bold shot at the 14th across the lake, but rather than find the green the ball plops into the water.

With the Americans having gone the safe route to the pin Rose Zhang chips on to the green for a useful birdie opportunity.

A danger of things unravelling for Celine Boutier and Valenzuela in these final four holes.

That's a bonus for the Europeans as they win the par-five 12th, winning with just a par as the Americans undo their great work by letting the hole slip away with a bogey.

It will be a nice settler for Emily Pedersen and Maja Stark to go back to three in front with just six holes left to play.

  8. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 13 September

    1UP Vu/Schmelzel v Ciganda/Grant (11)

A chink of light for Sarah Schmelzel to extend the USA's lead in the final pair as she lines up a putt from 12 feet.

It looks good but ultimately stays up and she looks slightly rueful as she collects her ball.

    Europe reprieved.

  9. Redemption for Corpuzpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 13 September

    1UP Korda/Corpuz v Hull/Henseleit (14)

Charley Hull and Nelly Korda hit it to a relatively similar distance leaving their partners with the chance to redeem themselves after finding the water.

Esther Henseleit just fails but Allisen Corpuz makes hers to send the USA back in front with just four to play.

A few shouts of “you got the wrong club” and “watch the wind” up there from US fans as Esther Henseleit dunks her approach into the pond at the front of the 14th green.

Those same fans are a little less pleased to see Allisen Corpuz’s effort spin back off the green into the drink.

  11. Coughlin grabs the initiativepublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 13 September

    2UP Zhang/Coughlin v Boutier/Valenzuela A/S (13)

Lauren Coughlin cashes in on that fine approach shot from Rose Zhang at the 13th as she taps in a straightforward putt to win the hole with a birdie.

Coughlin points to the sky with a big cheesy grin amid plenty of whooping and hollering from a partisan home crowd.

The American pair are two up on Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela.

  12. Splashdown! (again)published at 15:08 British Summer Time 13 September

    Korda/Corpuz v Hull/Henseleit A/S (13)

Oh boy! Allisen Corpuz has pretty much the same shot as Henseleit had a moment ago, but instead of bailing out and playing it safe, she also goes for the carry onto the green.

Although her ball does touch dry land, it's not far enough and it tumbles down the slope and also ends up in the water.

I'm not sure that was the best play in the circumstances.

    1UP Vu/Schmelzel v Ciganda/Grant (10)

Rock solid putts from both Lilia Vu and Carlota Ciganda mean this final group head for the 11th still with just a single hole between them.

You get the feeling this one could go the distance - and their pace has quickened a touch too.

Rose Zhang with a brilliant approach shot at the 13th opens up a chance for her and American partner Lauren Coughlin to go two up against European duo Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela.

This feels like a pivotal hole in match two.

  15. Splashdown!published at 15:05 British Summer Time 13 September

    Korda/Corpuz v Hull/Henseleit A/S (13)

Oh dear, that's not what Esther Henseleit wanted to see as her fairway wood approach to the par five fails to clear the water and ends up in the drink.

The German, and her caddie are left scratching their heads.

  17. All square!published at 14:59 British Summer Time 13 September

    Korda/Corpuz v Hull/Henseleit A/S (13)

And we're level again in the top match thanks to a birdie for the Europeans who continue to mix touches of brilliance with big mistakes.

We're all square though heading down the stretch and absolutely anything could happen in this one.

  18. Valenzuela misses after Coughlin birdiepublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 13 September

    1UP Zhang/Coughlin v Boutier/Valenzuela (12)

Fist bumps between Rose Zhang and Lauren Coughlin at the 12th after the latter sinks a solid putt for birdie.

Albane Valenzuela is left with a tricky putt to halve the hole, but feels the pressure and it dribbles wide.

The Swiss quickly rallied to a missed putt in the front nine. Can she respond again?

  19. Lip out!published at 14:58 British Summer Time 13 September

    Ewing/Kupcho v Stark/Pedersen 2UP (11)

Hello! Emily Pedsersen lips out on the 11th and that hands the hole to the USA who all of a sudden are only two holes down.

After being four down through five that's some comeback and could just make the European get a bit twitchy now down this back nine.

  20. 'There just weren't enough buses'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 13 September

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport in Virginia

On the back of the LPGA apology, I've been speaking to Tom, from Ohio. His views are representative of the vast majority of people I've spoken to today.

He was in the queue for a shuttle bus from the car park at 05:30am but didn't get on a bus until 07:05... just as the first shots were being hit. It's about a 25-minute journey from the parking facility.

"The first tee is my favourite part of the day so I'm not happy I missed it," he said. "There just weren't enough buses.

"They prioritised the volunteers, which I understand, but it's quite simple, they know how many tickets they've sold so just get the people here."
