I was going to wrap up with that scoreboard post, but let's finish with a few images.

    Because there are some crackers...

    Full scoreboard

Just one full point on Sunday for Europe - but how important were those tied matches in the second half of the round?

  8. Rahm on Olazabalpublished at 00:03 BST 29 September

    Europe win the Ryder Cup

Jon Rahm on having fellow Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal as a vice-captain: "It's incredibly inspirational but at times I almost feel more pressure just because his presence is there and I know what he's seeing and in a way what he expects of me.

"I was able to pull off a few shots here and there but definitely as much as he helps me it's extra intensity when he's there. But it's the loveliest feeling out there. He told us this week, he didn't want to be known any longer as the last Ryder Cup Captain to win in the US. Just happy that we could deliver that for him."

  9. 'The boys and the badge'published at 23:59 BST 28 September

Justin Rose is asked why he putts so well in Ryder Cups compared to a normal tournament:

"I've no idea. I wish I did. I guess it is because of the boys and the badge."

    Europe win the Ryder Cup

The US were within a whisker of the most sensational comeback in Ryder Cup history with an incredible singles effort.

Does that put even more heat on captain Keegan Bradley for the US' performance on the first two days, when the skipper has more influence?

  11. 'This one feels very special'published at 23:53 BST 28 September

    Europe win the Ryder Cup

Europe's Jon Rahm on an epic final day: "The US team did nothing short of amazing. What they almost pulled off was incredible but luckily we had a big enough lead and the people to get it done.

"Hard to describe what an atmosphere it's been all week, how tough it's been for all of us and I couldn't be any prouder of everybody on the team. We came together as a team and we did what we thought was impossible. This one feels very special.

"It's golf. Sports. It's the reason why on Sunday you play 12 points. A lot of things can change, and it did today. Again, the US did what they needed to, made great putts. That kind of set the tone and then the cheers keep happening and you can feel it throughout the whole golf course, and the boys in the hardest position of all were able to hold on and get it done.

"Also kudos to Ludvig [Aberg] for getting the win. He stayed steady against a tough opponent like Patrick Cantlay and got the point early, which was very helpful, as well."

  12. 'I hoped it wouldn't come down to me!'published at 23:51 BST 28 September

    Europe win the Ryder Cup

Tyrrell Hatton, after securing the half point that secured victory for Europe: It's been one of the hardest days I have ever experienced on a golf course. Going out number 10 you are hoping everything is wrapped up even if you still want to take pride in your individual record - but the US lads put up an incredible fight.

"It was to be expected because they are amazing players. Selfishly I was really hoping it would not have to come down to me! The last five, six, seven holes were just horrible to be honest but I am just so happy we have managed to win.

"This is a special team. I am very fortunate to be a small part of it. You have 12 players, caddies, vice-captains, captain but there are so many backroom staff that put so much effort into this. We are a small part of a huge team. It is my fourth one and they are the greatest golf weeks of your life."

Luke Donald talking to BBC Radio 5 Sport:

"It almost hasn't sunk in yet, the way things turned out the last few hours. Keegan - I've got to give them so much credit for how hard they fought. They had a lot of support behind them and they made it very difficult, but I'm glad we got it over the line.

"It was so nerve-wracking, the most nerve-wracking I've ever been on a golf course, and I wasn't hitting a shot. I can't imagine what these guys felt, but they got it done."

Eileen: Such a wonderful weekend for Europe. Well done to Luke Donald - he’s been a marvellous Captain. Roll on 2027 - all welcome to Adare.

Richard: The greatest Ryder Cup of all time without a question. Nerve-racking, edge-of-your-seat stuff and quality golf under so much pressure. Give Luke Donald a knighthood I say. And keep him on until the next one in Europe.

David: Wow, what an incredible sporting spectacle. Well done Europe but well played USA as well.

Paul: What an amazing day of golf, Europe really pushed by a very impressive effort from the US on the last day. So pleased for all the team because that was a herculean team effort and played some amazing golf.

Not seen this amount of delirious people staggering around in a mixture of exhilaration and emotion since the Oasis reunion at Heaton Park.

Proper post-gig vibe outside the Bethpage clubhouse.

Team Europe are, I’m pleased to report, on the celebratory beers in their winning news conference.

Luke Donald stepped in for Henrik Stenson two years ago and suddenly given that opportunity he showed us how great he could be.

I personally would be surprised if he goes for a third term. I think this is the moment to bow out. He'll bow out a legend.

More from European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald:

On adopting a new style and what were the changes?

"Having a repeat captain for one. I was just fortunate to have a team that knew me and trusted me.

"That’s all I tried to do - just be the best prepared that I can be.

"So many different things went into this, dealing with the environment, the communication with the players. I’m so happy for them.

    And two more years?

"I think I’m going to enjoy tonight first."

    Europe win the Ryder Cup

The 8.5 points won by the USA is the joint-most won in singles since Europe joined in 1979 - it's now happened five times but it's the first time the team dominating the singles hasn't won the Ryder Cup.

Teams to win 8.5 singles points:

    • 1979 USA
    • 1999 USA
    • 2006 Europe
    • 2012 Europe
    • 2025 USA
