    "She says she was scared and had to come inside the gates to carry out the checks for Ebola. The police once again used tasers and cattle prods to stop the fighting.

    In his latest BBC Sport column, Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Matt Bloomfield takes issue with the notion that a manager could ever "lose a dressing room".

    He writes: "I can categorically say that I have never known, or heard, about a situation where a squad of players would deliberately not try their best to win games for a manager.

    "I have never experienced players getting together and saying they need to get a manager out, just because they would have a better chance of success under a new one.

    "How would a player know who the new manager would be? How would they know whether a new manager would want them to be part of his plans?"

    Formula 1's long-awaited return to South Africa has taken a step closer to coming to fruition.

    F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone confirmed last month he was "in the middle of trying to do something in South Africa", with the race last on the calendar in 1993.

    In an interview with PA today, Ecclestone added: "I've been looking to go back to South Africa for a long time, and now we have a good chance.

    "They're getting on with it. We're hoping to be back in 2016, but we will have a look and see. We'll see how we get on."

    Australia's National Rugby League has apologised after asking players for their favourite swear words in profiles pieces on its official website.

    New Zealand star Shaun Johnson, Newcastle Knights skipper Kurt Gidley and Brisbane Broncos forward Sam Thaiday were among those asked. The profiles have been removed from the NRL website.

    "This question was inappropriate, and the responses should not have been published," read a statement.

    "We accept responsibility and removed the articles yesterday. Signed - NRL.com Editorial Team."

    Rafael Nadal has been pegged back by American Tim Smyczek. After racing through the first set in routine fashion 6-2, Nadal lost the second set 6-3 and has just been broken at the start of the third set.

    The Spaniard may be feeling the effects of his long injury lay-off at the back end of last year, and now faces an uphill task to stay in the tournament.
