The deadline-day deals just keep on coming in the Football League - Terry Gornell has joined Accrington on an 18-month contract after leaving Cheltenham earlier in the day.

The 25-year-old striker is back for his third spell at Stanley.

Luton Town have signed Tottenham's England Under-18 striker Nathan Oduwa on loan until the end of the season.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Manchester United defender Marnick Vermijl for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 23-year-old Belgian made two first-team appearances for the Premier League side - both in the League Cup.

French Ligue 1

BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett: "The big clubs in France have been very quiet today which is surprising when you consider that the title race is so close. Lyon are two points clear of Marseille and PSG.

"One of the top 3 who will complete a deal tonight is Marseille. Marcelo Bielsa's side should sign Monaco's 20 year-old Argentine midfielder Lucas Ocampos on loan.

"He was tipped for big things when he was at River Plate and now he'll be hoping to help Marseille to their first Ligue 1 title since 2010."

I told you things would liven up... Chesterfield have added two players on loan for a month - Birmingham midfielder Mark Duffy and Wolves defender Ashley Carter have both joined the League One club.

Mind you, if things do not pick up soon I don't think many of us will still be awake at 23:00 GMT to check whether deals for Juan Cuadrado (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Stoke) and Darren Fletcher (anyone) go through before the English window shuts.

With the German transfer window closing in approximately 21 minutes, now seems a good time to look at how long clubs across Europe have to complete any deals... assuming of course there is some transfer activity going on elsewhere (there is not much in the UK at present).

Window shuts at 17:00 GMT: Germany

Window shuts at 22:00 GMT: Italy , Greece

Window shuts at 23:00 GMT: England, France, Austria, the Netherlands

Window shuts at 00:00 GMT: Scotland

Clubs in Russia will be able to buy players until the end of February, while Portuguese clubs have until 17:00 GMT Wednesday. For Spanish clubs, it is already too late - the window is already closed there.

BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett: "Transfer deals fail for all sorts of reasons during the transfer window but few can be as serious as the case of Austrian international striker Philip Hosiner.

"He was due to join Bundesliga side FC Koln from the French club Rennes but failed a medical and today, on his Facebook page he's been explaining why., external

"Hosiner says it was down to "a major problem with one of my kidneys" and says he will "undergo further investigations in the next few days".

"Hosiner made his name at Austria Vienna, scoring 32 goals in the 2012/2013 season."

Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis has been heavily linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium today - with West Ham and Crystal Palace among the clubs supposedly interested - but the big French international is staying put.

Hartlepool have signed Black Cats centre-back Scott Harrison on a permanent deal. The 21-year-old has already had two loan spells with the League Two side this season, making 18 appearances for Pools.
