    Preston manager Simon Grayson has revealed his squad was "devastated" after their loss at Colchester cost them promotion to the Championship.

    Sitting second on the final day of the season, the Lilywhites defeat allowed MK Dons to finish second in League One.

    They now face Chesterfield over two legs in the play-off semi-final, away on Thursday and at Deepdale on Sunday.

    "The dressing room is devastated, we're all devastated as staff and the supporters will be," Grayson, 45, said.

    Sheffield Wednesday have released 11 players, including defender Lewis Buxton.

    The 31-year-old joined the Hillsborough side from Stoke City in January 2009 after a successful loan spell and made 181 league appearances.

    Also going are Giles Coke, Paul Corry, Rafa Floro, Dejan Kelhar, Gary Madine, Joe Mattock, Jacques Maghoma, Rhys McCabe, Matt Young and Kamil Zayatte.

    The Owls finished 13th in the Championship this season.

    An unbroken eight-wicket stand of 56 between Peter Siddle (61) and Tom Bailey (32) appears likely to earn Lancashire a first-innings lead on day three against Northants at Wantage Road.

    They came together when Ashwell Prince was finally dismissed by Steven Crook for 153, an innings lasting just over five hours and containing 21 fours.

    The pair saw Lancashire to 377-7 at the interval, just eight runs in arrears, but with only four sessions left in the game, a draw appears the most likely result.

    Chelsea midfielder Oscar has suffered a training ground injury which has ruled him out of this summer's Copa America in Chile, Brazil coach Dunga says.

    "Oscar got an injury in his last training session with Chelsea, we spoke with (Chelsea manager Jose) Mourinho and the doctor at Chelsea and his recuperation will take time and he won't be at his best during the Copa America," Dunga added.

    "After the Copa America we have the World Cup qualifiers, and we thought it best for him to be ready for the qualifiers."

    Chelsea will face Notts County in the first women's Cup final at Wembley following their 1-0 semi-final win over City, but Houghton said there were plenty of positives for her side.

    "I think we grew as the game went on," Houghton told BBC Sport. "In the second half we probably limited them to just the chance that they scored from. If you look at our performance, I think we were the better team."

    Laura Robson has further delayed her comeback from a wrist injury, and will miss this month's French Open at Roland Garros.

    The former British number 1 has not played since January of last year, but is understood to be exploring the possibility of returning in one of the British grass court events before Wimbledon.

    Huddersfield have offered new deals to midfielders Duane Holmes and Oscar Gobern and striker Ishmael Miller. Gobern, 24, joined Town from Southampton in June 2011 and played 11 times in 2014-15, while Miller, 28, scored three goals in 15 games after joining from Blackpool in February.

    Holmes, 20, only made one appearance for the Terriers this season. The Championship club have released Anthony Gerrard, Jonathan Stead, Martin Paterson, Jake Carroll and Daniel Carr.
