    Leicestershire are on course for a first-innings lead after reducing Kent to 262-8 by the lunch interval at Canterbury.

    Joe Denly (87) and Sam Northeast (84) extended their overnight partnership to 139 but both were dismissed in the space of nine overs.

    Australian paceman Clint McKay, who took two wickets in the final session of day two, then dismissed Darren Stevens (23) and Matt Coles for figures of 4-52.

    Pace bowler Liam Norwell took 6-33 as Essex were bowled out for 199 on the third morning at Chelmsford, leaving Gloucestershire to score only 114 for victory.

    The 23-year-old added the wickets of James Foster, Greg Smith and Jamie Porter to the three he took on day two for match figures of 10-65.

    Kishen Velani top-scored with 58 for Essex, but only two other batsmen passed 20 in the innings.

    Lionel Messi believes former Barca boss Pep Guardiola will not leave anything to chance when he takes his Bayern Munich side to the Camp Nou for the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

    However, despite winning 14 trophies in a stunning four-year spell in charge of Barca between 2008 and 2012, Messi doesn't think Guardiola's inside knowledge will be a big advantage.

    "He was with us for a long time and we had the luck to win many titles. He is a coach that studies everything," said the Argentine at a press conference ahead of the game.

    "It is the same for both sides. Pep knows us very well and we know what he asks of his players. It is 50-50, we both know each other very well."

    Everton's 19-year-old defender Gethin Jones has extended his loan at Plymouth Argyle ahead of the League Two play-offs. The Wales Under-21 international Gethin Jones moved to Home Park in March and has played six times for the Pilgrims.

    He was due to return to Goodison Park at the end of the regular season but is now free to feature in Plymouth's play-off campaign.

    John Sheridan's side, who finished seventh in the table, face Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off semi-finals, with the first leg at Home Park on 9 May.

    Some news to make Jose Mourinho smile...the Chelsea manager is set to be rewarded for the club's title success with a two‑year contract extension, reports the London Evening Standard., external

    The 52-year-old's agreement runs until 2017 but it is understood the Blues are in advanced talks to prolong his stay at Stamford Bridge.

    According to the report, Mourinho is already the highest paid manager in the Premier League on around £8.5m per season and the new agreement is believed to include an increase which could yet make him the game's top earning manager.

    Meanwhile, Keighley's League 1 game against Coventry on Sunday will go ahead at the request of the family of Danny Jones.

    The fixture had been in doubt following the sudden death of Jones, who suffered a suspected cardiac arrest during last Sunday's match at London Skolars.

    Chairman Gary Fawcett said: "I can confirm that our head coach, Paul March, has confirmed that Danny's family have requested for the game to go ahead this Sunday.

    "I know that our players are hurting but they will do Danny proud on Sunday."

    Former Wales rugby league captain Lee Briers has spoken of his "shock" and "devastation" at the death of former international team-mate Danny Jones.

    Keighley Cougars player Jones, 29 (pictured below), died of a suspected cardiac arrest after collapsing in a League 1 game at London Skolars on Sunday.

    Briers says he has been "inundated" by messages from other former Wales colleagues over Jones' death.
