    After Stephen Gallacher pulled out of the PGA Championship before the start of the opening round, we have news of another withdrawal at Wentworth.

    Three-time major champion Padraig Harrington's round lasted just two holes before being forced to withdraw with a shoulder injury, meaning the Irishman is a doubt for next week's Irish Open.

    Britain's Carl Froch could fight middleweight king Gennady Golovkin rather than retire, according to Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn.

    Froch was recently stripped of his WBA super-middleweight belt and was thought to be close to ending his career.

    But Hearn said the 37-year-old is tempted by the prospect of one last big-money fight at Wembley Stadium.

    Mercedes team director Niki Lauda says world champion Lewis Hamilton deserves all the money he earns from his new three-year contract which could be worth up to £27m a year.

    "The world champions like Vettel, Alonso and Lewis all deserve roughly the same," says the Austrian three-time world champion.

    "They work for the money and they earn it. When you see how they drive and what they achieve, how Lewis has been driving, it is really something."

    Davies was caught off Steven Crook for 44, ending a partnership of 94 with Kumar Sangakkara and causing his Championship average for the season to plummet to 116.75.

    Sangakkara has a century in his sights on 75 not out at lunch, with Jason Roy unbeaten on 42.

    Xavi has announced he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season and join Qatari side Al Sadd.

    The 35-year-old has won 23 trophies in 17 seasons at the Nou Camp including three Champions Leagues and eight La Liga titles.

    The Spanish midfielder has also won the World Cup and two European Championships.

    "Footballer of the Year Eden Hazard has had emergency dental surgery and will be unable to collect his award in person tonight.

    "Hazard tried to delay the surgery but had to have three wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday and is still in considerable pain.

    "Previous winner Gianfranco Zola will pay tribute to Hazard and Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck will deliver a message from the player. Hazard will almost certainly miss Chelsea's final game against Sunderland - the first Premier League game he will have missed this season."

    Spanish pair Jorge Campillo and Miguel Angel Jimenez and England's Chris Wood are all in the clubhouse on four under while Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts is also on four under with two holes of his round left to play.

    Defending champion and world number one Rory McIlroy has moved onto one under with one to play.
