    England manager Roy Hodgson has named three newcomers in his squad for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia next month.

    Coming up at around 12:30 BST, we'll be hearing from England manager Roy Hodgson as he names his squad for the upcoming friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Sunday 7 June and the Euro 2016 qualifier away to Slovenia seven days later.

    We are expecting some new faces in the squad with plenty of chat around QPR's uncapped striker Charlie Austin who has scored 17 goals for his club this season.

    Frenchman Romain Grosjean has been given a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix after Lotus changed his gearbox following the Spanish race earlier this month.

    Grosjean finished eighth in Spain, but drove the final part of the race without fourth gear.

    Britain's Brydan Klein has lost in the second round of French Open qualifying as he was beaten 6-3 6-1 by Argentina's Facundo Arguello.

    The Australia-born 25-year-old, ranked 195, has never reached the main draw at Roland Garros and struggled to find his rhythm against 139-ranked Arguello, who is a clay-court specialist and dominated throughout.

    "It was disappointing but I'm playing a player close to the top 100 who has grown up on clay courts in Argentina," Klein said.

    "I tried to mix it up but I wasn't completely feeling the ball. I just didn't find the corners or angles enough to give myself a decent chance."

    The player's representative Aidy Ward has also spoken out against Liverpool and the club's former players who have criticised his client for turning down £100,000-a-week deal to stay at Anfield.

    "I don't care about the PR of the club and the club situation. I don't care.

    "He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.

    "My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter."

    As the first Test gets under way at Lord's, Middlesex batsman Nick Compton is determined to convince England's selectors to give him a recall.

    The 31-year-old, who won the last of his nine Test caps against New Zealand two years ago, scored his first Championship century of the summer in the county's draw with Hampshire.

    He told BBC London 94.9: "The fire still burns bright. I feel I am the right man for the job and want to prove to the selectors and everyone else out there that I can do a great job this summer."

    It is seven years since Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties to win the Champions League but 21 May 2008 isn't a date Terry will look back fondly on.

    The Chelsea captain slipped taking the penalty that would have won the cup but his shot struck the post. The shoot-out went to sudden death where Edwin Van der Sar saved Nicolas Anelka's penalty to win it for United for the third time in their history.

    Preston midfielder John Welsh has vowed not to tempt fate by shaving his beard off before the League One play-off final against Swindon.

    Last season, the 31-year-old shaved his beard before their two-leg semi-final against Rotherham, which they lost 4-2 on aggregate.

    "I shaved it last year against Rotherham and obviously what happened, happened," he said. "It's bugging me now really, it's doing my head in at the minute, but it's got to stay until we get promoted."
