    Watford have signed Austria international Sebastian Prodl on a five-year contract.

    The 6ft 4ins centre-back, 27, was a free agent following his release by German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

    He is Watford's first signing since clinching promotion to the Premier League.

    Rangers have criticised Bilel Mohsni for his Motherwell meltdown - but admit they are now powerless to punish him.

    The Tunisia international sparked a mass brawl following the full-time whistle at the Scottish Premiership play-off final at Fir Park when he kicked and punched Motherwell's Lee Erwin.

    But the 27-year-old is out of contract and Rangers, in a statement, said: In a statement, the Glasgow outfit said: "We will co-operate fully with investigations following the disgraceful scenes at the Motherwell game yesterday.

    "Bilel Mohsni's behaviour was completely unacceptable and had his contract not now expired, the club would have started disciplinary proceedings."

    Gloucester captain Billy Twelvetrees says he is proud of his team, despite a late drop goal denying them a spot in next season's European Champions Cup.

    Bordeaux-Begles won their qualification play-off 23-22 on Sunday, with Pierre Bernard's kick separating the sides.

    "It's a very disappointing way to end the season." centre Twelvetrees, 26, told BBC Radio Gloucestershire. "As a group of players we've come a long way this season and are proud of what we have done. It's tough to take but we will come back stronger next season."

    Roger Federer says he is "pumped" - which is young person's speak for happy we think - to seal a place in the French Open quarter-finals.

    After completing a comfortable win over Gael Monfils - the Swiss master winning 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-1 - Federer will next meet compatriot and Davis Cup team-mate Stan Wawrinka.

    "I'm pumped up to be in the quarter-finals again, said Federer, after wrapping up victory on Monday.

    "At this stage it's about progressing in the tournament," added Federer, after securing an 11th Roland Garros quarter-final. "What's important right now is that I am physically fresh for the back end of the tournament."

    After all it was the Uruguayan who took a bite out of the Italian defender in the World Cup, earning the Barcelona striker a four-month ban.

    Now the pair will meet for the first time since that infamous incident in the Champions League final as Chiellini's Juventus face Barcelona, but there will be no hard feelings from the Italian.

    "Of course I will (shake hands). I'll hug him happily, too, there's no problem at all. Those who know me even a bit know that that's how I truly feel."

    The world number one and top seed Serena Williams lost the first set 6-1 in just 26 minutes.
