    Midfield lynchpin Yaya Toure has cooled speculation surrounding his future at Manchester City, the Ivorian saying he will "definitely stay" because he wants to win more silverware at the Premier League club.

    The 32-year-old Toure, who joined City in 2010 and played a dominant role in two Premier League title wins in 2012 and 2014, endured a frustrating season after suffering a loss of form as City failed to claim any trophies.

    "I will definitely stay. The fans don't have to be worried," Toure told the Manchester Evening News, external.

    "My target this year is to try to do everything possible to make this team improve well."

    And in case you missed that news about Alberto Contador's success in the Giro d'Italia, the Spaniard won by one minute and 53 seconds from Italy's Fabio Aru, 24.

    Contador will now try to become the first man since 1998 to win the Tour de France in the same year..

    "It's been a beautiful Giro, and a very special experience," said the 32-year-ld.

    Sunday's 178km finale was expected to end in a bunch sprint but Belgium's Iljo Keisse won after a late break.

    The pair have had some lengthy battles in the past and it was always likely to be a big test for two-time champion Sharapova, who's made the last three finals at Roland Garros.

    Patrick Vieira and Steve McClaren are among the names on Newcastle's four-man managerial shortlist with the club hopeful of making an appointment in the next fortnight.

    The interview process will begin this week with Vieria, manager of Manchester City's elite development squad, keen to test himself in the Premier League. His lack of top-flight managerial experience may count against him, however. Frenchman Remi Garde is understood to be another candidate.

    Newcastle have been without a permanent head coach since Alan Pardew joined Crystal Palace at the turn of the year. Caretaker manager John Carver, previously Pardew's assistant, is expected to be retained by the club in some capacity.

    Fraser Fyvie has signed a new two-year contract with Hibernian, the Easter Road club have confirmed.

    The 22-year-old midfielder moved to Hibs from Wigan in January after signing a deal until the end of the 2014/15 season and made 17 appearances, scoring twice.
