    The Sun, external: France World Cup winner Patrick Vieira, 38, is to be interviewed for the Newcastle manager's job. The former Arsenal and France midfielder is at the end of his deal as Manchester City's under-21 coach.

    John Musgrove: Tony Adams dropping team mate Steve Morrow over his shoulder and breaking his collar bone.

    So, Morrow scored the winner for Arsenal in the 1992-93 League Cup final against Sheffield Wednesday. But in the after-match celebrations Adams got a bit carried away by picking up, and then dropping Morrow.

    While the Arsenal players collected their medals and celebrated, Morrow was taken to hospital.

    It is a new era at Derby County, with the club appointing former Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement as their new head coach on a three-year deal.

    He replaces Steve McClaren, who was sacked last month after the club finished eighth in the Championship.

    On the face of it, it seems a decent appointment, for Clement has worked with some of the biggest names in world football including Didier Drogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.

    It is the first managerial role for Englishman Clement, 43, who left the La Liga side following the sacking of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

    "Paul is one of the most in-demand coaches in world football and I am delighted," said Rams chief executive Sam Rush.

    Leicestershire will resume on 28-0, having seized the initiative on the opening day at Chelsmford by bowling out Essex for just 166, with all-rounder Ben Raine claiming 5-48.

    Gloucestershire batsman Michael Klinger needs just seven more runs to reach a century in their away game against Derbyshire, with their total on 251-6 overnight.

    Surrey need to rebuild after closing on 145-4 following the dismissal of Kevin Pietersen for two against Lancashire at the Oval, while Northants are 0-0 in reply to Glamorgan's 371 all out at Cardiff, which featured Craig Meschede's 107 off 109 balls.

    Jonathan Trott and Laurie Evans will look to continue their unbroken 92-run partnership when Warwickshire resume on 148-3 against Middlesex at Lord's.

    Worcestershire are in a good position at the Ageas Bowl, having reduced Hampshire to 119-4 in the 51 overs of play possible on the opening day.

    Notts will be without pace bowler Vernon Philander, who has been recalled home by South Africa, as they start a home match against Sussex at Trent Bridge. The visitors have England's Chris Jordan (pictured) in their side after he was not picked for the second Test against New Zealand.

    Bilel Mohsni's career in British football is "over" following his incredible Fir Park bust-up, the Rangers defender's agent has admitted.

    The Tunisia international sparked on mass brawl at full-time in the Scottish Premiership play-off final when he kicked and punched Motherwell's Lee Erwin.

    The 27-year-old is out of contract and Rangers boss Stuart McCall confirmed he would be kicked out of Ibrox following his shock assault.

    "Do I worry that this will put other clubs off taking a chance on him? The clubs in the UK, yes. Abroad is a bit different but his reputation in the UK has been altered now," Mohsni's agent told Press Association sport.

    Clermont Auvergne have confirmed the signing of England winger David Strettle from Saracens on a three-year deal.

    The 31-year-old helped Sarris to the Premiership title on Saturday as they beat Bath 28-16.

    Strettle was recently recalled to the England squad by head coach Stuart Lancaster, but will be ineligible to play for his country once he moves across the Channel.

    Mind you, that's hardly a surprise: because they get so little energy from their diet - which consists mainly of eucalypt leaves - koalas must limit their energy use and sleep 20 hours a day.

    "If New Zealand do win this match, no-one will begrudge them a share of the series, because they are a team that are very easy to like.

    An unbeaten BJ Watling hundred left New Zealand in a strong position at Headingley, with England facing a huge task to win the second Test.

    Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum also made half-centuries as the Black Caps closed day three on 338-6, a lead of 338.

    That represented a fightback from 23-2, aided by England dropping three catches.

    England were earlier taken to 350 all out by a rapid 46 from Stuart Broad, as the first-innings scores ended level.

    More on the news that Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen has been hired by Brentford to replace departed head coach Mark Warburton.

    Dijkhuizen, whose experience of British football extends to a 10-game loan spell at Dunfermline as a player in 2000-01, told the Championship club's website:, external "I have been to Brentford once before, with my father and brother, to see a game against Coventry City in March 2014.

    "We stood on the terrace behind the goal and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of football. There was some very good play.

    "We also loved the ambiance in and around the stadium. That is football at its best. I am looking forward to working with everyone at the club for a bright future."

    Soren Kjeldsen recovered from a final-round collapse at the Irish Open to secure his fourth European Tour success at the first play-off hole - and then celebrate under a very nice rainbow.

    Dane Kjeldsen (76), England's Eddie Pepperell (69) and Austrian Bernd Wiesberger (73) all finished two under.

    The trio then played the par-five 18th at Royal County Down, with Kjeldsen recording a birdie to clinch victory.

    A sell-out crowd of 20,000 attended the event for the fourth consecutive day, despite several of the world's leading stars failing to shine, including Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia, who both missed the cut.

    Rafael Benitez is on his way to Spain to begin life as Real Madrid boss.

    According to as.com, external, Benítez told reporters "I am ready, I can't wait to be there", as he departed the Marina di Castelo hotel next to Napoli's training facilities, which has been his home for the past two years.

    Benítez's arrival is scheduled for 11.30pm (BST) and - according to the website - once in Spain, the former Liverpool manager will finalise his new contract before the announcement of his arrival at Real Madrid and his presentation takes place on Wednesday.

    The Russian club, managed by former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas, won their domestic league with two games to spare last weekend and celebrated by dressing in traditional Russian clothing.
