    J Martin 467: I was a very sporty girl and remember many bad puberty experiences: when/whether to start shaving legs/underarms; suddenly having breasts in tight-fitting kit and feeling very self-conscious (and hearing inappropriate comments); learning to anticipate periods so that I was 'prepared'.

    Seasider: Isn't this part of a bigger problem - girls who are sporty/outdoorsy are labelled "tomboys" and belittled? Consider the rubbishing of lady footballers. Also a problem in gymnastics and athletics where powerful or muscular girls are at risk of being considered "fat".

    Ipswich Town midfielder Teddy Bishop has been fined £3,000 and warned about his future conduct after a breach of Football Association betting rules.

    Betting on football is prohibited for "all those involved in the game" according to the FA's code of conduct., external

    Bishop, 18, admitted to multiple breaches of rule E8 in relation to betting and his fine includes any financial gain from the bets laid. The bets that brought about the charge were not on Ipswich matches.

    The Women's World Cup can restore football's credibility after a week of scandal at Fifa, say organisers.

    Hosts Canada kick off the event against China on Saturday, four days after Fifa president Sepp Blatter said he would resign amid corruption allegations.

    Canadian Soccer Association's Victor Montagliani says: "Women's football is a pure form of football. It can shine light onto the dark clouds hanging over the game, which has lost some of its moral compass."

    Everton will sign Tom Cleverley on a five-year deal when his contract expires at Manchester United on 1 July.

    The 25-year-old England midfielder will become Roberto Martinez's first signing of the summer.

    Cleverley made 38 Premier League appearances last season, 37 of those during a season-long loan for Aston Villa.

    David Gill has ruled himself out as a candidate for the Fifa presidency, according to Press Association Sport.

    Gill, the 57-year-old British Fifa vice-president, had been viewed as one of the potential successors to Sepp Blatter, who announced this week he would be stepping down.

    However, he has told colleagues at Uefa and the Football Association that he will not stand to be the next leader of the global organisation.

    Barcelona's news conference previewing Saturday's Champions League final is under way and speaking to the gathered media is Neymar.

    "Gianluigi Buffon is one of the best ever. I'm a big fan - but I would love to score past him tomorrow," he says.

    "It's the most important match of my life. It's been my dream since I was a child. I have dreamt of the moment of scoring a goal in the final but the most important thing is to be champions."

    Jersey are all set to compete in the qualifying tournament for next year's ICC World Twenty20 finals after naming their squad.

    The island nation, population 99,000, not only face joint hosts Ireland, who nearly reached the quarter-finals of the last tournament, but also vastly bigger countries like the USA (population 320m) and Nepal (27m).

    Coach Neil McRae said: "We're a young side which is improving rapidly and we aim to play our top level of cricket in each game and qualify for the second week of the tournament."

    Lewin Nyatanga has won 34 caps for Wales

    Barnsley defender Lewin Nyatanga has signed a new two-year deal at the club.

    The 26-year-old Wales international joined the Tykes from Bristol City in July 2013 and has made 57 league appearances for the League One outfit.

    He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm happy here. I know the staff and I know how good they are. We've got great fans and I enjoy living in the area so all of those things combined made my decision pretty straightforward."

    Liverpool have frozen general admission matchday ticket prices for the 2015-16 season.

    The Reds have been working with a ticketing working group made up of Liverpool supporters' organisations. The BBC's Price of Football survey 2014 found Liverpool's cheapest ticket for a home game was £37, compared to the Premier League average of £28.80.

    "We're pleased the club has listened to our concerns about ticket prices," says working group member Bob Humphries.
