    More on the tragic death of former All Black Jerry Collins in a car crash in France, which also claimed the life of his wife Alana Madill.

    The 34-year-old started his career at Wellington in the National Provincial Championship and also played for the city's Super Rugby outfit Hurricanes.

    Renowned for his bleach-blonde hair and tough tackling, he made his All Blacks debut against Argentina in Christchurch in 2001. He captained the side three times and played for New Zealand at the 2003 and 2007 World Cups.

    His last match for the All Blacks was the 2007 World Cup quarter-final loss to France in Cardiff.

    Following Dick Advocaat's decision to change his mind and stay as Sunderland manager for another year, Black Cats fans are clubbing together to thank his wife.

    A flower fund, external has been set-up "to give Mrs Advocaat a big thank you for giving us another year of the Little General". So far £1,775 has been raised.

    More on the tragic death of former All Black Jerry Collins and his wife Alana in a car crash in France. Reports in France say a bus was in collision with their car, and that their two-month-old daughter survived but is in a serious condition.

    Radio New Zealand news editor Tony Vale tells BBC Radio 5 live that Collins, 34, had joined French second-tier side Narbonne in January.

    "I spoke with Rocky Elsom, the Australian manager of Narbonne, and he was clearly still in shock at the news," says Vale. "I also spoke to the club president, Anthony Hill, and he told me that they were still trying to come to terms with the news. He said Collins basically saved the club."

    American Justin Gatlin beat Usain Bolt's Rome Diamond League record with a superb performance in the 100m. The 33-year-old surged clear of the field to win in 9.75 seconds - the seventh-fastest time in history - eclipsing Bolt's 9.76 set in 2012.

    Gatlin, who has served two doping bans, ran a 9.74 in the opening Diamond League meeting of the year last month.

    Olympic champion Sally Pearson suffered a wrist injury as a result of a fall in the women's 100m hurdles.

    The Football League wants clubs to interview one black minority ethnic (BME) candidate for each head coach or manager role from the 2016-17 season. The plans, which League clubs have backed, will see a version of American football's 'Rooney Rule' piloted.

    Only four black managers are currently employed at the 72 League clubs.

    "It is important we take the lead in this area as our clubs will provide the majority of employment opportunities," said League chairman Greg Clarke.
