League Cup, North London derbypublished at 18:10

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

Ahead of this evening's match, here are some stats and facts you can memorise and then drop into conversation during the match to impress your peers...

    • There have been 12 meetings between the north London rivals in the League Cup, including four semi-finals.
    • The most recent League Cup meeting was in the third round in 2010/11 at White Hart Lane. Arsenal won the game 4-1 after extra time.
    • Spurs have been eliminated by Premier League opposition in the previous nine years (excluding 2008 when they won the competition).
    • Last season's third-round defeat to Southampton was Arsenal's earliest League Cup exit since November 2002, when they lost 3-2 to Sunderland at the same stage.

...If your peers are impressed by any of that, they are very easily impressed...

German football best "value for money" for fanspublished at 18:02

    Football

No surprise here really but it's a fact....

The Premier League has been ranked fourth for giving football fans value for money while Germany's Bundesliga offers the best quality game for the price, according to a new index.

Part of the reason for the Premier League's ranking compared with the Bundesliga are their respective ticket prices, according to the GoEuro Football Price Index.

England took top spot for the most expensive country to go to a match, with Premier League tickets costing an average of £53.76 a ticket, closely followed by Spain where tickets cost an average of £50.83, and the second-highest average cost for a travelling fan.

Germany's average ticket price is just £23.02, according to the index.

    Corrie v 70,000 football fans...?published at 17:52

    Football

There are slight concerns that tonight's live episode of Coronation Street may be inturrupted by noises coming from the Capital One Cup match at Old Trafford which is only 0.7 miles away.

Manchester United v Ipswich kicks off at 20:00 BST.

If you are going to the match later, whatever you do, DON'T start singing the Eastenders theme tune really loud... and DON'T shout "GET OUTTA MY PUB" at full volume...

    That would be awkward.

Earlier, we heard rumours that Carlo Ancelotti had been contacted by Liverpool FC to replace Brendan Rodgers after a poor run of form.

    False alarm...

BBC Sport has now heard there is no truth whatsoever in the suggestion and the club have made no approach to any manager, anywhere, about any possible future vacancy at Anfield.

As you were - carry on Brendan.

Name the only four players to have scored 5 goals in a Premier League game.

    And here are the answers:

Dimitar Berbatov, Andy Cole, Jermain Defoe and Alan Shearer

    • Have a big bear hug if you got all four.
    • Pat on the back for three.
    • Fist bump for two.
    • Low five for one.
    • If you got none, you're getting nothing... Try harder next time....

"I'm happy for people to criticise me but he still doesn't understand who Pogba really is and that maybe he quit (United) at the right time."
