Lewis Key: It's not the sackings that are the problem; it's Cellino hiring terrible managers to begin with.

Andrew Priestley: Five managers sacked in under two years. With that complete lack of job security, who is going to apply for the vacant Leeds post?

Danny Lambert: You can't nurture the academy players and keep changing managers. Why else have Mowatt & Byram gone off the boil?

    Chairman takes chargepublished at 11:23

    Football

Swindon have confirmed that chairman Lee Power has taken "temporary charge" of the club after sacking manager Mark Cooper at the weekend.

The statement, released a few moments ago, reads: "Mark did a fantastic job which culminated in the club reaching the League One play-off final last season.

"Unfortunately, performances and results this term have not been as good as the club had hoped for with the current squad. "The chairman, Lee Power, thought it was time to make a change. Lee will take temporary charge of the team but will definitely not be the club’s next permanent manager."

The fall-out from Scotland's painful World Cup defeat to Australia continues, with Gavin Hastings, for one, fuming about referee Craig Joubert.

Fuming not just about that last-gasp decision to award a penalty against the Scots, but about the official sprinting straight off the field at the end.

"That is the worst thing I have seen on a rugby field in a very long time. He is not prepared to face up to the players, that is not rugby and that is not the spirit of rugby," Hastings said on BBC Radio 5 live. "He should be punished and never allowed to make an international refereeing commitment again."

Uwe Rosler started his Leeds reign with a six-game unbeaten run. Granted, five of those were draws, but it remains as encouraging a start as Leeds have had for quite a while - particularly the 2-1 win at Derby (comprising arguably the best half of football they have managed in years). But that run was ended by a 1-0 home defeat by Ipswich - one of three losses at Elland Road on the bounce.

The 2-1 loss to Brighton on Saturday has done for Rosler - the latest managerial victim of the Massimo Cellino era. You suspect he won't be the last.
