    Leeds sack Rosler

We're still awaiting official confirmation from Leeds that Uwe Rosler has been sacked but BBC West Yorkshire Sport are reporting it as fact.

The question now is who will take over, with former Rotherham manager Steve Evans seemingly the hot favourite.

Evans parted company with the Millers at the end of last month after more than three years at the club.

Rotherham gained successive promotions in Evans's first two seasons in charge, but struggled in the Championship last season, finishing one place above the relegation zone.

    Who should run their sport?

Which leads us on rather nicely to today's talking point.

On the back of Vega's bid, we want to know this:

Which sporting personality would you like to run their sport and why?

Personally I'd go for Eric Cantona and Vinne Jones jointly in charge of football. It would be so much interesting.

Former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega is considering standing as a candidate in the Fifa presidential election.

Football's world governing body has suspended its president Sepp Blatter and vice-president Michel Platini for 90 days amid corruption allegations.

Fifa's executive committee meets on Tuesday to discuss whether to postpone February's presidential election.

"I come without baggage and I have substantial experience from both football and in finance," said Vega, who has worked in finance since retiring from football in 2004.

Investigation into 2006 World Cup bidpublished at 09:05

    Football

German prosecutors say they are examining whether there are grounds to open an investigation of allegations that German bidders used a slush fund to help secure the 2006 World Cup.

Nadja Niesen, a spokeswoman for Frankfurt prosecutors, said fraud, breach of trust or corruption were possible offenses that might be investigated, news agency dpa reported.

German paper Der Spiegel alleged on Friday a slush fund of 10.3 million Swiss francs was set up to buy the votes of four Asian representatives on Fifa's executive committee.

The German football federation vehemently rejects the allegations. Bid committee chief Franz Beckenbauer says he never had money given to anyone to buy votes.

It's a day of the week ending with 'y', which means we've a Fifa story to bring you (it's the law).

Michel Platini, president of European football body Uefa and suspended amid a huge corruption scandal rocking the game, has admitted there was no written contract for remuneration he received from world body Fifa.

Fifa's suspended president Sepp Blatter last week said that a £1.3m payment made to Platini in 2011 was "a gentleman's agreement."

Platini told French daily Le Monde the deal was made "man to man" but that he understood that under Swiss law "an oral contract is worth a written contract".

It was on this day 53 years ago that a man most famous for having a bit of his ear bitten off was born.

Not unlike when one says the name Neil Armstrong you think of the moon, when you mention Holyfield it is that extraordinary moment during his world heavyweight title bout with Mike Tyson that springs to mind.

It happened in June 1997, in Las Vegas, during the third round. Tyson was disqualified, the world recoiled and went 'ooh, that's horrible', and Holyfield, probably, said 'pardon?'

Here's an interesting one. Australian surfer Mick Fanning's battle with a huge great white shark has been spoofed by a fast food company for a new advert in South Africa, sparking criticism from his family.

The 34-year-old three-time world champion made global headlines when he dramatically escaped the shark on live television during a tour event in South Africa.

Talking about the ad, Fanning's mother Elizabeth Osborne told Fairfax Media: "I think it is very disrespectful. It really brings back a lot of trauma for everybody who has been attacked by a shark."

She added that the World Surf League was preparing to take legal action to have the campaign cut short.

Steve McClaren - seen above waiting for an imaginary elevator after pushing the first floor button - was understandably pretty chuffed at a rare victory.

"I am relieved for the supporters and players who have endured a lot," the Magpies boss said.

"We knew a win was around the corner, but we didn't know when it would come. We kept faith with the players and we played some really good football."

Meanwhile Norwich gaffer Alex Neil remarked: "When you concede that many goals it's hard to take positives", which you can't really argue with.

We'll have more on the rugby throughout the day - though it probably won't be pleasant reading - but now to Newcastle, for they deserve a moment in the sun.

Steve McClaren's side, who've struggled so badly this season, suddenly burst into life against an unfortunate Norwich.

Georginio Wijnaldum scored four goals as the Magpies won their first Premier League match of the season in style, 6-2,to move off the bottom of the table.

An electrifying contest saw five goals scored in the space of 20 first-half minutes, although neither defence covered itself in glory.
