New Zealand legend Jonah Lomu fears back-rowers David Pocock and Michael Hooper will give Australia the edge in the breakdown in the World Cup final.

Lomu believes the All Blacks' ability to nullify Australia's two breakdown specialists will determine the outcome.

"If there's any team who can give New Zealand a run for their money it's Australia because they're the only team to beat them this year," said Lomu.

"Australia's speed into the breakdown will give the All Blacks a headache."

On top of being knocked out of the Capital One Cup at Sheffield Wednesday, Arsenal suffered a couple of unwanted injury blows at Hillsborough last night. An update to this is that forward Theo Walcott and midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to miss the club’s next three games.

Early indications are that Walcott’s injury is slightly worse than Oxlade-Chamberlain’s, but both are set to miss Saturday’s trip to Swansea, Wednesday’s game at Bayern Munich and the visit of Tottenham on 8 November.

There is then an international break, when England play friendlies in Spain on 13 November and at home to France four days later.

The Force India team have requested an advance on their 2016 championship money to help tide them through the winter and pay suppliers.

Deputy team principal Bob Fernley told Reuters the request was for a payment similar to the one Force India received from  Bernie Ecclestone before the start of this season

"The only difference between what we did at the beginning of this year and what we are planning for 2016 is just bringing it forward a month or so earlier to cash-flow it better," Fernley said.

David Nakhid’s candidacy for the Fifa presidency has been invalidated due to the fact he only received four valid football association nominations. Candidates require five.

It is understood that one national association nominated both Nakhid and another candidate. Under the election rules that would invalidate the nomination.

Nakhid’s camp are believed to be writing to Domenico Scala today to demand an explanation and receive further clarity as to how and why he has been barred from running.

How do you forget you have already nominated someone?
