Outgoing coach Eddie Jones has warned Japan to pick the right man to succeed him and avoid making the same mistake as the Rugby Football Union (RFU), who put "rookie coach" Stuart Lancaster in charge of England.

Jones, who guided Japan to a stunning World Cup triumph over South Africa, said: "You know, England pick a rookie coach to coach a home team at a World Cup. When you're a home team, the pressure on that coach is enormous.

"Every union that's successful, every national team that's successful, has a guy that's experienced, has a guy that understands rugby.

"The non-negotiables are simple and the unions that falter are the unions that don't follow those non-negotiables like England."

When have you enjoyed sporting success despite injury?

Andrew Neil: Broke my personal best, and in the process winning the tournament, at my golf club while suffering from an ACL injury.

Dan J Pinchy: Broke two toes at work and then played two 90-minute games of football the same evening and scored in each. Then off for three weeks.

Richard Finch: Broke wrist playing for new regiment (1973); week later (in plaster) ran x-country, would have won but for wrong turning.

That's the end from Chelsea and John Terry.

A very defiant skipper and manager.

Worth keeping an eye on Robbie Savage's Twitter feed this afternoon perhaps....

Final few questions for Chelsea skipper John Terry:

"The pressures are going to be there always and they get bigger and bigger. I was supposed to see Frank Lampard after the game at the weekend but I didn't because I didn't want to see anyone I was so disappointed.

"We are where we are. I have come under criticism from players I have looked up to and take it on the chin. Rio, Gary Neville etc. When certain other people speak, maybe I don't listen from players who have played at a really bad level, who haven't had a career.

"Robbie Savage being one. He has dug me out a couple of times. I take it from the very best, other people no."

    Ouch.

John Terry is still going and remains thoroughly defiant and defensive of Jose Mourinho...

"He protects us. We need to be better, he has protected us and protected us. We are talking about the best manager in a long time at this football club and Eden Hazard being the best player.

"There is talk about them leaving and for me they have to be here and in the Premier League. We have to get behind the best people in the Premier League and make this the best league in the world.

"In all aspects he is by far, a long, long way, the best manager I have worked with. We are going to turn this round. He will be in charge for the rest of the season and long after I have finished because he is the best man to take the club forward."

"It has been difficult," said John Terry. "I can be better personally for sure. I need to be back up to where I was last season.

"I am prepared to front you guys because I am sure we are going to get out of this.

"For managers whether you are winning or losing, they have to face you. If you want managers to speak openly, without being fined, or we will get boring answers.

"The fans want to hear passionate answers. He cares for the football club, he gets punished, and it is unfair. If you guys want honest answers, give them a bit of freedom."

More from Chelsea skipper John Terry: "He [Mourinho] is under pressure because of the way we are performing. Collectively we know we need to be better for him.

"It is unfair he takes the criticism. We are prepared to fight and anyone who has been at the games can see that.

"In my whole career, I have never heard a player say he would rather lose than win for a manager. It is ridiculous I have to talk about it. It hurts because people are fighting.

"Us feeling like we have let the fans, the manager, down."

John Terry said: "The manager's work comes for me pre-season. Even if the manager wanted to do tactical work, that tactical work has been done. We know where we need to be.

"The manager is very demanding, he wants players to win, he takes a lot of the responsibility on his own shoulders. He is devastated when we don't win Collectively we will bounce back and climb up the league table."

More from John Terry said: "We are a dressing room that stays together, we have seen the last two or three days of ridiculous stories. I can assure the players are 100% behind the manager.

"We are together, anyone who has been at the last four of five games can see we have been extremely unlucky. We will turn thngs around. We stay together."

Chelsea captain John Terry is now speaking...

"There are a lot of collective things put together. I think the players will say we've not been good enough. We realise where we are and what we need to do to get out of it and that responsibility lies with us and not the manager."

That's that from a typically prickly Jose. The main messages...

    • The players are still with him
    • He isn't feeling very talkative
    • He is confident results will improve
    • He isn't very happy with a lot of people.

That just about sums it all up. Next up, his captain, John Terry...

    A football question...

Will you qualify for the Champions League knockout stages?

Jose Mourinho said: "I think Chelsea will finish first in the group, I am completely convinced we are going to qualify. The reality is the game is not even one we have to win because a draw and two victories after mean we will qualify."

    "No," Jose Mourinho answers.

We're no experts, but we're pretty sure Jose isn't enjoying this.

A little anecdote from Jose Mourinho now...

"Yesterday a friend sent me some quotes from a news conference after the Champions League final in May 2004 and I completely forgot it," he says.

"Back then I said that one day in my career bad results will come and I said that in 2004 after winning the Champions League final with Porto.

"I will face the bad results with the same honesty and dignity that I am facing now. May 2004 I said that. So 11 years later I resisted well to the nature of my job, to the nature of football... 11 years waiting for this.

"It took time but this is the moment I am stable and strong to face it."

    Why aren't results turning around?

Jose Mourinho: "I told you already, it is a combination of factors. One reason would be easy to fix, it is not one reason.

Do you need to show more dignity, asks BBC sports editor Dan Roan?

"This moment the way I am going to show my dignity is not to answer you."
