Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren is facing up to yet another setback after it emerged that skipper Fabricio Coloccini could be facing a spell on the sidelines.

It is understood that the 34-year-old defender picked up a calf problem during the warm-down after a 2-1 friendly victory over Norwegian side Lillestrom in La Manga at the weekend.

Coloccini had not played in the game, with January signing Jonjo Shelvey wearing the armband in his place, and with speculation suggesting he could be out of action for up to a month, McClaren's meagre defensive resources appear to have been further depleted.

Yannick Bolasie has revealed his desire to reach the FA Cup final with Crystal Palace is inspired by the heartache he felt at missing their last appearance at Wembley.

Palace earned promotion to the Premier League at the national stadium in the 2013 Championship play-off final, but Bolasie was an unused substitute.

"I didn't get a chance to play, that's one of the things that hurt me the most," said the 26-year-old winger, who helped Palace win 1-0 at Tottenham in the fifth round on Sunday.

"But it also pushed me on. Hopefully we can make it there this time."

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has accused London Irish of deliberately blocking ball children from doing their job in Sunday's Premiership match. 

The Devon side fought back to beat the Exiles 22-15 at the Madejski Stadium.

 "You've got some fat, bald bloke walking up and down the touchline physically stopping young ball-people from putting the ball to the Exeter hooker," Baxter told BBC Radio Devon. "For me you shouldn't really be putting young people in that kind of scenario."

BBC Sport contacted London Irish, but the club declined to comment.

Lazio insist comments attributed to club president Claudio Lotito concerning the possible sale of Felipe Anderson to Manchester United are "devoid of any foundation".

Reports in Italy claimed Lotito had been overheard saying he had agreed to sell the 22-year-old Brazilian playmaker to United for £46.8m, but the Serie A side have dismissed the rumours.

A statement published on Lazio's official website read: "In reference to statements attributed to president Claudio Lotito regarding the alleged sale of Felipe Anderson, Lazio can confirm they are devoid of any foundation."

Speaking of punishment for coin throwing, the results of our vote are in.

We asked "What punishment should teams get for fans throwing coins?"

And 31% of you said there should be no punishment, followed closely by they should have to play behind closed doors (28%).

Another 17% said they should be kicked out of the competition or have points deducted, with 13% saying a fine was enough.

Chelsea will impose life bans on supporters who threw coins at Manchester City players during the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Stamford Bridge if they can be identified.

Referee Andre Marriner retrieved several coins that were thrown towards City striker David Faupala as he celebrated his equaliser in a game Chelsea went on to win 5-1.

"We condemn such idiotic and dangerous behaviour," a Chelsea spokesman said. "It is also worth stating this is a criminal offence and we will support any police prosecution if they can be identified."

Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow earned Team GB a synchronised 10m platform berth for this summer's Olympic Games with a solid performance at the Rio World Cup.

Daley, who claimed an individual berth with World Championship bronze in 2015, scored 446.40 with Goodfellow at the World Cup to finish third.

Freddie Woodward earned GB a second individual 3m springboard Olympic place by reaching the semi-finals.

Team GB now has 10 Rio diving spots.

Arsenal must keep Luis Suarez quiet if they are to overcome holders Barcelona in the Champions League, according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal host a Barca side unbeaten in 32 league and cup games in tomorrow's first leg last-16 tie. Suarez has scored 12 goals in his last seven outings.

"Suarez is the kind of guy who manages to create that spirit in teams," said Wenger, who tried to sign the player in July 2013 when he was at Liverpool. "We have to keep him quiet."

Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle,, external Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone said: “For me, I’m going crazy!

“We’re desperately trying to get one [a clean sheet], but we’re finding it tough to get it.

“I’m making a few saves to keep us in the games.

“But it’s the work of the whole team, from the strikers through to me. All 11 players have to be concentrated on not giving cheap goals away.”

James Forrest is on the lookout for a new club after Celtic manager Ronny Deila revealed he had rejected a new contract.

Forrest claimed in November he wanted to stay at Parkhead and was "pretty confident" a new deal would be sorted out.

But Deila now claims the Scotland international wants to try something new and the 24-year-old looks set to move on.

Birmingham City will wear black armbands for Tuesday's game against Bolton, and have a minute's applause before kick-off, following the death of former manager Freddie Goodwin, aged 82.

Goodwin was a Busby Babe who played for Manchester United in the 1958 FA Cup final, in the same season as the Munich Air Disaster.

He managed Birmingham from 1970 to 1975, leading them into the Old First Division, and also had spells in charge at Brighton and Scunthorpe.

England internationals Billy and Mako Vunipola have signed contract extensions with Saracens through to 2019.

A bit of background to that Villa story (15:23 GMT) about the development team beating the seniors 3-0 last Friday.

In the victorious side were Jordan Ayew, Leandro Bacuna and Jordan Lyden - all of whom should be in the squad for the Stoke match this Saturday.

Among the seniors who didn't play were Bunn, Okore, Lescott, Richards and Cissohko - which could be Villa's defence on Saturday - plus Gestede and Agbonlahor.

Those who did turn out included Sinclair, Westwood, Hutton, Clark, Westwood, Gana and Veretout.

But it was far from being a full-strength seniors XI while the development side wasn't exactly chock-full of callow youths.

We mentioned earlier that Harry Redknapp's column in today's Daily Telegraph is quite interesting stuff.

It begins: "The word in football is that Jose Mourinho and Manchester United is already a done deal, so it is a question of how much longer Louis van Gaal can survive as manager.
