    Australian Open semi-finalist Johanna Konta has jumped one place to a career-high 26th in the WTA world rankings.

    The British number one plays in the Mexico Open first round on Monday in her first match since losing to Angelique Kerber in Melbourne.

    Heather Watson has also climbed a place to 83rd while fellow Briton Naomi Broady has risen three places to 93rd.

    Serena Williams remains top of the rankings and Kerber, who beat her in the Australian Open final, is second.

    Roma legend Francesco Totti will train today despite the most difficult spell of his career threatening to bring his time at the club to an anticlimactic end.

    The 39-year-old, who has been a Roma first-team player since March 1993, is not happy to have only made two starts this season. "I can't stay at Roma like this," he said.

    Coach Luciano Spalletti said: "Totti is the best player in the post-war era and deserves respect, but so do all the other lads.

    "There are rules in place for managing the group and I had to deal with Totti's reaction. The situation is in the past. and he'll train with us on Monday."

    More on the Bolton takeover. The club has been given 14 days to conclude a sale to a consortium fronted by former Wanderers striker Dean Holdsworth, the Championship club have announced.

    Holdsworth, who played for Bolton between 1997 and 2003, told The Bolton News: "It is a great day and I'm absolutely honoured to be a part of this club again.

    "More importantly it lets the people who have been at this club through thick and thin look forward to the future. I can't put into words what a tough process this has been.

    "We shouldn't have been talking about saving a football club but to do it makes this a very special thing for us."

    Ex-Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson has admitted he "wasn't a good person to his girlfriend or his daughter".

    He has begun giving evidence in his trial at Bradford Crown Court, accused of sexual activity with a child.

    Mr Johnson admits kissing the teenager at the centre of the case and an offence of grooming, but denies two counts of sexual activity with a child.

    Replying to questions from his defence barrister, Mr Johnson also admitted he had texted "other women".

    A judge has dismissed an application by tax officials to wind up Ipswich Town.

    HM Revenue and Customs had lodged a petition, but barrister Fiona Dewar - who represented tax bosses - told Registrar Clive Jones at a High Court hearing in London that the debt had been paid in full.

    She gave no indication of the size of the sum.

    Barrister Charles Sinclair, who represented the Championship club, confirmed that the debt had been paid and the judge dismissed the winding-up application.

    West Bromwich Albion supporters are to hold bucket collections for a charity of Chris Brunt's choice after the wide-man was struck by a coin.

    Brunt had gone to give his shirt to a visiting fan after Albion lost 3-1 in the FA Cup fifth round at Championship side Reading on Saturday.

    A group of fans will hold collections outside The Hawthorns before Saturday's league game against Crystal Palace.

    The boss is asked for his opinion on coin-throwing, after the weekend incidents at Chelsea and West Brom.

    He's quite strong in his condemnation. "For years people in the stands feel they can get away with everything," says Wenger.

    "The media played a little part in that, People feel they can't be punished.

    "It always goes one step further and the incidents over the weekend were a disgrace and not respectable. It is just not acceptable."
