BBC Sport's chief F1 writer Andrew Benson: "First morning of the first pre-season test ends with Sebastian Vettel 0.5secs quicker than Lewis Hamilton.

"Over at McLaren-Honda, Button has at least done 30-odd laps, but still 2.5secs off the pace ... not that lap times from testing give anything like a reliable picture."

The Royle verdictpublished at 12:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2016

    Football

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Manchester City manager Joe Royle has been on BBC Radio 5 live chatting about his old side playing a weakened team in their 5-1 FA Cup defeat by Chelsea.

“I don’t think he’s disrespecting it, he’s just stating his priorities loud and clear. Up until last week they still had four trophies in their sights. I couldn’t say I would have done the same but I can see why he did it," he said.

When asked about City players knowing Pep Guardiola is replacing Manuel Pellegrini in the summer, he said: “It must be a strange atmosphere.

"Players can be brittle; they look for continuity and security. The timing seemed strange. I don’t know whether they felt there had been so many whispers about it that they may as well come clean."

    Football

Speaking to London 24, Arsenal Wenger had this to say about Alexis Sanchez's form:

“Don’t worry about Tuesday, he’ll be tuned in.

“I think it’s more focus, (with) Sanchez - I don’t think he was completely ready to come on. It looked like that but he grows with the game.

“He has a game based on risk and so when he’s not completely, completely highly tuned in it becomes dangerous.”

So silky and sweet is the skills of Sturridge,
